So assuming you aren't blind and you've read through the synopsis first and you've taken a good look at the score, I want to talk about why this show is good but slightly overrated.
We all remember when the show was about to air that it was labeled as the classic fanservice anime that comes along every season. But wait, something's off... the score is above the legendary 8.00 threshold for godlike fanservice anime! What the hell how is that even possible? You may find asking yourself. And to be quite honest, I feel the same even after finishing the show. The story itself is nothing
...
earth-shattering- this doesn't mean that it's terrible and deserves to be gutted, but instead, it means exactly what I said, nothing special.
If you came here for the thumbnail, you might be disappointed when I tell you that our one and only bunny girl is in that outfit a grand total of 2 times. Well if that's enough for you to turn around and say goodbye to the show, that's fair enough, since I almost did the same.
When an anime comes in with extremely low expectations but goes above people's expectations, people tend to start jotting it down as the "masterpiece of the season". This certainly is the case for this anime, since I really do think it's overrated. At the time of writing this review, Bunny Girl is at 8.63, but I'm expecting that to go down a bit after more people start watching it. It's at the score it is right now because the majority of the viewers are complete filth such as myself who give pretty generic garbage a 7+ since we enjoy that type of shows.
I would say if you're fine with romance and a bit of a harem tease-esque show, go for it. It's your usual harem, except it isn't... just better in every way. The mc establishes a relationship as the bunny girl's boyfriend fairly early on, but the show doesn't completely revolve around that. Instead, it revolves around some pseudo-science concept called puberty syndrome. To me, that was a big "hehe xd" to my face because what a bunch of bullshit that was. Anyways, if you just don't focus on what the overarching story is or if you don't look for any clues as to what puberty syndrome is, you'll 8/10 enjoy watching the show.
Overall, the score doesn't lie... if you came to this show for an experience similar to enlightenment, sorry but you won't find it here. Maybe a character to add to your favorites list or something along those lines, but nothing that will make you jump out of your chair screaming what a great show that was. It wasn't too memorable and the characters except for Koga and Mai don't really stick to me, but if anyone asks me how the show was, it was good enough for me to say that the show was good, and they should give it a try.
