Ah, Hayate. This is a comedy that has almost everything. Romance, Fighting, Drama, Slice Of Life, a bit of Majou Shoujo...to name a few. It's a melting pot that deals out a little bit of everything. Fourth wall breakings, or instances where you're informed that the characters know they're fictional, are everywhere. It's not frequent in anime to actually show the poor side of life. Hayate is in debt for ¥156,804,000, or about 2 million American dollars, thanks to his happy-go-lucky parents. Hayate becomes a butler to Nagi, and it all goes crazy from there. A kid who's supposed to be in high school being

a butler is already unheard of. But it's a creative yet simple plot, and it works. Story gets a ten. The art style is a very good mix, yet it shows that the creators put a lot of work in. The size scale is surprisingly fantastic for anime, and it really gives you a feel that they knew what they were doing. So art gets a ten. The voice acting is very good, and it even got a dub. Now, I'm not sure if it's a fandub or not, but whatever the case, the English voice acting is very fitting. The Japanese is even more. Hayate sounds very much like a poor man would, with a somewhat broken Tokyo accent. Nagi actually sounds like she's a whiny 13 year old. Maria actually sounds a bit English, and has a very generous voice. While there isn't much for sound effects, the ones it does have give you a tense feel. Sound gets a ten. Characters...a poor high schooler as a butler to a 13-year-old. An English lady. A gruff head. A talking white tiger. They incorporated the main characters into the story very well, and it's also very creative. Ten as well. And enjoyment...for me, it always kept me on my toes wondering what would happen next. Wondering who Hayate will fight. Wondering if Hayate's going to be the damsel in distress. I would give it a ten. Score is 50/50. This is the only one to get a ten on my list. A great show I would highly recommend.

SPOILER ALERT.
I thought the original was okay. The art wasn't much and it was absolutely confusing. Still, a great story. The OVA was even more confusing, with the exception of the final. But when the time came for a new season, it got better. Story's a nine. It has loads of clichés, (Magical Girl, Guy Can't Confess, Girl From Outer Space, to name a few), but this comedy-ecchi, which also has a censored version, is very creative. Art gets an eight. It takes anime's animation pattern to another level, with sweatdrops and eye whites everywhere. My favorite part is episode 6 act 2, when

Run has learned Kyouko's secret. It just makes me crack up. Anyway, sound gets a seven. This anime, which doesn't have a dub, has little to no sound effects, but the voicing is very good, sounding quite realistic to their character, especially Yami's, Yui's, Ringo's (Ringo is female), and Riko's. Character takes a nine for aforementioned creativity. It just makes you think, "Who came up with this stuff?" In my opinion, the best character might be Celine, the headdress-wearing stepdaughter of Rito who has a little secret. The ecchi adds to the enjoyment, as you just can't help but let out your inner perv and wait for a girl to drop her clothes. Maybe it's just me. Anyway, enjoyment takes a nine, with a nice mix of comedy and ecchi, with a bit of romance tossed in for an interesting mix. Overall, I give this an eight, so it's one to definitely check out.

NOTE: THIS MIGHT NOT BE VERY GOOD, BUT IT'S MY FIRST REVIEW.
Haruhi Suzumiya. A name quite familiar in anime. We have manga, some of which is being translated, two seasons with English dubs, a movie that will soon be translated, and ONAs. Basically, Haruhi wants to meet people out of the ordinary and 'hang out' with them. More like abuse them. Have you seen the misery Mikuru's gone through? Anyway, a great anime with a pretty good second season. The main way, in my opinion, this show got its fame is the creativity of the plot. It's just fantastic. And Haruhi...well...let's just say
...
Kyon would rather have Mikuru. Haruhi Suzumiya is a bizarre type, enjoying the subnatural. The series basically flows with Kyon and his friends doing some stuff that'll keep Haruhi interested with life. What happens when she loses interest? You'll have to watch it to find that out. So the story I would give a ten. The art was your average anime art, nothing out of the ordinary. But that's what makes it likeable. Art gets a seven. Sound...in my opinion, the voicing needed a bit of work and the sound effects weren't too much. The main thing I hated was Kyon's Japanese voice, which made it sound like he was interested in all this stuff. Kyon's a pretty lazy and emotionless guy, and the English voice at least took this into account. I'm giving this a 7. Character gets a 10 for reasons I already explained. Overall score is an eight.
