This is the first Anime I’ve binge-watched in a while.
I started reading the manga the show around the time it first started airing, and I won’t lie, while I found the premise strange yet interesting, it failed to catch my attention for long, and I didnt bother picking up the anime for a long time. However, after a friend showed me clips from the second season and I noticed how gorgeous the animation is, I decided to give the anime a chance and it completely changed my perception of the series.
Not only is the anime absolutely beautiful, with its vibrant colors and memorable character

designs, especially with the unique star eyes, but I like how the series blends murder-mystery with learning about the entertainment industry and how the characters struggle to make it to the top. It makes me want to root for everyone involved, and it’s honestly one of the rare shows where I don’t end up having a least favorite in the cast.
That said, I don’t have a favorite character, either. While I think everyone is very unique and well-written and deserving of the fame they’re trying to achieve, I, for the most part, feel very neutral about the cast as individuals and I’m not exactly sure why. Possibly because everyone in the cast stands on equal footing with each other in terms of writing, and therefore there’s no character that is “better” than the others, at least in my opinion.
I feel like my only criticisms with the show are 1) the premise and 2) the fact that the time skips don’t seem to accurately reflect the passage of time beyond the characters aging up. Going into the series, I already felt that the reincarnation plot was kind of unnecessary, and it felt even more so the closer I got to the end of the first season. While it makes the premise more unique, I feel like the story could have proceeded the same way and without issue if Aqua and Ruby were just big fans of their mom and wanted to avenge her death, rather than reincarnations of her fans who just happened to be born as her children. Aqua also has incest-y vibes toward Ai, when he shouldn’t given that she raised his reincarnated self from infancy. As for 2), it feels weird how the characters can age up and feel virtually unchanged from themselves from over 10 years ago in terms of characterization and motivation. I get that the anime is only adapting a few chapters of the manga, but the time skips keep happening but the characterization seems static, along with their feelings and motivations. Makes sense for Aqua, since he’s obsessed with revenge, but not so much everyone else.
Maybe there’s something in the manga that explains it and I don’t know about it. Who knows? Either way it’s a bit strange and contrived, but it has not changed my perception of the show in the slightest. It’s still a 10 for me and I’d recommend any anime fan watch it once.
