It is not hard to see how much Samurai Executioner and the works of Kazuo Koike have influenced the gritty portrayal of Japan in Blade of the Immortal. Characters and world building in Blade of the Immortal, despite taking a different perspective than Samurai Executioner share simmilar concepts and ideas. Hiroaki Samura even introduces an indirect reference and tribute to the main character of Samurai Executioner in the third arc of Blade of the Immortal.

Both series are very faithful recreations of life in feudal Japan . Characters with great depth, masterfully written episodic tales with historical accuracy, ideals and honor in feudal Japan are just some of the common aspects of the series. If you have finished reading one of the series and are looking for something simmilar , this is the perfect manga to start.
