This was a title that flew under the radar until its first episode. Even then, it was only expected to be a black clover alternative. A world run by magic and a main character who can't use it. Then said main character is physically better than everyone else and swings a big sword.
Will grew up beside a female prodigy who is arguably the best to ever hold a wand. That being said, his entire goal in life is to stand beside her at the top of the world. The only problem is that while he is the best at everything, without magic it is hard
...
to pass magic school let alone see the top. To make things worse his peers look down on him and bully him as in this world, one mage is equal to an entire army of people without magic.
This show was stellar for what it was. Great writing and solid animation where it was needed. It didn't do anything new, but what it did do it did extremely well. You shouldn't be able to predict what happens next in regards to execution and that is all that any story in this day and age should strive to do.
Most certainly worth a watch

This show is the beyblade anime going back to its bladebreakers roots (before bit beasts became basically gods). It is grounded in reality and properly teaches people how they would play in real life. Whats strong against what, how would you actually improve, even how customizing works in theory. Based on that, this is the best beyblade anime yet.
When it comes to the story, it feels like your average sports shounen anime, except one of the rare ones where the main character isnt a prodigy or handed a special power. They have to be taught and then grow like a normal person when they start
...
something new.
Before the story, lets get the other stuff out of the way. The music in this anime is way better than it has any business being. I could honestly listen to this entire soundtrack without irony. Its catchy and infectious, and unlike older beyblade anime, feels like real music. Burst had fun songs but nothing you would listen to on its own. X is straight up good jams.
It also has extremely soild animation for a show whose entire purpose is to sell toys. Then the character designs are a step above. Yes people have weird anime hair but beyblade has had much worse in the past. When it comes to the characters who arent over the top anime, I love the designs to death. Multi is peak waifu design. We have peak maid girl design. Ekusu looks awesome for someone with blue and yellow hair. You get the point.
The main character, Bird, is a complete rookie to the sport. So rookie that he doesnt even know the basics. Starting out, he was nothing more than a random kid who played casually with his friends. This was all the way up until they finally decided to try out an local amateur tournament...you can guess how that turned out. Since then, his friends quit their dream of becoming professional bladers, and Bird was left alone.
After that he gets adopted by a werido on the street...time to get to the minor Spoilers. Like I said, some weird guy in a mask saw bird then basically said "team up with me". Fast foward. The weird guy is actually stupid strong, beats the team that beat Bird's single handedly, and officially teams up with bird. Long story short, this is Ekusu. A top ranked professional beyblader who wants to start from scratch so that he can face his rival/former teammate in a real match. One with actual pressure and stakes that you wouldnt get from just a friendly one on one.
Remember when i said the main character didnt get a special power, I lied. He got Ekusu. Bird is still trash but his teammate is a top 3 professional. What i didn't lie about is him having to improve like a normal person. After the mentioned revenge match for bird. The two of them meet this random weird girl that offers Bird a free new beyblade. Bird ends up picking one that is extremely strong...on paper. You're intelligent enough to read this. Obviously Bird is still useless with a top tier beyblade. Its like giving an infant a championship winning football team and expecting them to be able to coach it.
After recieving the beyblade, Bird and Ekusu run into the girl again. Turns out shes a mega popular social media influencer/idol thing who happens to be a strong beyblader, named Multi. She joins the team and becomes the voice of reason between the lunatic that is Ekusu, and the clueless loser that is, Bird.
If youve read the other reviews, you already know that up to this point Bird has been absolutely carried by his team. This of course is a double edged sword when it comes to writing. Bird being a useless rookie is well written. But with the other two memebers of the team there are no real stakes. The main characters are going to win everything, why wouldn't they? We've only had one ranked match so far in the anime but the words are already plastered onto the wall. If they do lose at some point, Bird is just going to get good and they are going to sweep their way, as a team, to finally fight Ekusu's rival at the top.
You have to like the characters to enjoy this kind of plot progression. Obviously I love them, but I'm not you. Either way, I think this is a must watch if you like sports anime. A maybe if you like shounen.

After reading the reviews for this anime i think it gets looked down on too hard.
The show suffers from not having enough episodes. The writers cut out large parts of the source material in order to get the bulk of story into one season. This, of course, left a hollow shell because of characters and entire arcs being removed. Small things like a character learning a new move or improving a skill got removed. For example a character was always able to play with two hands in the source. they even practiced doing so, but in the anime it comes out later from thin
...
air
So lets look at what was left over. This show starts with what will become our two main characters, Ayano and Nagisa, playing against each other in a tournament. The battle ending with both girls wondering why they even play the sport is what sets the pace for the rest of the show. We watch everyone we meet toss over the same question as the episodes tick on for different reasons. Given that everyone is only alloted a few minutes to have these arcs. I believe that the show does a good job in engaging you with them.
While it may be a villain of the week story. You can still understand everyone, which is something that alot of shows fail to accomplish even with the right amount of episodes.
Its not a bad show. it has good everything and im sure if it had more episodes would be held in great light. I recommend you try it then read the source. (It has ecchi angles if that helps)

