What is war? Is it necessary? Are there any victors?
Well, To answer that question, You must experience this grounded and dark story that is by no means meant for children (Despite how it looks). This is a very dark anime that deals with some serious subjects, War, Abuse, Child abuse, Rape and Personality disorders. These are some of the things which are shown in the series so beware if you get triggered easily.
Animation/Art : Really great tbh. Blew me away especially the vibe that the anime sets early on. Really grips you in. The art has an old charm to it tbh. Although it
...
can feel dated obviously but I think one shouldn't put this anime down or demerit it for it's animation. For its time, The anime looked amazing probably. There are also these moments in the anime where some character take a long pause before doing something or doing something. This keeps you glued to the screen and builds anticipation. The Villain is very hate-able and insufferable lol.
Story : A really fantasy based story with an overly optimistic yet likable main character that you honestly can't help but like him. At times the MC is so blindingly optimistic that even I as a viewer am baffled but to see his breakdown and despair was sad aswell. It's a A point to B point story which takes no shortcuts. The supporting cast it also used well here that you actually feel for them. While the story is not perfect, It was pretty good for what it offered. A short and simple anime that you can watch over the weekend and which will keep you hungry for more because the thriller and drama aspect is executed very well.
Sound design : The Ost and sounds mesh really well with the scenery and the scene being showed. Melodramatic Ost for a Melodramatic anime.
The beginning is also very exciting and sets the tone for the entire series. The ending, could have been better but I didn't hate it or anything. I was content with what was shown and that's a good thing imo.
All in all a very solid watch, I'd recommend this to people who can stomach some mature stuff. This was a pleasant surprise and I honestly wasn't expecting to enjoy it as much as I did haha. I usually don't binge anime nowadays but if I do then that means they're engaging enough and this one certainly checks that box.
To top it all off, A self contained story within 13 episodes?! Sign me up anyday! :)
Definitely give this one a try, You'll be surprised!

Picked this up after really enjoying the anime, The main difference between the anime and manga is the pacing and simplistic style. Let me elaborate:
The manga feels more like a slow burn and slice of life adventure, even more so than the anime. The art is simple and easy to grasp without going overboard. It does have it's moments but for the most part it's plain and simple.
The real highlight of this manga is the story and characters, Frieren herself is such a well written and extremely likeable character that you can't help but enjoy her whenever she's onscreen. The motivation of Frieren to
...
set out on a journey is also very self explanatory. All she wants is to experience human emotions and stuff that she took for granted always. In my opinion, thats a brilliant premise which is complimented by the well developed cast.
Frieren first and foremost is essentially a slice of life manga with bits of action sprinkled here and there. I won't say that the action is the main focus here but it certainly does flow very well with the story.
This is a manga which one should read at their own pace and really absorb so you can get invested in the world. Exceptional world building.
The story in every chapter feels like a random SOL one, new stuff gets introduced or a new village and then Frieren and her party solve the problem or accept a request and then move on with their journey. Its basically a light-hearted and easy to digest type of storytelling where the plot moves forward at its own pace.
Truly a worth reading manga. It just has that Fantasy feel and it sucks you in.
Thanks for reading!

Alright so I've seen enough episodes to form a review on this one, So might as well.
I'm generally not a fan of Delinquent anime, I haven't seen many at all and the most popular one that I can recall is Tokyo Revengers. This anime is basically Tokyo Revengers but done way better. I'll elaborate why,
1. The production values look high and the whole vibe of the anime is exactly how a teen/delinquent/fighting anime should be.
2. The animation and art is truly refreshing to look at. Not only that but the fight choreography is really really satisfying.
3. It doesn't drag stuff and wastes zero time especially
...
when it comes to action.
4. The characters each have their charm, Despite just seeing 6 episodes, I care about all of them and that's a huge merit in my eyes. Character designs are striking and really appealing aswell.
5. OST/Sound design of this anime is also very suitable for it.
These are my thoughts on this anime and I thought to convey them in the form of a review.
In my opinion, This anime deserves more attention and has the potential to become better as it goes on. I really hope it gets another season.
My inner Shounen nerd is also happy with the tropes being used here. It does get corny and cheesy, Yes. But it delivers when it comes to fights and the execution is amazing. Sometimes, all you want is a simple action anime that ticks all the boxes and in my opinion, This anime does that very well.
Thanks for reading!

