This is important to consider an anime for what it truly is,
Tonikaku Kawaii is not a romance anime, don't get me wrong... it is not the USUAL type of romance anime.
Character construction, depth and main story line is quite poor (despite being broad with somes mysteries)
But... WHO CARES ? It is not what it is about, here you will not get something like Seishun, Sakurasou, Yahari, Toradora, Kaguya and so on and so on... here you are getting something FRESH, with none of the usual traits you can find on the classic romance anime set. (And i'm a big fan of the usual
...
romance)
Usually in romance type anime first kiss, confessions etc come the later the better, avoiding the tension between the characters to deflate and getting the viewer to think "Oh ok here we are.. and then what's next ?"
But on the opposite side here, you have a forbidden fruit, something fresh, without frustration, without tensions getting fueled among the episodes.. the characters getting married from the beginning with no main story line leading to it.. and it's quite enjoyable, it's quite fresh..
It's quite fresh to see a MC having some balls for a change, confessing, hugging, kissing his wife, instead of beating around the bush always and always and always...
Despite having the "max point" on the beginning of the anime, you don't get bored, every episode is an evolution in the relationship of this couple, and all the development you can't have in the classic romance set, here you can have them, like an "after story"... moving in together, sleeping together, kissing etc...
The Art as well as the music is on the same "trend" and perfectly suits this anime, it's fresh and original, not too deep, too complex, too detailed but original, enjoyable, colorful with a lot of rhythm
This is a good anime, a good romance, that you can easily enjoy, and get in with the flow, something so sweet and cute that you can enjoy without any heart or stomach aches, can easily be recommended...

Hand down to the art, visual and music, those are well mastered in this movie,
Music is good, original, different from the usual kind you can find in most anime, made me think of the musics of Hyouka even if not as great at all (they sticked to 1 or 2 songs all the way in this movie),
Art is very well done, details and beautiful character design, the only point that "disapointed" me is that they lacked coherences in small details, the main part of the art and even the story is very good but the the small details about them lack coherences... for
...
instance the story take place in Fujisawa / Enoshima, but besides the famous lighthouse from Enoshima all the other places are completely fictionnal, could have been great to use more the real places around the city to get more coherence, consistency and getting you more into it..
Same logical apply about the story or the characters, i believe the story and the character are okay, i like the way they kept it simple and easy, the characters are realistics but also not boring, interesting it's easy to relate to,
but some small details lacks coherence and make you ask yourself "why?" like Natsuki jumping from house to house in double jump 360, or slapping Ken 3 meters down to the ground.. having a beautiful realistic and unboring set i can't understand the point to add those small unreal details that give no sense,
About the romance, it was quite well done objectively but purely personal point of view i do not like 4 ways romance story, i prefer keeping it simple, 2 main characters, 1 main love.. getting 4 main characters, 2 main love it's too much for me, in every romance you want to relate to 1 guy, and support 1 girl, having 2 guys and 2 girls may give you and unwanted outcome about the matching pairs and hurt you a little haha :)
Due to the 4 ways romance and the small details that are not coherent i cannot resolve myself to give a 9 (or maybe a 8) to this movie, but despite all that, all the other point have been really worked into and it deserves at least a 7 (Good)

This anime is very frustrating, i'm ending this thinking that there might have been some room here to make maybe something nice... PA Works, the art is nice and... that's it...
Despite the art there for some points, there is absolutely nothing in this anime, no story, no head no tail, no real drama, nothing to surprise you, nothing to give you some emotions, you just get absolutely bored, i just wanted it to end and it was difficult for me to watch more than 3 eps in a row per day,
The characters personality is incredibly plain and boring as well, especially the guy
...
"MC" Kakeru, come on can you possibly think about doing a more boring character than this guy ? If you gave me for objective to write intentionally a boring character i wouldnt be able to beat this guy.
They wanted to bring on a complex story, that's ok and respectable... and a lot of other anime manage to deal with complexity and maturity, but you can relate to the characters, you can be moved by the story, be surprised by the depth and the construction of the world on it's characters.. nothing like this here..
But i want to believe that this anime could have got a better outcome with the same characters and same main story, maybe could have been better with more episode format taking more time to get into the characters, the story, side stories, instead of the forced and fast scrambled egg they gave here.. i dunno..
To summarize, could have been done better, incredibly boring in the way it is and i challenge you to watch this anime straight without pauses all the episodes in a row in a single day...
Gave an overall 5 for the arts and sound effort...

This anime is a good comedy, but difficult to get to the romance side of it,
Characters and some side stories are funny and you'll surprise yourself laughing in front of some of those silly situations,
On the other side, the main story lack consistency and lack "head and tail", you cannot understand what is the point and which path the main story follow to get you somewhere,
In fact you even ask yourself if there is still a main story especially between eps 6 and 10 where the side funny stories full episodes are "all-in" and everywhere with absolutely no story getting on,

2 episodes seems to be "getting to it" and being more serious about the relationships and characters depth, but it ends on a "funny twist", ending up asking... what's the point ?
Good comedy i recommend it... Bad romance wouldn't be recommending it as such...

This anime is quite enjoyable, but nothing outstanding,
The initial story line is quite ok but the anime tend to stick and rely too much around this initial plot, characters lack a lot of depth, lacks logic and consistency, feels almost "artificial/ unnatural" in their actions and are difficult to relate/ identify to,
In my own opinion this anime tend to rely too much around it's initial storyline, the island, the game, the bombs, enemies everywhere etc... but side aspects of the story are set aside, unnatural character construction, patterns and behavior etc etc..
I make it short here, you wont get a masterpiece that will move
...
you here, but something ok that you can enjoy,

How can you make worse ? That is really the question i'm having to myself after having watch this anime,
Maybe could have potential dunno, i don't know about the original manga/ source either, but the anime is a succession of WTF all along,
Character design is awful, quite passable for the mains, but all other characters are plains as possible (especially men) with no special traits whatsoever for those, to summarize the art in this anime is an absolute garbage, feeling like the studios wanted to finish this as quickly as it could be possible,
Storyline and characters construction may had a least some potential,
...
but every steps you take one episode after another is a succession of all errors and redflags they could have done, extremely previsible, you will never be surprised watching this anime, none of the traits they could have focus on to make this kind of anime maybe a little better (for some) has been worked on or poorly (Construction of the strength of the MC zero, romance zero, Harem zero, comedy zero etc etc... there is many genre that they could have tried to exploit to give at least a recognizable face to the anime)
Impossible to enjoy or to relate to any characters, especially the MC.
Every episodes especially at end of the season is difficult to watch, time lost for sure...
