This was defenitely a massive step up from part 1 in almost every single way possible. Im gonna be honest, i was not the biggest fan of part 1. What i did like was the simple storytelling of a guy getting a second chance at life, the absolutely amazing artstyle and animation, the also somewhat simple but great characters and the score. Part 2 does those things and adds to every single one of them.
The story: (7)
This anime doesnt really have the best story ever or the most creative in all of anime but it doesnt need to do that. The story of part 2
...
is just: After the mana incident Rudeus vows to bring back Eris to the Royal Capital while along the way trying to spread the good word about the Superd. Its a simple "going to someplace" quest where its not the destination that matters, its the journey to said destination. That said, i had an absolute blast watching every episode of this part and while some of the bits i didnt like from part 1 were still there like the ecchi elements, everything else was just amazing to see.
Art: (10)
I dont think i have to tell you how amazing this anime looks but i'll say it anyway: EVERY SINGLE FRAME OF THIS ANIME LOOKS LIKE A GODDAMN PAINTING. ahem... anyway, yeah this anime looks gorgeous and if you disagree you should get your eyes checked. The backgrounds of this anime continued to amaze me with it almost looking photorealistic at times while still feeling like an anime. The animation was also still crazy good with my favorite moment obviously being the fight vs Orsted. I also really liked scenes like the opening sequence to episode 11. They make very good use of visual storytelling and i really hope they keep it that way in the following seasons.
Sound: (9)
Goddamn this anime sounds good. The background music, the multiple immersive op's that don't take you out of the episode, the ed that's just one of the best ed's ever, it's all just a treat to listen to. Honestly, the entire OST is just that: Immersive. It really gives you the felling that you're in that world and gives me a but of a Lord of the Rings vibe. The "battle theme" which is just what i call the theme called Rudy vs Paul is such a fucking vibe in and off itself. Just listen to it and you'll understand.
Characters: (9)
Rudeus was easily (just like for a lot of people i assume) my least favourite character in the anime and one of my least favourite protagonists during part 1. But goddamn did he continue to surprise me with every episode. Sure, he still has his "moments" where i kinda cringe as the cool kids say but especially during the second half of the season he showed that he is really trying to be a better person and seeing him grow is just a wonderfull thing to witness. I also wasnt the biggest fan of Eris since im just not the biggest fan of the Tsundere architype (Mayuri >> Kurisu) but she also grew on me a lot. The way she wanted to be able to protect Rudeus and seeing her despair as she thought Rudeus was going to die really hit hard. But honestly my favourite character in the show right now is easily Ruijerd. Seeing him coping with the weight of being a Superd and just trying to be a good person was incredibly inspiring. It also made seeing people acknowledge him in the last few episodes feel incredibly rewarding and deserved. And also seeing him act as a father figure towards Eris and Rudeus was really touching. Something about that that i didnt catch at first was the realisation that him losing to Orsted was probably way more impactfull to him then i first thought. Because you have to realize that he was supposed to be their bodyguard but he couldnt do that one job when it most counted. He doesnt outright say it in the anime (for now maybe) but i wouldnt be surprised if they touch on that part later in his character. There are a bunch more characters that i would love to talk about like how Paul changed so much that it hurts to watch, seeing Aisha having to take care of herself at such a young age, Roxy's complex of not being able to fit in and making me tear up because of it and so on and so forth. I just can't wait to see what they do with these characters in later seasons.
Enjoyment: (9)
I think you can just read the previous segments and come to the conclusion that i really fucking enjoyed watching this part. the only reason it wasn't a 10/10 for me was because of the first 1/2 episodes feeling a little bit slow and uninteresting and the Eris and Rudeus 'scene' making me feel uncomfortable but that might just be me.
