Even though this is technically a second season it really isn't, it's just 4 episodes, and the worse part is it's basically all filler. The entire season (minus probably 5-10mins of content) is ALL filler....

It also does not continue where the show ended. Season 1 ended with them saying they would explore the world but they are still in liones? Ban never left like he said he was going to? And also Diane is regular sized now because "merlin did it" which makes me think Merlin could easily become a prop used to pull whatever out of the writers ass and could lead to ... non stop rugpulls this point forward

The animation and soundtrack and basically everything else is the same from season 1 though

Overall this is not a second season at all, I wouldn't even call them a set of OVA's because there isn't any story here really, no development, very slightly story threads emerging and a couple of things to set up season three but aside from that there is near nothing of value in this "season"

What starts as what could be a pretty interesting premise quickly descends into a cliche ridden show with little originality,

Plot - 2/10
Very basic plot thats been seen a million times before riddled with every cliche from both shonen and medieval stories. Alot of things build up with little or underwhelming payoffs or happen extremely suddenly with little build up.

There's also a plot of one of the characters falling in love with a 3000 year old fairy who just so happens to look like a child so yeah....

Characters - 3/10
The only characters that really have any depth are king and ban, Diane to an extent ... also, every other character has little backstory or even development.
Every character is also either completely useless or insanely overpowered with very little in-between

Art - 5/10
Decent animation, nothing to really complain about but nothing amazing either

Sound - 5/10
Same as the animation, a fine soundtrack. Nothing to complain about but nothing to praise either

Enjoyment - 5/10
Even with all the issues with the show I did fine myself enjoying it to an extent, I think it was mostly cause I liked certain characters though such as Ban, King, Gilthunder. Some episodes were pretty interesting and some pretty boring.

Good first chapter and laid solid groundwork for where the story can go. The story so far does seem pretty obvious though for what’s going to happen (was pretty obvious Himeki was going to help on the film and that Shinichi will make the film super early in) but still a solid story from just the one chapter released so far aswell as having pretty decent characters that have good chemistry, i like how the side characters in the movie club just happen to be in the story and aren’t just plot devices. the main character is also pretty likeable so far, probably cause his ... rants about films are relatable. it’ll be interesting to see how the plot develops into the making of the movie and the what im guessing will be love aspect between Shinichi and Himeki.

it’s also cool to see the inspiration from real world film.
in my opinion Ryu Shirakawa is the mangaka paying homage to real world director ‘Akira Kurosawa’
from calling him an inspiration figure in japanese cinema to even the films ‘Ryu’ made being similar to Kurosawa films:
‘Six Beasts’ = ‘Seven Samurai’
‘White Beard’ = ‘Red Beard’

It even says ‘Ryu Shirakawa’ inspired George Lucas, in real life Lucas was famously inspired by Kurosawa, not even mentioning the name similarities.

it’s also cool to see the ghost who died in the 90s learn modern technology and the evolution of streaming services and how films are watched now, could be used as a great comedy aspect as the manga progresses.

the manga could go easily up to an 8 or down to a 6 depending on how it progresses
i’m also probably extremely bias as i’m a film student

A disappointingly simple mediocre plot with bland characters.
for a one shot this felt way too fast paced which leads to plot twists and things happening just because. it’s only a one shot and pretty short so may aswell read it if you want to and art work is nice

it had some suprisingly cool and “gorey” scenes with the fights, i thought there wouldn’t be that level in something like this

managed to give enough background info about the world and characters for a ... one shot and how the characters fit into the world

but overall you will probably forget about it in a week
can’t decide between a 4/10 or 5/10
