I’m not the kind of person that needs to pretend that everything they like is a masterpiece, somethings I like are good, but not perfect, others I have no problems admitting are just plain garbage. But Mygo? The fact that this anime doesn’t even get half the recognition it deserves drives me INSANE
no anime has hit me since day one quite like this. Every single scene comes together like a beautiful tapestry, every line of dialogue, every symbolism, every camera angle, it’s woven so expertly, that I’m in pure awe that many of the decisions made weren’t pre-planned at all.
The characters? So raw and
...
real, they’re messy, but not in the over theatrical way, they’re all just figuring out how to be teenagers, how to be human, and they can’t even call each other proper friends, but they understand each other. The mystery? (Because I fully consider this a mystery) incredible, I’m still geeking out about it, everytime I try to understand it it’s like I’m falling through the rabbit hole (in a good way), it’s not convoluted at all, and every piece of the puzzle just fits in a way that makes me want to bash my head against the wall and gift all of them therapy for Christmas. The music? I cried like a baby twice and plan to do more. It makes such incredibly creative directing choices, it doesn’t feel the need to explain everything through dialogues or monologues but just lets the story speak for itself, it’s, like, SUCH a funny show.I want to put everyone in a labyrinth an analyze their actions like a mad scientist
Considering how popular female lead band anime has become thanks to shows like bocchi, and with this year’s girls band cry, I have no idea how this hasn’t reached the top, maybe it’s because it’s attached to a pre-existing IP, but I feel like if it was another more popular genre, or if it had an audience of western male anime fans, it would get the 10 ir rightfully deserves
It all feels so natural and real, I’ve known these girls throughout all my life, and I loved them, and I hated them, and I was each and every one of these girls at one point, these girls know me and I know them. These girls hold me by the hand and tell me it’s ok to be lost, that I can go one, and I believe them.

Oh. My god. What did I just read. I got reccomended this by my best friend, and as a huge idol fan I expected to like it, plus setting it in the world of K-pop was definitely an interesting change of pace, but Jesus, this is far far more than what I could ever expect.
This has some of the most nuanced characters in the entirety of the idol/sports genre, maybe even all of manga as a whole, the only other that surpasses it that I’m familiar with is skip and loafer. This is such an incredibly smartly written subversion of the clichés of the genre,
...
first of all the protagonist, who instead of being a wide eyed simpleton with big dreams is a secretly insecure popular girl ace that wastes no time hitting you with the feels for her backstory, who joins the K-pop world because SHE was jealous of a wide eyed simpleton with big dreams (Eiran and tenka how I love you)
But the manga is not subversion for subversion’s sake, as I said before, every character, even the minor ones, are all incredibly nuanced, and each momrnt feel so personal to the characters, it never falls into clichés because of a misguided idea that “that’s how these stories work”, it always knows what it’s doing.
The artwork is genuinely amazing, it’s very hard to convey the beauty of dance through a still image, but every time these characters move I feel the energy and the passion, the characters are extremely expressive outside of performing too, and this manga is so good at really hitting you with the most perfect facial expression for an emotional moment that brings me to tears.
There’s a huge element of healthy rivalries and sisterhood throughout the story that is honestly my favorite, that truly respects the complexity of female feelings and relationships, the main girls make each other grow not despite, but BECAUSE of the many fights and disagreements they have, and they learn to grow up together and ultimately respect each other immensely, all relationships bring something new to the table!
The side characters as I said all feel alive and are each important to the plot, which is very important to me as I like it more when the world feels wide and rich with people, I can’t wait to see each of them again next chapters, even the male characters are interesting and nuanced, and I’m typically VERY critical of them in other works
Also jiwoo? Your confidence inspires me immensely, you aroace, non-binary queen asshole, you
In general I really reccomend this to ANYONE who’s into the genre, it truly makes you think unlike anything else and I feel like you leave with a different worldview and opinion of your fellow human peers, and I can’t wait for more

I love mysteries. I love horror. I love yuri. So imagine my joy when I found out about this new manga! I think you’re really gonna like it if you’re into classic rpg horror games, it has the right amount of ridiculous plot points mixing with a genuine freaky plot. I started reading immediately and thankfully I wasn’t dissapointed at all, the characters are all very charming and interesting, and quite creepy when they need to be! The main character is your classic shy soft girl who needs to overcome her trauma, but doesn’t let her fears stop her and is pretty proactive throughout the

whole story, the main antagonist is extremely interesting and I really enjoy squeezing my brain trying to put the story together. The premise is instantly a hook, sometimes though, the progress is a bit convoluted and I’m quite perplexed by the execution of some choices, plus since it’s not over I can’t give a truly final review, but I did want to give my thoughts cause I have seen no one else talking about this! I think it has an opportunity to be a dark little gem

I can’t in good faith reccomend this manga because I complitely understand it’s not for everyone. The main characters are some of the most selfish, delusional, actively detestable teenagers I’ve ever had the pleasure of reading about, who keep on making the worst decisions, leeching off each other and hurting each other for the whole duration of the comic. And it’s still not over! And sadly for me, I loved every minute of it. These teenage girls are just so interesting, it’s fascinating seeing them dig a bigger hole for themselves at every turn, I felt like a scientist watching cockroaches eating each other out
...
of starvation, it’s like a morbid curiosity of seeing how things can get worse. I’m also genuinely interested in their backstories who really open up a window to their actions. The art is gorgeous, but I will say I would’ve preferred if the girls were 18. I’m aware that teens can have sex and cheat on each other, and not every depiction of sex is tintillating, but by nature of being sex, it inherently kind of is, and doing that really wouldn’t have changed the story at all. I don’t think it’s perfect but ultimately a very interesting read if you enjoy getting mad
