๐๐๐ซ๐ญ ๐: This part is the base of the series. It used Rafal, a prodigy as the protagonist, and the part was quite good but maybe the least in comparison to the other parts. Rafal realising Heliocentrism might exist, by slipping into a puddle was quite a childish scene for me. I expected this to be a lot darker and serious. Like him going to his house, trying
...
to understand the theory and then realising it but in a way darker way would've made me feel better. But it is what it is, this one isn't bad but could've been better like I said. Rafal as a character was absolutely loveable and cool. His motivation and sacrifice was great and it's not like he doesnโt get any mention afterwards, he does get mentioned and has great impact by the end. And as a part just to set up the base of the series, it was a very peak part. Even as a sole part, the introduction and the conclusion was great.
๐๐๐ซ๐ญ ๐๐: It's the part where things get way more interesting. The characters get an extra layer of depth and writing. Especially Nowak, he becomes my favorite in this part, his psychology and his motivation gives that Askeladd vibes, although they aren't that close as characters. The side characters like Gras and Grabowski had so much impact, just as side characters. I count both Oczy and Badeni as protagonists, both were amazing as characters. Both's psychology, philosophy, and motivations were shown very well in just some episodes. Oczy's inability to watch the sky and overcoming it and his philosophy of the Earth and the heavens was great. It had great character arcs, Especially the Count Piast's "arc" (if I can call it one) showed Human's denial to facts for faith or personal conviction, very well. Like he couldnโt accept the fact that Venus actually was in its final phase, cause it'd make his and his mentor's life seem like a waste. And the last argument of Badeni and Oczy, about him isolating his research, was very thought provoking.
Anyways, great part, prolly my favorite.
๐๐๐ซ๐ญ ๐๐๐: This part was the most philosophical and thought provoking. Literally upscaled the characters way more, such as Jolenta. The philosophy of Schmidt and Draka on god and their conversation over it was peak asf. The part was full of thought provoking monologues. Using "Atheism", which was still alien to the series, was a good initiative. And Frei's betrayal was very unexpected, I literally thought the backstory was of Schmidts but it turned out to be Frei's!
And maybe that's what I like about this show, every character having their own thinking and motivations. Episode 22, changes everything of the series. Like Heliocentrism is NOT EVEN BLASPHEMY! the thing that ruined countless lives isnโt EVEN A THING?! And in this part, I realise that, maybe Nowak doesnโt reject Heliocentrism for faith, but for the hate he has for it after losing his daughter for this theory. And it becomes true in the next episode, man He was my favorite till now but then in this episode, I hated him so much! But then again after his conclusion, he became my favorite again๐ญ๐ญ๐ญ. Peak writing man, his conversation with Rafal and realisation that its Jolenta's hands was so fucking PEAK man. He is way better written than I expected. And I like how they changed the target, like till now I used to think Christianity and its blind followers are at fault for this but in this part, it becomes like the holy scriptures are right but the interpretation is at fault, as well as the one at the power. And how easy it is to manipulate people using religion and your status for your own ideology. Anyways, this part is the best in an objective sense.
๐๐๐ซ๐ญ ๐๐: Well, I didnโt expect much from this part (I thought it'd have a second season) and since it's only 2.5 episodes long. It actually starts in the same episode, where the conclusion of ๐๐๐ซ๐ญ ๐๐๐ happened. And boy, we see Rafal again! Though he is not the same Rafal it seems. I got an explaination from someone. And it was logical, so let me state it.
So it's like, all the previous protagonists' are imaginary or fantasy but, Albert isnโt. It was like to show how the actual stuff happened between the Heretics Vs. The Church. And when Albert says that he won't go as the same path as "Rafal", the actually does this and proves Heliocentrism (although it was Copernicus)
And it's stated that the people Nowak executed, their records are destroyed or burnt. So they won't be in the history. And it is actually ain't present in our history. And the Rafal Sensei, is like a thematic doppelganger.

The starting chapters of this manga can actually feel like a generic sports manga, with the protagonist being a prodigy, and him being an edgy loner adds a touch to being a more generic ass, but as the story progresses, it doesnโt stay the same, it becomes very psychological and deep. And about the artwork, the panels are SO GOOD and detailed, but tbh, sometimes the excessive detailing makes it hard to read. Like thereโs just too much going on in a single panel. The snowstorms, the rough mountain terrain, the text, and the badly compressed and noisy panels
...
kind of ruined the experience for me. Although I think thatโs my fault, and according to my intuitions, the original physical copy would probably make it 100 times better.
Me not knowing a shit about Climbing and it's method made it hard for me to understand some of the terms, but a google search fixed it tho, and another thing, I had a hard time with the flashback panels. In most manga or the mangas I've read, the flashbacks have a black background so the reader can immediately tell, but in this one, they just blend it in with the present timeline. It felt kinda unconventional and also made it harder for me to follow, although I caught up with how it works, with time.
