One of the few real-world issues I will lament in this forum is the unhappy love of death that occasionally finds its way into Japanese anime. This show, Platinum End, is another iteration of the kind of show that’s obsessed with death and dying. While this anime is intriguing at times, ultimately it is completely overshadowed by that darkness which no one should have to live under, making the show far less interesting in the end.

A strange and wonderful experience!
It's as if this phrase was made for this anime. The only thing “anime” about this show is that it is actually “anime.” It’s about as unusual as anime could get and still be anime. And yet it elevates the medium to still even greater heights. Astounding artwork, amazing characters, and engrossing but lightweight storylines adorn this most interesting work. Hige o Soru, Soshite Joshi Kousei o Hirou is another of those modern anime afflicted with a paragraph for a title. I don’t understand how we went from single word titles to “After Being Rejected, I Shaved and Took in a High School Student.” You see this extra-long-name thing in the memes all the time now, it’s gotten to such a ridiculous stage.
