Hello there, friend!
We at the Australian & New Zealand Anime Club are proud to present... Our very first newsletter!
This community was founded on the 28th of January - 2015, and since that time we've come a very long way.
You are only reading this because YOU made it possible by being a very important piece of what makes this club what it is.
That said, we are happy to announce that we're coming close to reaching the 1,000 Member Milestone!
It's a wonderful thing to know that there are so many fellow Aussies and Kiwis who love Anime and we hope that we only continue to grow from here on out.
About the newsletter:
So you might ask, what's this newsletter all about?
Well, great question. We've scratched our heads a few times and figured that this newsletter will be dedicated to letting you know that we're active!
Despite the substantial growth of our club, there is still a handful of you that we still haven't had the pleasure of getting to know.
We want you to understand that this is a safe and fun club, but if you're shy then we're not going to force you to participate, this is simply to remind you that there is a place for everyone at this club, so if you ever warm up - come and say hi!
Here's what's happening right now:
We have a wide selection of club activities that you can participate in, from anime discussion to club games or casual conversation.
Anyone in the club is free to make up whatever thread they feel would interest people!
What we hopefully have planned for the future:
GFX Competitions, Giveaways, Club Member of the Month, Gaming Groups and more!
So, other than that, there isn't much to say this time around but hopefully the next time we have to do this, there is much more to look forward to.
We again are thankful to have you, and hope that you come and have some fun with us sometime soon.
- Yours truly,
The Australian & New Zealand Anime Club.
Hey there!
Mafia society is a new club dedicated to playing mafia with other MAL users. We take any suggestions to make sure our users are having a great time. If you don't know what mafia is, you can check the basic guide here: http://wiki.mafiascum.net/index.php?title=Newbie_Guide
Sorry about that. I'm actually new to the forums on this website. I was pretty sure that I understood what the thread was about before I posted but I guess I didn't.
I just noticed your location. Sydney huh? You're actually a fellow Australian then? A pity we seem to have such conflicting viewpoints.
It's disheartening to think that you couldn't make it to the end, but ultimately it's up to you. If you don't enjoy the manga then simply move on. I on the other hand cannot abandon it so easily, too much nostalgic value it has.
About Kaguya, she actually intrigues me which is why I don't mind her inclusion. Ever since she and her children were mentioned in detail, my interest for the manga has picked up. Madara, Obito, Pain...they were all just mildly entertaining but her, especially her alien status. Where was she from? What was her homeland like? Why did she come here and eat the fruit? Is that why she's preparing the Zetsu army and absorbing the world's Chakra? To recreate her old civilization? She brings to the table so much more depth, interest and questions, while Madara was just simply another Uchiha who had strayed away from the will of fire.
Though I do agree with you that she was introduced too suddenly. Still, we know quite a bit about Izuna so that isn't an appropriate analogy. Maybe comparing her to suddenly introducing the Sage's brother is better? We were always led to believe that the sage was the lone founder of Ninshuu after all.
Wow you really liked Baccano huh? What in your opinion made the series so enjoyable? I watched it earlier this year in January I think, I was somewhat annoyed that many of the characters weren't fleshed out as much as I wanted them to be. I felt like the series strives so hard to show so many different persectives and characters and situations that it just ended up mostly looking convoluted and meh. I'm not trying to trash your series, just wanted to get my opinion out there. I didn't hate it or anything (gave it a 6 which is still above average for the action scenes and some particular characters that were cool like the rail tracer conducter dude and Ladd Russo was unique but somewhat annoying still).
You have some pretty cool to watch anime. I will say defintely watch Black Lagoon, I watched it in February I think. Its just one of those series that every anime fan should watch, heard you like "Fucking Bad-Ass" anime, and this one ranks high on that spectrum. It has a variety of unique characters, and actually has quite a few females that are very powerful/not dependent on men at all, which is unique.. I still have to watch Hellsing Ultimate, the only reason why I haven't gotten to it yet is because I'm waiting to buy it on Blu Ray, I know it'll be good so I want to watch it on my big screen in my lazyboy chair with the surround sound fucking blasting me to death..
Chobits... hmm.. I'm basically done with the manga (very short manga, only like 88 chapters?). The manga is just Meh to me, I don't know how different teh anime is from it. I mean the overall premise and overall themes presented in it are very intersting, but the actual execution of the "story" is very very mediocre in my opinion, and be prepared for many "Cutesey" moments ugh. Not a bad series, but most certaintly not as great as many make it out to be in my humble opinion. In the words of GRARKADA the youtuber, I would give it a "rent it" or "stream it" (if your bored), even though I bought the whole manga. Not really worth downloading or buying in my opinion, unless you end up liking the series way more than I did.
Valvrave..the Pen..ahem "Liberator." Oh man, many people were expecting this to be similar to code geass for whatever reason (maybe someone or a few people from cg staff worked on valvrave too?) but not even fucking close. Its okay as a stand alone mech series, but you can't even compare it with those uper-eschlon shoes with mechs in them like Code Geass or some of the better Gundams. L-Elf goes hard though, way better than every other character in that series that's for sure. After watching it, I'd say my time would probably have been better spent watching a superior series from the same genre, I can't think of much this show does that has been done with much better execution by other mecha series. I'm sort of partial towards the mecha genre myself in terms of anime taste, so I still gave it a decent rating. I tend to overrate anyway, alot of my 7's are probably closer to 6's quite honestly.
