I did come here after finishing Spy x Family, and I've gotta say, I'm loving this "found-family" trend popping up. There are people who compare the two, but aside from being the killer parents of a little girl, there's not much more of a comparison. If you go into this anime with Spy x Family on the brain, you may be a little disappointed.
Buddy Daddies is about two men who don't even trust themselves to take care of a cat. They work within the crime underworld killing, blackmailing, and spying on different people at the behest of an informant. On Christmas Eve, a little girl

What It Takes to Be a Villainess

This is a reincarnation/switched souls manwha set in a fantasy world. Our MC is a college student who dies in an accident and wakes up in the body of a Duke's daughter - and that daughter has been a horrible person throughout her life. Not only that, this daughter has also been picked as a potential for Empress. She must compete in trials against the main victim of her cruelty while dealing with her victim's lover, the Crown Prince.
While I originally rated this as a 7, I've changed it to 6 after thinking on it for a while. The story was good, and I loved the ... Dec 27, 2021

I liked it more than I assumed I would. The story does move a little fast, but it's explained that the 5 chapters happen over multiple weeks (I'm guessing in an effort to make it feel less rushed). In spite of the short chapters, I felt that the characters' developments were reasonable and understandable.
The art is a little weird at times - mainly that our MC has maybe four facial expressions that are cycled through. The men are victims to the shoujo triangle face, but nothing too weird! It's a quick & cute romance story. I wouldn't expect it to change your life or add you ... Dec 25, 2021

This feels like a weird knock-off of Skip Beat. I'm not sure if it was the short amount of chapters or inexperience, but this... was odd.
Initially, I really liked the premise. I do have a bit of a soft spot for romance revenge stories and was interested. The pacing of this is super fast which, as I mentioned, could be limitations on chapters instead of inexperience. Regardless, it feels like everything happens in two seconds and the "character development" feels disingenuous. It's a decent read if you're trying to kill time - but I don't expect anyone to remember much of it once they're finished. Except ... Jul 17, 2019

This tried to be a romance, but it fell pathetically short. I actually thought I was in for a treat when it didn't spend 30+ chapters on the MC's trying to figure out their feelings... but the readers were backstabbed.
Instead we got overly cliched, obnoxious, and laughably transparent plot points. Ones that weren't even fleshed out. Sometimes the "plot points" were only a few panels. The characters were so obnoxious I had no idea why they were trying to be a couple. The female MC isn't just the typical dense-but-goodhearted heroine, she's the stupid-spoiled-dramatic-immature-unnecessarily argumentative kind. And the boy? Exactly the same. While reading this I had ... |
