This movie was truly enjoyable to watch, but going into it you need to realize this isn't any sort of sequel to the original series. This movie is a re-imagined version of the original 26 episode tv series, and is very different. The best way to look at it is an alternate story, spin-off to the original or an entirely different story(this also means you don't have to watch the tv show first to watch and enjoy the movie).
STORY(7):
I'm not gonna give a synopsis of the story, I will just say that to me this movie brought across a moving and compelling story that
...
had me interested and wanting more until the very end. I only wish it was longer and had more time to dedicate to a more in depth story and character development(but that's usually the case with animated movies).
CHARACTERS(7):
I have heard some people complain about how the characters are nothing like the original tv show, and I would have to agree that they are a good deal different, however, I don't believe the characters should be put down for simply being different. As I said this movie should be viewed as an entirely different story. That aside I didn't have a problem with the characters, they were all interesting and had decent depth put into them considering the length of the movie.
ART:
I'll start by saying the art and animation was very enjoyable to watch, and even though I had no problem with the art of the original tv show, I would have to say this movie does a better job. The art looks a lot brighter, cleaner, and more detailed.
SOUND(7):
Now I'm no expert or serious critic when it comes to the music of an anime, it is simply whether the music is enjoyable and fits. Escaflowne accomplished this, and managed to include some beautiful soundtracks that I really enjoyed hearing. As for the voice acting, I watched the English dub version and thought the actors all did a very good job and were well cast for their roles.
ENJOYMENT(8):
The biggest factor in me rating this movie was my enjoyment and I very much enjoyed this movie, I loved seeing familiar characters re-designed and with different personalities and roles, it was enjoyable for me all the way through.
*sigh* if only there was more...

After finishing some rather big shounen series and looking for something new to pick up, preferably something under 70 episodes, I found The Law of Ueki.
Story(7):
This series is a tournament type anime, and the story is nothing unexpected. You can tell, for the most part, where it is going right off the bat. Now that's not to say it's boring, the series did have a solid story line that kept me interested, plus the series has a definite ending(wrapping up after 51E). Although I do feel your enjoyment has to do with weather you like this type of series and weather you like
...
the characters.
Characters(8):
One thing I love about shows like this is the variety of characters, each with their own personalities and quirks. Which is what The Law of Ueki gives. The show gives us 5(6 if you count Tenko) unique main characters, as well as a huge variety of other characters(most of which come up in fights). Each of the main characters, as well as some of the antagonists, are given some sort of backstory so you can better understand their motivations and choices(love it when shows do that). After saying all that, I personally loved all the main characters and many of the side characters as well, which is one of the reasons I enjoyed this anime.
Sound(6):
The voice actors of all the characters fit quite well and I didn't' have a problem with any of them(that is unless I forgot about them). I'm not even going to say much about the music in this anime as I don't remember anything but the opening(which I did like).
Art(7)
I put this here in case you were wondering about the art, however, quite frankly I wasn't really paying attention to the art/animation of this series either while watching it. Although, I do remember the fighting scenes being animated well. All I can really say is that it worked for the series and the animation was done well.
Enjoyment(9):
This show is exactly the type of show I was looking for and exactly the type of show that I love. I thoroughly enjoyed it right up until the end.
Recommend if you are looking for:
-Shounen
-Shounen that actually has an end(51 episodes)
-Variety of characters
-Something easy to get into
-Something easy to follow
-Supernatural elements
-Fun characters
-A tournament anime
The best way to tell if this show is for you is to watch the first few episodes, once you get where the show is going decide if you want to drop.

Before I start this review I must say that I quite like this anime even though it doesn't seem like anything special. My suggestion for this series is that if it interests you even a little watch the first few episodes and if you don't like the characters, go ahead and drop the series.
Story(6):
There really is nothing in the way of an overall plot. This is to be expected as it is only 13 episodes. The anime is just an average shojo, romance, comedy type show. This does not make the show bad, as it is still enjoyable watching the lives of the characters.
Characters(6):
...
I found the characters in this series to be enjoyable(I must also admit that I have a soft spot for characters such as Nanami). However, weather you like the characters or not depends on what your looking for in a character.
Art(6):
The art serves its purpose in telling the story, it it's pleasing to look at just not something you would look at and say, "What a masterpiece of artwork!" (if you know what I mean)
Sound(7):
There's nothing much to say about the music, except that the songs were cute and fit the overall tone of the anime quite well. They were also fun to listen to.
I would recommend this anime to those looking for:
-A short anime(though it does have a 2nd season if you liked the 1st season)
-Some romantic comedy
-Shoujo
-A little bit of supernatural elements

When I first read the synopsis I thought, oh cool, this sounds like something interesting, and I thought of the possibilities such a concept could have. So going into the anime I was pretty excited. After watching the anime I feel as if I wasted my time, when I could have been watching a far better show. Here I'll go into my reasoning:
Story(2):
The show doesn't have much of a plot, it is basically the female protagonist getting to know all the characters (which makes sense because it is based on a otome game), which, for me, was pretty boring to watch. In addition, the
...
anime gradually leads up to a main conflict/climax, but it is unknown what this climax is until the end, when they introduce it, resolve it, and wrap up the anime in about 2 episodes. It simply felt pointless, and the entire "plot" was a big disappointment.
Characters(4):
The characters themselves were pretty simple, though the anime did try to give some of them backgrounds, but many characters were left flat and two dimensional. This includes the protagonist, who had no backstory, and whom I found to be annoying, especially as her character seemed to react the same way to everything.
Art(6):
As far as the art and animation go, it wasn't the best I've ever seen but it certainly wasn't bad. It was pretty basic, and I actually enjoyed some of the character designs.
Enjoyment(4):
Now I didn't really enjoy this anime and despite all that I have already said there were a select few parts of the anime I enjoyed. The first being the humor. Now this anime is, of course, not a comedy, however, there was some humor that I enjoyed (particularly episode 10). I also enjoyed Apollon's and Thoth's nicknames for the various characters.
*Sound(4): In case you were wondering about the sound of the anime, there isn't much for me to say except it was fairly bland, nothing special, but also nothing terrible.

The only thing there is to really say about this series is that it is cute. It's just a short story to read if you have nothing else to read or are looking for something simple. The manga is only 5 chapters so you shouldn't expect much plot wise, the same goes for the characters.
I would recommend this if you are looking for the following in a manga:
-Short story/Quick read
-Simple plot
-Simple romance
-Shojo manga
-Just something cute to make you smile
Taking all that into account this isn't a bad manga and is ultimately just a fun manga to pass some time and enjoy and
...
doesn't require a big time commitment.
