I literally have no idea what I just completed. What was going on? What is happening? Who are they? What is that? It has really cool idea on the base where we get to see the world of inventors, philosophers, artists etc. Enjoyable conversations (when they are translated properly), exotic sceneries. But, really man, I have no idea what was the serie about overall.
If you are not a native Chinese speaker (since I am not) and if the brain of yours is one of a kind or super-high logical thinking ability and super-neurons doesn't exist in you as well, It's a high probability
...
that this serie is a mess for you as well.
Give it a try for a few episodes if you were always interested in original characters and stories since you were a child; complete the serie if you are a native Chinese speaker or you got whats mentioned above.
Still, better both.

What if the super-powers / cultivation methods in most cultivation animes didn't exist? Or where have they come from? How was the world when these were first arrived/explored back then? This serie has a different approach to these "cultivation/soul" series.
This serie represents struggle to win over those powers both in diplomatic and martial way. But the "diplomatic" way is bit shallow and isn't really detailed. Still, most of the characters are intelligent and they are trying to make their way into it. So we get to see characters' own paths and their efforts into them to make it real. They got strong and weak
...
sides which we get to see as well. And apart from most of the series, they can think. Yes, they can think logistical. I know it's hard to believe but they can really think. That's already enough for a character, I would say.
Also different establishments, powerhouses and cities made it a bit more interesting yet they were not really detailed as well. This serie has an interesting world to hold onto the story yet the relationships between characters and their different purposes make the highest point of the serie rather than the world itself.
So, would say giving it a try should worth it.

Truly a different Chinese serie, this serie is a bit like Demon Slayer in sense of destroying anomalies. Of course it is really different world and the aspects of these anomalies are different. But the main character makes the highest point of this show. The mystery behind him is unknown and we get to see it step by step. Good fighting scenes. Fast pacing of missions. Giving more depth into the main character. For those who got bored of these "cultivation" series of China base, and looking for a different story could also like it since this serie gave a definite new approach for another
...
theme.
Our main character has an ilness or an anomaly which the serie pushed the answer of it to the viewers to decide which makes it unforeseeable events in the serie while we get to understand the base and the plot slowly. I would definitely say its a good idea to give it a try if got bored of classic cultivation themes.

finally. definitely something new. a fresh breath. lets eat the dungeon monsters tonight, bon apetit! fine art style, solid animations, tasty slimes, a cookbook: monsters edition, gordon ramsay dwarf, young karen, pickpocket kid, and a hungry man (very hungry). a journey which takes us immediately from the start. but not like cliche fantasy series. because, in this serie, everyone, everytime, everywhere, they are hungry, but... in a dungeon. amazing. just amazing.
a bit like isekai ojisan-san vibes in both style and plot. but nothing else to say, apart from this delicious looking anime.
should watch, and if you are hungry, must watch.

With its first few minutes that draws you in with great speed, its unique quality and different drawing style, its opening that will make you watch itself with its magnificent music and artistic texture even for those who do not like to watch openings, and its action scenes that are detailed in such a way that the sword clashes are not overlooked, neither overwhelming with too much nor insufficient with too little throughout the series, with its witcher-esque music playing behind the battle, with scenes of familial drama touching those common points of the soul of the Far East and the Middle East, with comedy
...
scenes that are lightly touched for a calm smile, with the storyline that flows and the points of mystery that are uncovered, with the intricate feelings of crime and justice of ancient times, With scenes where black is not so easily separated from white, where the judgment is left to us, with our "hero" who is very charismatic but who is actually the main character of the classic samurai series, with the way he makes us feel the unique details and atmosphere of the cities and places of the old period, and with the care that we feel in the quality productions of old cartoons one by one without losing sight of them, It is one of the best series to be found in recent times, with a quality and realistic portrayal of the intrigues and diplomatic deals made in the struggle for power, unlike other productions where characters are forever nailed to the series just because they are loved.
Must watch.

This anime, which we can liken to a "colony sim" game, at least differs from other Chinese anime in terms of subject matter. If we imagined that a game with fantasy, colony sim, rpg and open world tags was adapted to anime on the basis of a power struggle with dnd-like politics and the player was turned into the lead character in this anime, we would be pointing to this anime. A viewer who likes the aforementioned game tags will not regret giving this anime a chance. However, it should be noted that it is not a very high quality production, and it is possible
...
to see a very fast narrative in terms of story flow and fast progression that cannot normally be achieved in short periods of time.
Although we can overlook this negative aspect to some extent since the anime is set in a fantasy universe, it will be quite possible to say that some of the characters fail both in terms of dialog depth and uniqueness, especially the "evil" character, a character who has no depth, whose goals and reasons we do not know, and who seems to do evil just to do evil. It could be argued that the motives and ideological justifications of such a character could have been left to the audience, but the fact that the script as a whole lacks such depth makes us conclude that this idea can only lead to good. Until the final scene of the series, because in the very last scene we learn the purpose of our first villain. This is a minus for those who can't wait until the finale and like to understand the series as they the plot progress.
There is also a Kant sequence that follows, which I felt like I was watching a DnD adventure in my bones, and this sequence is much better rendered, backgrounded and conveyed to the audience to some extent than our first "bad" character. The characters that are not rendered deeply and the dialogues that lack emotion, as they are members of both the "good" and the "bad" sides as a whole, lose the effect of the fiction written in a black and white opposition, thus negatively affecting the progression of the story as a whole. So this series as a whole convinced me to read the novel. Not that bad, but bad enough to make me read the novel... or good enough, I don't know.

