The anime jumped the shark of good content provided by the manga, what a mess. Another on the list of good first season adaptations that were ruined by their second season. It had such promise with how well season 1 adapted the manga just to end up with this. My main suggestion for those who haven't done so already would just be to go read the manga. The show was great in general but the 1 minute anime original ending that skipped a ridiculous amount of content is just a fuck you to the audience, particularly readers of the manga.
Everything besides the end was a pretty good service both to the original manga and also viewers of the show in general. I would tell those who watched the show but haven't been reading the manga to start reading it, even if you just want to start off where the show left off.
