The Inferno, The Purgatorio, and The Paradiso
Go Nagai made a manga of Divine Comedy, his inspiration for his other works like Maou Dante and Devilman. Go Nagai use his own interpretation of the original poem to add or make the manga more easy to understand for people who don't read the original poem.
The story is the same like the original poem, it tells Dante's journey through the three realms of the dead. He is guided by the Roman poet Virgil and Beatrice, his lover.
The art is very good. Go Nagai illustrated the manga based on Gustave Doré's art of Divine Comedy but also makes it
...
his own artstyle.
There are many people of the past that Dante met in his journey like Cleopatra and also Greek mythology creature like Minotaur. Unfortunately, Go Nagai didn't tell all the people Dante met in his journey.
Overall, Go Nagai did a very good job adapted a classic poem although Go Nagai cut some parts of the poem, it is reasonable considering the length of the manga. I would recommend this manga to people that like Divine Comedy and want to try the manga version of it or people that want to read Divine Comedy but don't like reading literature like myself.
