Over-the-top action and comedy involving associations that have become commonplace in their worlds. One Punch Man has the Hero Association while Sakamoto Days has the Japanese Association of Assassins. The plots of both tend to be a balance between said intense action and more light-hearted slice-of-life comedy. Taro Sakamoto and Saitama are known for their overwhelming strength. Sakamoto Days even dabbles in hitmen with superpowers, altered bodies that make them more efficient at killing or masters of their craft, much like most of the heroes and villains of One Punch Man.

Mosty slice-of-life with a bit of supernatural thrown in, a good amount of comedy, and an action focused last half. While the backgrounds for the main characters may not be addressed during the first few episodes, there's actually a full episode dedicated to establishing Yu and Otonashi later on in their respective anime. Schools are the main settings for these stories, with a group of teenagers being the main focus. While Otonashi and Yu aren't similar at all in terms of initial personality, they have decent development throughout it that can feel about the same in terms of execution, and this is usually right after the episode that details their backstory/background. The endings can also be considered bittersweet.
