Amano Megumi wa Sukidarake! (Manga) add

Don't judge a book by it's cover if you hate it.
But hop on right in if you like what you are seeing.

Those are the words i would describe this manga. So far i really have been enjoying it to the max. The key reason being: Amano is a romance manga that has loads of clever moments.

The story is very plain i feel. But that is okay because of it wanting to show you the more ecchi scenes of this manga.
But i feel that the longer you read it, the more you start to root for Amano and Shindo. The fact that they cannot find the ... perfect time to confess is the most jarring point of the story and you kind of block out the scenes where Amano reveals her self physically. I find the moments where Amano (and also Shindo) reveals herself mentally where I get really happy to read more.
The arugment can be made that this manga is a bit on the nose and even tastelessly so, however, I feel that the true power of this manga is within the main characters intimate and innocent romance scenes.
It is also the moments where the creator explains things that Amano does at the moment that I am very much invested in what Amano and her friends are doing. I find some of the things the creator explains to be helpful to understand certain things Japanese schoolgirls are doing (as living in Japan did tell me that some of these things were indeed true!)

The art has tons of ecchi in it, Just look at Amano's design. They even made 2 other characters that have all of her features (her mother and a underclassmate) However, I do feel glad that the creator does explore different types of bodies and that that they respect it. You can clearly see that the creator likes to focus on Amano's curves, but I never felt that the manga made me feel like the rest of the people were out of place because of her presence. In fact, The creator tries his best to make as many characters feel like they belong in their design alone.

Characters as I mentioned are the heart of this entire manga in my honest opinion. Shindo is smart, his parents are very standard but also loving oba-chan and oji-chan while Amano is a very sweet and airheaded character that only gets truly strong whenever she is doing kendo. Shindo's and Amano's friends are also very colorful. They all are in very different tropes but except for one are done in such a way that they truly matter in the story. I feel with one character it is more of a self-insert of the creator himself rather than an actual character.
I find that, even though Amano's mother has the same vibes as her daughter does, she does not really fit the same kind of vibe as Shindo's parents. She truly is just a very supportive milf, but not written in a way where she sticks out like a sore thumb.

As you can tell, my enjoyment is through the roof. I recommend this story if you like romance manga with a lot of ecchi. But what I come to find is a manga that is actually very wholesome and because of it hard to put down.

Shingeki no Kyojin (Anime) add

Mixed Feelings

I am going in after the hype of 2014.
I remember it very well when this anime came out. Tumblr was very excited about this anime and no one was able to not talk about this. And by loads of request, I decided not to watch it for a long time for that same reason. The hype killed my enjoyment even before I knew any of the characters or it's story.

Shigeki no Kyojin is an anime that to this day makes me wonder how it got to this point. Mind you, anime has never reached the same kind like now, and what I find so ... curious is that no one asked for this too. It seems to me that it got really popular because of Levi and because of people being affectionate about him, people got talked into it for it's action if they weren't so hot about a character, and from there it just spiraled into what we had in 2014. I feel like now it is a good time to watch it, as no one is asking me to watch this shit nor do I look like an asshole for criticizing this anime.

Okay I dropped this anime because i feel like I understand the story and I honestly do not really care for it after I dropped it in.

The story is convincing especially for the healthy cast of characters. The world feels lived in with it's own backstory and their set of hierarchy. No regrets there.

The art had a lot to prove from it's transition from the very sketch like art style in it's manga. The emotions are striking and it kind of made a name for it self to the point where the anime stood on top of it's manga counterpart. However, I wished that the animator, for as good as the art style looks, respected the original style by keeping the more sketch like features in the animation.

As for the sound, the sound has to be it's strongest point. I feel like I can't say much bad about the sound. It is clear, the music has weight to the characters and context of the situation and over-all very good score.

The characters is where I do turn my head. This is also in part of the people that were eagerly hyping this entire anime up. I feel that even though Eren has the right to be angry, that i found him a tad too much at times. I find that his character would have been a lot better if there wasn't so much focus on him feeling this way. And this goes for some of the other people in the cast too. Mikasa, Armin and some others of the cast were a tad bit much.
The only character that I low-key found they did justice is Levi (from the beginning at least!) Perhaps because the animations could be a bit too over the top whenever they showed emotion (which again were done well...but i can't help how it would be like if they weren't this heavy with the music and sound design already.)

Over all, not bad, but in my honest opinion, it lost points for the shit storm it stirred many years ago. I honestly feel that anime like Shigeki no Kyojin would benefit from people that truly analyze this work not because it is popular or at the time at least, but really look hard where her flaws arise, since I feel that people have not given this a fair shot for both fans that were blinded by hype and also like me, hate.

For an anime that wants to be bold and start right in a tournament arc, it falls flat with it's intentions. Something that Manwa needs to get over to win their Japanese audience.

Animation wise: very cool! Some shots were done in a really clever way and it has a lot of potential. But then again I did not expect less.

I feel like this anime is lacking everything a tournament arc has to have: substance and a story people can understand.
I understand that it is hard to reel people in right away, but each episode it seemed to lose me every time.
