"It's the hentai that one can fully say they watch for the plot."

It's one of a kind; a combination of artwork excellence (the best art style in hentai), a beautiful story, a sweet couple & relationship between two main characters beautifully designed and written. I can confidently say that this is, overall, the best hentai animation bar none.

Each episode explores 2 relationships/couples: one predatory, and another a sweet loving affair. Each has one long hentai scene.
In other words, each episode will have 2 long hentai scene with everything else being the plot.
So if you're just looking for a hentai with tons of hot scenes ... just for rubbing it out... maybe not this one; you're going to be frustrated thinking "when they're going to do it" and that's no fun.
But if you're good with a notable chunk of the screentime being dedicated to an overarching story, this is it.

The art is beautiful. It has a unique art style to it. And the animation is a masterpiece; As expected from Nishikawa Takashi, the god of hentai animation.
Love the art in Rance, Koikishi, Baku Ane, Nudist Beach, Otome Dori, or those hentai with red skinned girl? You'll love this one too. They're all directed by the same guy. Prepare for long, bulbous claymores and vagina tongues. Very erotic. Love it.

The story is also a beautiful one.
It's a loving story of a tall strong youkai tengu women protecting a noble boy growing into an adult, as they roam and wade through dangerous & sometimes deceiving world where youkai exist.
Each episode shows you a deceiving relationship and a loving relationship; and that true love trumps all else even if it may look unappealing.

Journey & development that the main characters, Shaga & Ushiwaka, go through is wonderful. And will appeal to any of you who love the dynamics of a big, strong, and mature women guardian & a relatively nice and innocent boy.
Even her voice is arguably even tomboy-ish.
But if you're looking for their hentai scene... you have to wait. Yeah, these two doesn't get enough hentai time which is one of its imperfections. They get the same amount of scene as other couples, and I say that it's FAR from enough.
But it's a result of the story taking the route of actual romance development; and frankly, I prefer this over the usual hentai "let's get into bed at first sight" which is one of the reasons why this feels so different & the story so good.
If there's a chance, it'd be in a "spinoff" focusing on these two characters after they've developed. But I won't hold my breath. It's likely never going to come. There's nothing said about it, it's just my wish.

Another imperfection is that there's a big shortage of X-ray and camera angle that shows meat claymore & balls especially during ejaculation.
Those signature wildly unrealistic and exaggerated throbbing inflating & deflating bulbous longsword and balls as the sperm visibly gets pumped from the sack to the tip. Xray of the womb squeezing the meat claymore like someone squeezing a sponge.
And even x-ray of invisible sword showing a stream of juice inside it making their journey out into the womb. It's the best part of any Nishikawa Takashi's work. Need more of those erotic angles. But this complaint is really just me.
(Pssst: More studios should adopt this. Heck, all animators including indie animation artists need to adopt this.
Meat claymore that looks more like a skin-colored water pipe staying as still as a rock when it's ejaculating is so bland.)

Overall, Shikkoku no Shaga is one of a kind, very well-made hentai. You can tell that hearts are put into writing and making this.
It's the opposite of production-line hentai with slideshow animation, copy-paste body, and minimal story you usually see flood the market.
Of course, maybe you could say that this isn't on the same level as anime masterpieces. But really, for a hentai anime, this is by far the best of the bunch - it exceeds every other work by a wide margin and it's not even close.

I hope this gets picked up for a western release which is VERY rare, even better if it's a physical release in addition to digital release.
This is the best work of Nishikawa Takashi to date. And any of his work does not deserve to be marred by mosaic blur.
Shikkoku no Shaga is the hentai animation I actively seek to have a physical copy. I'd even fly to Japan to buy it if I know how. Yes, it's that good.