Sk∞ is the skateboarding anime that people have been waiting decades for. A show which had only not been made eariler due to limits in technology. But does it live up to the hype fans give it.
To begin with, it was a dark horse. A show that a lot of people didnt even realize existed until the internet exploded. Then it still went widely ignored. Being that it is my favorite show of the winter season i have bias but, to be honest. It got the attention it deserved.
The show follows two main characters and a very dynamic cast of sides. Reki and Langa. Langa
...
being a Canadian, after his father passed his mother decided to return to her homeland of japan.
Being thrust into this new land with very little preparation Langa is lost. There are not any mountains or snow where he is. so he would need to find a new hobby. He would also have to used to a new language. More specifically how to read and write with it.
But he finds quickly finds a new friend to help.
Reki is skateboarder and when he meets Langa he takes him under his wing. Being obsessed with the sport his whole life, he reads magazines, works in a skate shop, and designs his own boards. His whole life is skate and he finally has someone to truely share it with. Someone who can see it the way he does rather than someone that does it to look cool.
Reki is also a part of an underground club called S. A place where all the best skaters gather to race downhill with no rules.
After some plot, Reki and Langa get roped into a race. Rather, Langa gets roped in despite being new to the sport.
And as you can guess he performs surprisingly well. Why? Because he was a snowboarder. And the gap is not that far.
The show now follows the two friends and their adventures with S.
If you know the team that made this show, you can guess the tone of the story as it is very similar to Bananafish. It also shares the wonderful art. If you are not familiar, the show is very friendly to people that like shipping men together. So that may turn you off like it did with Bananafish viewers.
Then if you couldn't care less, the story keeps you strapped in but im not spoiling quite yet.
Now back to me mentioning the show getting the attention it deserved. It doesn't do anything to separate itself from other shounen in it's subgenre let alone the genre in general.
The underdog main character isnt an underdog for long. Now he is comparable to the best if not better. Now we watch as he looks to snatch the crown for himself weather he wants to or not.
We've seen this a thousand times in anime, so it comes down to execution. Even the obligatory beach episode hits all the notes.
Thing is, the show executed more than perfectly. Hey, if you are new to anime it will feel like one of the best shows youve ever watched with little competition. But, if you happen to be bored with shounen sequence, the art and skating will keep you engaged. Everyone is happy.
Now for heavy spoiling. Like i mentioned. Langa is talented. He immediately becomes a god at the sport. This of course grabs the attention of the number one skater Adam. The man that started S. The man who started it only to find someone who can grab his attention. Someone different from the others, special. Be it how unpredictable Langa is or how he uses snowboarding tricks for skating or whatever else. Langa is everything he has been looking for all these years. And Adam will have him.
Not that our side characters wont get the way. Than handsome and musclebound Joe. The beautiful and graceful perfectionist that is Cherry. (These two approach skating in opposite ways so the rub each other the wrong way. Joe is a brute that relies on muscle and instinct. Cherry uses a computer and only wants the perfect way down the mountain.)
There is also rookie hunter that likes to play dirty in Shadow. And much much more.
The important one here being, Reki. One of the weaker skaters in S. Who of course becomes jealous of Langa. Sad that he feels like Langa is skating way from him. And mad that Langa cant keep a promise. So eventually the two break up until Reki finds his love for skating again.
I've been rambling. Its an amazing show. If you want to watch it. Just do it.

Coming here after the first season, things are going to feel off.
The show takes a shift. A shift that people are very vocal about disliking.
Of course, when you reach the 4th episode you understand why it was written this way. But the issue still stands.
The children survive on luck alone. Without it, they would have died the first episode, let alone an entire season.
They do this in order to create an even playing field between them and their main pursuer. In order to allow the children to learn how to survive on their own. To obtain food, to fight, to find and create shelters.
Then
...
again, when they escape death through no skill of their own...It takes away for chess game the first season was know for. It takes away from any development they gain.
It is not all bad, but it is enough to create a war in the fandom. But as more episodes come out im sure it will all die down, if it has not already started.
Now to get spoilery. The kids find out the world is spilt between humans and demons. An agreement made to stop years of fighting.
The demons get humans to farm and eat as long as they leave the rest of the humans alone. That agreement has stood for what seems like centuries. But it gives the kids a goal. If they can get to the human side of the world, they may live. If they are not returned to where they belong to keep the agreement in tact.
Of course, they would need the same luck that keeps them away from pursuers, bounty hunters, monsters, starvation, illness... im exaggerating to get across how bad the luck issue is. Regardless, they have that luck in more ways than you would guess. You may be surprised at the gall the writers have to even write it in.
But if luck doesnt bother you, the show is great. Art, animation, sound....It is what you should expect. And it is what keeps even haters watching.

