Perhaps the biggest difference between the two is the setting, but either than that they are REALLY similar, and here's why: Similarities: Main Character (MC): +wants to avenge his dead parents +pursues a nearly impossibble goal +has a special power that he initially doesn't know about +has an overprotective sibling, who is great in combat +is often ridiculed by the people around him +is willing to do anything to achieve his goal +through his selfish actions hurts the people around him +fights using a sword Side characters: Yukio = Mikasa (overprotective sibling, who is great in combat) Shiemi = Armin (weak blond(e) (sorry Armin x'D), who actually comes useful in some situations) Suguro(Bon) = Jean (the one who constantly get into fights with the MC) Mephisto = Hanji (the one who wants to take MC's special ability and use it to fight for the good of humanity) Shura = Levi (the one who agrees to train the MC, but won't hesitate to kill him if things go terribly wrong) The plots are also pretty similar, since they focus on the MC trying to defeat the greatest threat to humanity. Another similarity is the really epic battles. And the pretty big and rather abundant plot-twists. The biggest diffrences would be, as I mentioned, the setting and the general feel of the series. AnE has a more comedy feel to it, while SnK has a more solemn and intimidating aura. And of course, the completely different way of fighting. If/once you watch both, you can really see the similarities, and the more you think about it, the more you can find.