its such thrilling and unique story. do we still see some cliche plots... no it just feels like on of them is coming up but turns out not to be. there are some aspects in this serie which makes it different than the classical shounen genre and naruto-like hidden power animes, which is hard to find in this huge pile of low quality animes. the bond between our "two" main characters, makes us feel it through the events, and the loneliness of the first introduced "main" character, gives a depth into the storyline while it continues. even though we still have that one kid in
...
the serie, who is always being nice to others, its necessary for the whole picture that the writer was trying to show, and that doesnt offend the eye that much. we are taking a journey between the right and the wrong in different stories and from different perspectives. there are decent diplomacy scenes where no one literally cares about ethics, they care about their wellbeing, like a realistic one. where stories being slowly uncovered right before the viewer's eyes. and the music both used in opening and ending is great, it makes you feel the "journey" aspect of the serie.
there is nothing to tell that much...
man... its just great, a great serie.

This, this is wrong. Tate no Yuusha had great potential within the revenge storyline among isekai series in the first season. Our main character, Shield Hero, had a storyline which he continues to improve himself, getting new friends, understanding the world he sent to while having the total revenge plan in his mind.
Story & Characters
(may contain minor spoilers)
This season (at least first 5 episodes so far) we can barely see our protagonist, the Shield Hero or his friends, thanks to our green haired girl, Rishia and our big boy, poorly animated, immortal spirit tortoise. First of all, I have to say the dialogues between
...
Rishia and Ost Hourai have no depth, they just keep crying, feeling sad and making feel themselves better by "supporting" each other by using such emtpy and dreadful same sentences over and over. Also this season we can see nothing about character development in them, our green haired Rishia, just puts on her "chicken" costume, keeps talking about Archer Hero, does ABSOLUTELY nothing and keeps running around while crying. I can understand the shy characteristic of Rishia, and the emotions that remained from her experiences with her parents but sadly, we can't see any kind of improvement or change neither within the character or the dialogues while the serie carries on.
Also since I haven't read the manga yet, I have a prediction and strong feeling where Rishia becomes more friendly about the Naofumi and less concerning about the Archer Hero, Itsuki as the journey continues. Which is going to end up making her stay in the Shield Hero's party and having a connection with the squad and that makes me less hyped about their future relations, but I guess we need to see whats going to happen next.
Lastly, our protagonist, Shield Hero becomes another person in this season, there's almost nothing left from his past revenge or anger. I won't judge the change of his character to a way that I don't like, but I am not really sure about its being that quick. Sadly, we can't get to hear well-established dialogues about his past experiences, his thoughts about recent events, about the things that made him change to a person which we see in this season, much more calm.
(contains spoiler)
And the story so far, its just boring. Its cool to see other kingdoms and their powerful sides, using them in a battle and so on but, who would attack a giant tortoise with giant shell by using catapults? Not me, but apparently that seems logical to kingdoms and Shield Hero. Also can that big boy tortoise please die? Cutting his head off won't make him die, stabbing him in the heart won't make him die and now we have to kill the new best friend and babysitter of Rishia, Ost Hourai. What a fascinating, thrilling plot twist right? How could I guess Ost Hourai was actually the spirit itself? I mean alright, just joking but neither we or our characters in the serie had no strong emotional connection with Ost Hourai. We couldn't even get to understand her feelings other than past poor dialogues between her and Rishia or the events that happened on the battlefield where she defends the soldiers. And watching a story where I don't even understand the characters or their true feelings is just not really fun for me.
Art & Sound
(contains spoiler)
I felt like this season had a downgrade in terms of art and effects. (I won't even talk about our tortoise boy) I just want to mention that a special occasion where the tortoise had his head cut off, and thanks to god, our Hero's party have an invisible special skill that protects themselves from the absolute bloodbath. Not even a single drop landed on them. Also the explosions on the battlefield, the ranged counter attack of tortoise, shield skill effects and the characters itself felt the like overall quality was better in the first season. I really couldn't pay attention to sound&musics so I will just skip them.
Overall, this season is a disappointment for me for now and I couldn't really have fun while watching. The battle scenes and discovering about the tortoise wasn't really exciting for me. Rishia's empty and predictible dialogue scenes even made me skip some parts of episodes which I've never done while watching an anime before. And for me the overall is 4/10.