Rent a girlfriend, the title says it all but I'll actually explain.
Our main character is known as a simp. Or if you are reading this when that word is no longer a thing, Somebody/Sucka who Idolizes Mediocre Pussy.
He is a desperate virgin obsessed his ex-girlfriend. A girl he only seems to really like because she is attractive. At least he never says much about her personality when talking about her.
After she breaks up with him for very good reasons, he goes online and pays a girl to date him.
A girl would goes to school with him...and lives next to him...and their families know each other...
All
...
you need to know is that plot will always find a way to bring them together. Also because he is a compulsive liar, he constantly makes the situation worse for both of them. Which apart for it affecting the girl's time and social life, works for her because he pays a lot.
Obviously, it is popular to hate him in the community. But the waifu wars are strong.
And to be a lot more spoilery. His ex keeps him on a leash. Why date him when he will probably stick around any way. That and the plot drags them together anyway. And we still have more girls to add to this weird harem thing that isnt really a harem.
Of course this show is very popular this season and if you are here later you should very much still watch it. Love it or hate it you are gonna wanna finish it. It is just one of those shows.

This season's hyped shounen. Hyped up because it doesn't come from traditional source material and because it is really good.
God of highschool is the name of a fighting tournament with highschoolers. If they win, they get whatever they want. That's really all you need to know about that. The plot itself a little fast paced though. When you basically have 3 main characters you can't spend too much time on each of their arcs of course.
Even so, they are handled well with the time allotted. And since the characters all have similar goals of pushing the goals and philosophies of their masters/ those before
...
them. It might feel a little repetitive if they did spend a lot of time on it.
I say repetitive, but they are not identical back stories. Just basically identical motivations that allow everyone to bond together.
As we are only 4 episodes in, with this show's pace I feel like things are gonna change a lot soon but I guess that won't be in this review.
Moving on, the music is fun. It puts you in the mood for what's coming and that's the point.
The art is unique showing you that the show is unique. Also referencing the source material. Which of course is non traditional so it adds alot.
If you like ur battle shounen anime, definitely watch this.

The demon king sacrifices himself to allow for a better world to be formed. Eventually the time for him to reincarnate comes, and he finally sees the consequences of his choice.
While we say reincarnate, it is more accurate to say he got a new body. In other words, he is as strong as he was in his previous life, with all the memories.
More importantly, when he comes back he decides to go to school and learn about this new world. Also, he wishes to reclaim his place as the demon king. Actually that's the real goal, the school is kinda needed for that.
(Btw because
...
this is an anime, he basically builds a harem along the way. )
I think that's the best i can do without getting too spoliery.
In my opinion, this show is average across the board. That doesn't make it not fun though. The thing has it's far share of memes after all. It also has it's part in this season's waifu wars.
Not for having a good waifu, but a bad one. (I think that's the best way to put it.) For some reason this season people are picking out waifus with bad personalities or something. (None of this is important.)
So far the waifus are his driving factor for actually doing stuff because he's the actual demon king. Getting good grades and performing is something he can do in his sleep.
If you are looking for a simple show to burn time, give this one a shot.
Actually i don't know how much this will be worth watching once the season is over because the community is making it alot more enjoyable.
Watch it anyway.

This anime is about two people chasing a far off dream. It is something that a lot of people can relate to even if you dont care about clothes and this show wears it well.
One main character is a model that is too short to fit in. Another a poor boy who wants to design clothes. And the last character sits in the middle. The perfect model who wants to make clothes instead.
Watching everyone work so hard to reach their goals despite everything being against them is enough to make you cry. Watching them support each other. Watching the side characters push them and learning
...
so much in so little time about every character. Then again that might just be this show's great music. It can really evoke emotion on its own.
Normally i would complain about pacing in a show like this. I normally feel like it throws a lot at you very quickly, but it works very well here. If i can pick out anything as an actual negative about all this it might be the art.
It is great but other shows can do better for actually showing off clothes. I don't know. I love this show, that's all that matters

Where do you start with this "anime". Everyone was surprised it was being adapted in the first place due to how lewd the source material is. Then the anime actually came out...and it was lewder than the source material. This lead to events that broke the community while airing but we'll get back to that.
This anime is about some guys that like going to brothels. This brothels have succubus and succubus hybrids that use them to do...what succubi do.
Our main characters decide to start reviewing these brothels. How they work, what makes these types of succubus hybrids different from others, or what makes this experience
...
different in general.
That's it. Just watch these guys experience and talk about sex with monster girls. It fun, funny, and some of you guys might get off on it.
Back to what i mentioned earlier. This anime is a lot lewder than the manga. Everyone thought it was borderline hentai before...then this came out. This caused it to be dropped by funimation. It was too much for them so then you had to find someplace else to watch it. This caused am uproar because "funimation should have knew what they were getting into. This uproar leaked onto myanimelist. People wanted to spite funimation by rigging the rating system here to make it the most popular anime. (Then mal ironically updated the site causing the ratings to drop down significantly)
When you take all the drama and sex away from the show. It isn't the best show in the world. It doesnt have extravagant animation, the music isn't something anyone is gonna remember after a few months. It's an ok show.
It is hilarious to watch these characters interact with each other. They are all quirky and surprising with their own tastes or lackthereof. If it is too lewd for you, that is fine. But if you can handle vulgarity, its more than worth a watch.