This manga was way ahead of it's time, Like I'm honestly in awe at how Nagai Go sensei managed to make a story as unique and captivating as he did back in 1972, which stands the test of time and is still such a brilliant piece of media to this day.
I'll highlight some things about this manga. First and foremost, It is some of the most brutal and grotesque stuff you'll ever read/see so be warned if you can't stomach that stuff. It has ALOT of gore and nudity.
The art is really unique and quirky and has a certain feel to it. It's extremely edgy
...
both in the literal and figurative sense. A very raw feel is emanated from the art and it certainly compliments the story well.
The story was amazing, The twist was amazing too. Obviously I won't spoil it but you won't see it coming if you're going into this blind. The ending was also a great one imo, It tied up all loose ends in a beautiful yet tragic manner. No complaints there.
All in all, This was definitely one of my most memorable reads and I think it deserves all the praise it gets. It certainly is an influential piece of art that inspired many others and perhaps even inspired many anime/manga which have been released over the years.
Definitely give this a shot if you don't mind gore and nudity because what awaits you is something truly surreal even by today's standards.
Thanks for reading!

Based on the Novel, La Sorciere by Jules Michelet.
Also a disclaimer, This is an X-rated film that children should steer clear from.
Let me preface by saying that this is The most unique and weird movie I've ever seen. Why that is you ask? Simply because it's filled with trippy acid visuals, A very novel and psychedelic approach to storytelling that I've never seen and it actually has minimal animation too. What I mean by that is most of the movie is just pictures that convey stuff. Yet I still think this movie managed to engage me as a viewer and I was not bored
...
at any moment. It has a very Avante Garde vibe (If you're not familiar with this term, It basically means that it shows events and depicts them in a very unorthodox manner, different from conventional means). This type of storytelling may not appeal to everyone but it certainly has it's charm.
Keep in mind, This movie is a very adult oriented movie. It's basically a feature length sexual innuendo of a movie, while on paper that sounds very bad no? But the execution here is nothing short of amazing. I seriously think this is a marvel of animation and everyone should watch this atleast once.
It follows the Tragic story of young woman named Jeanne, What follows in her life is nothing short of earth shattering. A very gruesome movie that does not hold back in showing what will happen, A very bold approach by the director. I was left disgusted, happy yet satisfied by the end of it. To make me feel all of that, within a span of 86 minutes is a sign of a good movie.
Watch this if you want a unique one of a kind experience, A very thought provoking movie that seems filled with sexual stuff but is more than meets the eye.
What shocked me the most is that there was an empowering message for Women at the end of it.
Seriously a good watch, Would recommend if you can stomach the gore and sexual imagery. Definitely not a kiddie friendly movie.

