You want one parody? You want one witty, pathetic, yet somewhat charming main character? You want one isekai that bends tropes beyond your expectations? Now you've got two. Isekai Ojisan and KonoSuba are labeled isekai, yet they're somehow bending all that you know about this genre of anime. You'd expect some OP character bending space and time to save the world, but here, they're just being themselves, and that's what makes these anime so great. If you want a refresher after your basic isekai that you probably watched over and over again, here are two great series you should definitely check out.

Death, suicide, life. What's the meaning for all those? Is there really a point to live? Learning about living and dying, these characters explore themselves. While it may be predictable, the woven messages in these films leaves you dumbfounded beyond words. If you're just looking for a good tearjerker or want to wallow in your misery, go for it.

A ghost story filled with melancholy, teaching us about the meaning of life. A beautiful tale of a group of friends, met either by coincidence or fate, longing of a way to move on and express themselves. While their character relations are quite different, friendships and bonds are what it all ties down to. If you're down for some dramatic tearjerkers, this is for you.

First of all, let me tell you that I thought that the concept of the animation of the video was quite similar, depicting the concept of losing someone important to them. Honestly, that was the only reason why I believed they were alike. As I continued to ponder, I realized the animation and music were both spectacular. The only reason why I discourage you to watch either one of them is if you don't really like the idea of a music video (if you came from "Kimi no Na Wa."), or believe that watching a whole two hour movie is too long for you (if you watched "Aisai"). Otherwise, go for it! I guarantee it will be worth your time.

A heavy plot with thick relations. With traumatic experiences, the mangas main characters from Banana Fish (Ash) and Boy Meets Maria (Maria) explores the art of overcoming difficulties of finding their own true self and their identity. These two manga are fairly similar (although Banana Fish is a slightly longer more complicated read), and you’ll surely love one if you loved the other.

I have to say, watching all the TV shows and movies out there, the premise with a fight to death is definitely compelling. With something to stake, your own life, and an award at the end in order to change your life or even the whole world, you are compelled to the characters as they dance to the tune of the game. Mirai Nikki and Fate/Zero are just that. With the endless action and compelling plot-line, I urge you to watch the other if you liked either one. Let the Battle Royale begin!

I’m not kidding. These two shows are SO similar at the start. Based on time-travel, the main characters travel back in time in order to try to save someone dear to them. Although it starts quite similar, the plot-line quickly begins to start to differ. While the main character of Tokyo Revengers, Takemichi Hanagaki focuses on his life as a delinquent, building relationships in the progress of his time travel, Erased focuses more on the mystery behind death which forcing the MC, Satoru Fujinuma to time travel. However, if you like the time travel aspect, I definitely recommend you try the other!

A cruel world. An unfair world. A diverse world. Why is the world so unjust? Why is it that we need to face hardships over and over and over? These two manga, Shingeki no Kyojin (AoT) and Tokyo Ghoul explore just that. Without knowing the cruelty of the world with their own hands, the main characters (Kaneki Ken and Eren Yeager) are oblivious to the problems of the world. If you need something with an amazing plot and a dark question underlaying it to puzzle yourself over, what you are about to read is going to be perfect for you. I guarantee it.

Craving some more action packed spectacular animation? Well, Jujutsu Kaisen (JJK) and Kimetsu no Yaiba (KnY) are the perfect fit for you. If you are engrossed with the amazing scenes in each anime, you definitely won't regret trying the other. Moreover, if you liked the premise of fighting supernatural beings (demons for KnY and curses for JJK) to protect or do something important to them, the plot is for you. Hope you enjoy the series, whichever you are watching!

In these two manga, the heroines wants to be "normal," and want to live a peaceful life, maybe with a slice of romance?! Following the same shoujo troupe and premise, the ML sweeps them off their feet and a sweet, sweet romance begins. Their personalities are very similar, with the manga having great art. If you liked one, I totally recommend you read the other!
