Going into this anime it was all a whim. One year ago I simply was bored looking for an anime to watch and landed on this. The title instantly intrigued me, as the concept was somewhat interesting. Looking back i remember talking to one of my friends as I was watching the first episode and I said "This has potential to be top 5 for me". Little did I know that this would be my favorite anime of all time. There is nothing over the top special about it, in fact it is pretty basic looking at it from the outside. Looking at this objectively, ... as I have for this review, this anime as said, not special. It has an interesting story, and great characters but the limitation to 12 episodes hurts. Basically just go read the light novels then come back, they are more in depth and there are two books that contain events after the ending to the anime.

Willem Kmetsch is my favorite main, next to Lelouch. Chtholly is a good character to side next to Willem, but you may find her annoying. Ren and Ithea are great sides, they bring a bit of comedic relief to an otherwise devastating story.

All I want to say to end this short review is that, even though it was special to me in everyway, you may not see it that way. Again, super simple story, but at some points its a tad difficult to understand the background of the world the characters are in. Its good for 12 episodes, if you have the spare time then give it a watch but don't go out of your way to make time for it.

Personally this is a 10/10, but objectively and not based on feelings its a 8/10

(P.S. I have watched the series 5 times over, and read the novels one time over. That's how much I enjoyed it.)