Well well well. This was hands down one of The most unique manga I've read. From it's artstyle to it's execution and even upto it's ending. It was all truly a one of a kind experience. So unique that after finishing the final chapter, I was lost for words. When a work makes you feel lost (in a good way) that's how you know it was done incredibly well.
The story starts very basic-ish, The Protagonist Phos is also very different in the sense that not only does he not have any lofty aspirations, He just wants to be useful and loved by others. If
...
there ever was a simple wish then that would be it. What Phos goes through in the span of this manga is nothing short of inconceivable, tragic, hopeful and depressing. All at once.
The art (although at first it was a bit hard to grasp what was going on sometimes but it evolved very intricately throughout the series) is a highlight here. Like seriously, it's stellar and compliments the story perfectly. Another thing to highlight is the excellent use of black and white that the author Ichikawa Haruko managed to accomplish here.
The one standout point of this manga is that there's no good or evil here. You look at some characters and you're like, They are very clearly evil but that's where you're wrong. There's no clear good or evil line to be crossed here and this series tricks you alot into thinking that. Definitely made me feel very polarized as to whose side I should take. Making the reader question themselves is a sign of good story telling.
The ending, while not the best definitely seemed like the best that the author could come up with and for that, I respect the author very much. Actually having a conclusion to a series as beautiful as this is very satisfying. Many people might not be fond of poetic endings but the ending is certainly on the good side, atleast for me.
The themes are also very thought provoking, like for say what if there were no humans, or there was everlasting happiness? Will we get bored of living forever. The series has so many tonal shifts, it goes from a happy adventurous vibe to a chaotic all hell loose vibe while also retaining it's charm. It goes through so many developments from start to finish and even the protagonist goes through so much that it's honestly a surreal experience.
I'll conclude my review by saying that this is definitely a one of a kind manga that deserves all the praise and should be read by more and more people, You may not like it at first but it will gradually suck you in and you'll be left feeling either, Happy or Sad at the end of it.
Thanks for reading.

I really stumbled upon a hidden gem with this Manga. It's a rare example of a good and completed story. One of the most fun stories I've read or experienced in a good while.
Enter Black Cat, A severely under-popular Shounen from the early 2000s which deserves more credit and recognition than it gets. It has all the standard Shounen tropes but to be honest, For it's time, Kentaro Yabuki really did his best. If you don't know who Kentaro Yabuki is, Then he's the Mangaka behind To-Love Ru, a very popular Ecchi series but not many know about his earlier work which was this. It
...
has varying degrees of seriousness and lighthearted-ness.
The thing that I loved about this manga was that it has no unnecessary clutter or bloat, It had a simple story conveyed beautifully. Starts from point A to point B without overcomplicating the plot, I feel like this is something that should be incorporated in more recent manga.
Story : Really basic and simple premise, I was very satisfied with what I was shown. It has a simple yet beautiful story with no overarching plot, It just goes from Point A to Point B and that's it. The naming sense behind this manga is also really fantastic once you get to know the main character and his personality is in tune with the vibe of this manga. The pacing of the story is also perfect, It doesn't feel like it's going too fast or slow, It just sort of has this laid-back approach and I was really a fan of this. Plus the ending is done really well and left me fully satisfied.
Fights/Abilities : The fights are very easy to follow and the flow is really smooth. The abilities aren't unique or never done before but the way they are portrayed is very satisfying.
Art/Panelling/Dialogue: This is where this manga impeccably shines the brightest. Truly amazing art in every single page and the important thing that I'd like to point out is that reading this manga never made me feel like it's cluttered or has too much going on. The art compliments Kentaro sensei's beautiful panelling, I honestly really loved reading and swiping through ever page because it was such a breeze. The only manga which I recall where I had this same feeling was Dragon ball (A huge compliment, I know). The Dialogue and plot connects beautifully and nothing feels forced. The cherry on top is that not once in this manga, is there a single panel that left me confused as to what's happening. The action is very easy to follow and light on the eyes, It's not very dialogue heavy either. It truly is an achievement to create a manga like this.
If you just want a simple manga to pick up with no overcomplicated stuff and is super easy to read through ever for a beginner then I would 100% recommend Black Cat to you, regardless of whether you're a Shounen fan or not. I seriously cannot state how easy to read this manga is. I honestly cannot fathom how this series never got it's proper popularity much outside of Japan.
It also has a very important message to convey, You can be happy without forgetting your past, Your past is a part of you regardless of whether you like it or not, So move on and live your life to the fullest because you only get one shot at it. Such a beautiful yet bold message.
I really really enjoyed this and will give it a 9/10. It won't be an exaggeration to say that this was one of THE BEST SHOUNEN I've had the pleasure of reading. As a standalone story, it might not be that good but as a Shounen it was everything I wanted.
I hope Kentaro Sensei one day comes back with a sequel to this one.
Thank you for reading!

