They both deal with humanity trying to survive against extinction. In both animes there is a "barrier" that protects the humans against the enemy.

They both deal with humanity's last attempt in a fight against extinction. Both animes have an interesting antagonist to the stories, as well.

They both have the medieval action/adventure feel to them, both have great fight scenes, and both make you laugh. Fairy Tail has more character development -- probably because it's longer -- and the fight scenes are longer. Dungeon ni Deai has a better story -- in my opinion -- and the fight scenes get you interested even though they are shorter.

They both have the medieval action/adventure feel to them, both have great fight scenes, and both are centered around a dungeon. SAO has more romance and is more focused on getting out of the game. Dungeon ni Deai has better comic scenes -- in my opinion -- and is more focused of being one of the best in the "game" -- not really a game.

Both of them are great cat and mouse games where the protagonists want to change the way the society is governed. Both make you think about ethical responsibilities and rally around an "all or nothing" approach.

Both look the same visually and a bit music wise. They both revolve around dark themes and leave you wondering what's going to happen next.

Same medieval feel to it -- sword fights, demons, etc.
