What can I say about this that hasn't been said already. It's trash cheap hentai "quality" story. It's transparently a power fantasy for someone VERY insecure and I specifically say so because the MC is once again an overpowered self absorbed man who never shows vulnerability or humantiy. He mind controls women into sleeping with him or just goes with standard manipulation. He's the "smartest" most talented person and everything goes his way according to his plans.
There is just tons of totally unnecessary sexual imagery here that is so nonsensical that it becomes painfully distracting. It's boring and lazy writing. Hard pass even if I ... were into gratuitous fanservice,

It's like someone read "Arifureta" And very slightly altered the story

So the basic premise is the same. A guy who is a loser in a class full of just...just cruel kids(like what is with revenge manga and making every person in the beginning a friggen psychopath?). Luckily, unline most revenge stories, this trend doesn't really continue. There are still monsters(both physicallya nd mentally) but it's handled a bit more realistically.

Story:
You are missing nothing here. there is literally nothing new or of substance. It's junk food manga. The characters in the beginning are your run of the mill "everyone is an douche with a ... fake smile and a secretly evil face that delights in being cruel. Then it just kind of turns into a typical isekai complete with just about all the tropes:
Needless fan service
An overpowered protagonist(and I mean just stupidly op. And also maybe just stupid for not realizing it as he keeps focusing on what he CAN'T do...which it turns out he might just be able to if he believes in himself.
Slavery
A Tsundere & Kuudere combo waifus
It's just bland

Characters:
Generic. So much so that it got to the point were I was predicting lines. The only interesting figures in this world are the ones whove said pretty much nothing yet.

Art:
It's alright. There's a decent understanding of anatomy and at least it's somewhat nice to look at. Even if very generic. The backgrounds could use work.

Summary:
All-in-all, you miss nothing skipping this. And yeah...just generic revenge turned standard harem isekai with a boring MC.

Pokemon Go meets Kangoku Jikken...what a novel concept.

The story of Dorie Yuugi is about a typical High School Protagonist dragged into a world of debauchery after downloading a game that allows him to turn people into slaves on a whim. And in doing so is introduced to a massive underground society that thrives on elite wealthy types participating in human slavery. Mysteries of how this world operates, Characters slave and master alike with their own goals in this messed up place. How will he fare?

Story:
Synopsis aside the story itself isn't anything to write home about. If you're familiar with these kinds of stories then you're ... not in for any surprises. It's very straightforward with little in the way of interesting plot threads. And aside from some charming characters it's pretty par for the course. Of course there's plenty(and I mean PLENTY) of gore, violence, humiliation, and grotesque imagery if you're into that sort of thing.

It does like to play a bit fast and loose with physics. This is supposed to be taking place in a world analogous to real life yet there are times you'll see a man capable of ripping someone head off or punching a hole in a person with their bare hands. It;s not too distracting but it gets a bit silly at times.
I've read this story to completion and, without spoiling anything, I will just say that I was not too satisfied with it. Apparently there is a sequel but I've honestly no interest in seeing it. It's a sort of character arcs type of story which might tell you WHY the ending ended up disappointing me.

Also a lot of mechanics, and plot threads are just kind of unresolved. The app that introduces this very story is soon dropped entirely as just a menu to convey information. A character that has some form of importance to the society is quickly put in the background. Our MC here is apparently of some major significance to the society that is frankly never explained. I wont hold my breath to see if it's tackled in the sequel. Also the ending feels weirdly rushed.

Characters:
The characters in this story are either A. Hyperviolent battle freaks B. Deranged sociopaths or C. Helpless normies. There are some likable moments with certain characters. But they are such terrible people that I find myself unable to really root for anyone. Most of the characters are very VERY one note. I DESPISE stories where every other person is a MONSTER. A slime dressed as a wolf in sheep's clothing. And design-wise it suffers slightly from the "Flashy Protagonists, Bland Extras" trope. They aren't terrible but they arent interesting.

Art:
Okay! So artwise this show has some pretty interesting scenes. The composition is fascinating at times and the artist here has a knack for drawing very...expressive faces. But again, this is reserved for important characters/moments. It's well done though. Visually it's appealing if you aren't put off by gore.

All in all, I found myself reading this chiefly to pass the time and frankly it was just kind of run of the mill. And the ending to me was a disappointing one. I'm trying not to hold that against the author as there WERE moments and characters I enjoyed as well as some ggood art here and there. But when I think of the wasted plot threads, over reliance on shock value, ridiculously flat characters, and bland story I just find myself glad to be done with it. Your mileage may vary.

I'll be real, If you have every read anime about magic and mystical other worlds then you will find NOTHING of novelty here. The same tropes and cliches from an overpowered protagonist with the need to explain absolutely everything coupled with his own harem and bad guys who stroke his ego at every turn. It is not mediocre. It even managed to get a smile and a "hey that looks kind of cool" from me. Visually it is passable but honestly unless you are new to anime or just want some junk food you won't really be getting much out of this ... one

One Hell of a ride!

Let's start with Hajime no Ippo's art direction:

Jyoji Morikawa does an excellent job emphasizing the action and intensity the series is going for in the original manga and Hidetoshi Kaneko as well as the rest of Madhou's crew more than raises the bar with it's trademark dynamic style. The choreography is on point and the way punches and impacts are drawn you can almost feel them as if you were watching it happen right in front of you. Now the character designs might not appeal to everyone. But it does grow on you. It isn't badly drawn but the characters ... are not meant to all look like potential waifus and that's okay. Aside from a few names in the story(Ryūichi you sexy beast) most characters have a little more goofy or silly expressions to them. Though it does make for gut busting visual gags. Particularly in scenes with Ippo's crazy boxing role model. The art in this series is best used in service to scenes of extreme action or comedy.

Sound:
Literally hooked from Under Star onward. Real talk, the sound direction is this series is well-matched with it's Art. As far as voice acting goes, you'd be better off starting with the subbed version as it's characters fit much more with their personality, actions, and motivations. The sounds of various hits, punches, and movement are on point. The rough sounds of mit to mit or fist to face are felt as keenly as they are visually. When characters describe a "good" or a bad hit, you as an audience can definitely tell the difference. The beats used for moments of comedy and action are fitting for each moment. And when you listen to that trademark "Irradation", you feel inspired to do push ups or go for a jog too! The story very heavily emphasizes the theme of growing stronger and the music well matches both the feeling of how far you've come and the desire to keep going. Both for it's time and even to this day.

Story/Characters:
This is where the series shines. Hajime No Ippo has skillfully timed story that balances both serious high stakes moments with raunchy, corny, yet hilarious humor. Some might consider the story slow at first but it ties to the overall theme of improvement. Our titular character is not particularly bright or talented. His best qualities shine through his extreme effort and dedication. So a good deal of the story gives respect to that effort. There are a wide variety of different personalities in this series and every single one of them is given time and respect. Seemingly one-off characters end up playing fitting major roles later in the story and at times you'll find yourself cheering more for Ippo's opponents than himself. It has it's more "shounen" moments sure but the series makes a point to stay grounded and draws a lot of inspiration from real world boxing while adding that splash of anime to it.

Overall thoughts:
I might be biased because I grew up with this series and it's my favorite sports anime as well as one of my favorites in general. But it's worth the watch. The gags might seem childish at times, and some of the action is over the top but that's just part of the show's appeal. There are many different characters to like and quite a few of them make returns and you just want to root for them. Ippo doesn't always win but he always gets back up and keeps trying. The series is endearing and if you feel like giving it a chance I'd recommend doing so. It's well drawn, well-animated, it has heart and more than one interesting story to tell