My reason for writing this review is very simple, All I see are negative things and reviews on the internet about this anime/manga when infact it does not deserve all the hate that it has garnered over the years since it's release. It was hailed as the next big Jump manga for a while but in recent years perhaps due to it's toxic fandom, it has garnered quite a negative reputation which doesn't sit well with me. All I ask is that you give this series a chance.
I will elaborate why this series is worth all your time via some key points, This review encompasses
...
both the anime and manga and will try to convince (you)the reader that this series is actually a well thought out Shounen.
1. Let's start with the main character Izuku Midoriya, Typical cookie cutter Shounen protagonist, Starts out really unremarkable but actually develops into a really emotional guy. His kindness towards all attitude is something that we all need to follow in our lives atleast. I see the criticism that he cries a lot, Now tell me why that should be a negative thing? Infact, Izuku is one of the most emotional Shounen jump characters due to his diversity in emotions. Now let's come to his motivations, Pure and simple which are to surpass his teacher. (Seen a million times but where's the harm eh)
2. The cast is really amazingly well developed and the author is a genius when it comes to character development. The villains in this series are actually one of the best written including the main Antagonist (Shigaraki). Initially, I also hated him but after reading through, I was like damn this is some really intense backstory and I couldn't help but understand his point of view. Horikoshi (The author) has a way of handling even side characters so well.
3. Katsuki Bakugo (Yes you heard me right, The character which was hated by everyone including myself at the start of the series). At first glance he pisses everyone off but I swear in all my years of Shounen watching, I've never switched my perspectives about a guy as much as I did with him. Horikoshi really really nailed his character development and I think he became one of the biggest strengths of this series.
4. The story. It doesn't do anything fancy, just takes the basic Shounen formula and amps it up. Arcs are done well and it does not feel like it's going in a confusing way or anything like that. Every arc has purpose and every plot point is covered very neatly. It's not the best story out there but it gets the job done. Power of friendship stuff is here too but I mean, Isn't that in most Shounen? So I won't subtract points for that haha.
5. People actually die here, surprise surprise. Most Shounens play it safe by doing off screen deaths but the author is very bold when it comes to deaths and does them in a flashy yet thought provoking manner. You can't help but cheer for the losers and villains lol.
6. Godly art. Horikoshi Kohei is an absolute madman when it comes to drawing. I won't be lying if I said that part of the reason of the success of MHA is due to his amazing illustrations. Now incase of the anime, It's handled by Bones. One of the best studios of modern times does a perfect job of adapting the manga. Very little room for error actually.
These are the points which I think make MHA a very splendid Shounen. See, if you don't like Shounen then you won't like this. But if you've read or seen a few of them then chances are that you'll probably like this one too because while MHA doesn't do many new things, it certainly does what it does excellently.
I hope this review convinced even one person to give this series a chance, If yes then welcome aboard because the series is in its final arc at the time of writing of this review.
All we need is a solid ending and I think MHA will go down as one of the most popular Shounens of this generation.
The series overall gets a 8.5-9/10 from me. It's no masterpiece but it's pretty damn fun to read and watch.
Thanks for reading this review!

My impression for this series was way different than how this series actually is, that is to say it isn't bad or anything. Just very different from what I had in mind being in the anime community and consuming the Shounen genre.
This review of mine is basically going to be a dissection of the anime because I wrote and kept updating it as I was watching it;
• Firstly, The initial 5-6 episodes are basically just introductory episodes to set up the world of Soul eater and the cast. The cast is vibrant, quirky and solid. No issues there, even the concept for Souls and the
...
whole transformation into weapons part is very neat aswell. My issue lies with how this anime executes the concept, it feels really slow pacing wise and it's overloaded with comedy (which is funny at times sure).
• I guess this is a case of invalidated hype which I built subconsciously over the span of several years as I kept hearing the name of this anime in a lot of places. I expected it to be much more engaging I guess? I really like Shounens so for me to say this about a Shounen feels very weird lol.
• The fight scenes are well done, Bones did a great job in that aspect and The visual aspect of this show is very unique I must say, soundtracks are good and The OP and ED are all bangers.
• The 18th episode really changed the whole anime for me, it revealed some exciting stuff and the 20th episode was the turning point. I really enjoyed the twist. it's gotten very interesting now. So basically it took 20 episodes to get going lol.
One important thing to keep in mind here is that after episode 38, It's all filler content since the manga was not done yet so the staff went ahead and made an original story and ending to conclude it. It's not the best ending for sure, but it isn't bad at all. It did the job of providing closure atleast so props for that.
Overall, I'd say this was a fun and enjoyable watch. It's biggest strength is the amazing cast and animation. The major drawback for me was that the actual story took very long to get started and get me invested along with the story being all over the place. Other than that, If you're a fan of Shounen like me, I think you'll enjoy it regardless.
7/10 from me, Time to read the manga and compare the two.
Edit : I ended up reading the manga and it's way better than the anime. If you only have time to do one then just read the manga instead.
Thanks for reading!

This manga is very old and is critically acclaimed aswell so it has no shortage of good reviews but I felt like collecting my thoughts about it and ended up writing all of this so please bear with me.
This is one of the best things I've read and I'll also state that I've never been interested in Basketball at all and even someone like me had a blast reading this.Honestly it has one of the best endings I've seen in modern times. What Takehiko Inoue-sensei achieved with Slam dunk is nothing short of phenomenal, This manga is flawless and everyone, whether they like basketball or
...
not should give it a read.
I first started watching the Slam dunk anime on a whim because I randomly bought a shirt with the main character (Sakuragi Hanamichi) on it. I then decided to watch the anime and I ended up really liking it but unfortunately it never had a complete run. Fast forward to a few years after that and I finally decided to read this manga after putting it on hold for years and boy was it worth every single minute. Without spoiling much, all I can say is that while this is a story about an underdog but it several layers to it and it's not as simple as the readers would think when they start. I certainly was surprised when I read the final chapter, in a good way.
Let's start with the story here, Sports manga don't need to have a good story in my opinion. All they need to do is portray a realistic impression of the sport that they're based on and Slam dunk does exactly that. It's one of the best depictions of Basketball you can find in anime/manga.
It's a really grounded story, with heart and charm. It follows the antics of Sakuragi Hanamichi who is a newbie to basketball like how I was to basketball when I started this manga but the journey that he goes through to learn and play basketball is absolutely breathtaking. Won't spoil much but it's a simple story done to perfection.
Now let's come to the art of Slam dunk. You won't find any crazy or wacky stuff here, instead what you'll find here is simple panels which portray human emotions filled with so much details that it's honestly mind-blowing how good the art is.
The art is one of the highlights of this, surely. A little information about the author of this manga >If you don't know who Takehiko Inoue is then you should because he's one of the most revered and popular Mangaka of modern times. He still is currently publishing a series at the time of writing this post.
What Slam dunk truly excels at, is the portrayal of Humans trying their absolute best at what they love. How Takehiko Sensei uses his main character to express emotions and thoughts is really worthy of credit. The main character is one of the goofiest and savage I've seen in any Shounen. He's basically the opposite of how Shounen main characters are supposed to be but this story truly uses him to the max. What Takehiko Sensei teaches us via this manga and his main character is the lesson of persistence, determination, willpower and courage. Even at our absolute worst, what do we have? We have ourselves and our efforts that can once again take us to the peak of our lives.
I think the message of this manga is very beautiful and inspirational. I can't even imagine it's impact on people who play or enjoy basketball but even to an average Joe like me, his message came across wonderfully.
Keep trying, Day after day. One day you'll surpass the people who you look up to because at the end of the day, they too are humans and so are we. So it's all about not giving up and how well you handle your mental state of being and perspective.
This was no short of a masterpiece and I had so much fun reading it that I finished it a bit too fast lol. It was an exciting and thrilling read all the way through and had some really exciting games aswell. The last match was jaw dropping and I actually felt the emotion conveyed at the end of it.
This one deserves nothing short of a 10/10.
