I still can't understand why so many people think this was a masterpiece. It had the most lackluster plot with sporadic time loop elements that really didn't make any sense.

The soundtrack was decent at best, and it had a homely and slice of life feel to it. Kind of reminds me of those school anime themes.
The characters really had no development, and absolutely very little depth.

I really had a difficult time trying to enjoy this film due to the switching bodies and unusual story that involved way too much random things happening.

I feel like the only reason why people liked this anime ... so much was because of the pretty artwork, which really didn't do much to help the overall quality of the anime. I can't even begin to fathom the fact that it surpassed Spirited away as the highest grossing anime film in the internationally.

Overall, i think it pretty much sums up Makoto shinkai and his works. Everyday school life and falling in love.

Many say that The Legend of the Galactic Heroes is a far superior work, as it was first and the foremost work based on the author of the novel of the same name. However, I find Tytania's story to be beautiful, and even surpasses its supposed predecessor. The plot revolves around a powerful empire controlled by the family of Tytania, which spreads its hegemony throughout the universe for centuries, using its unequaled military might and affluent economy, only to be thwarted by a nobody, in just one battle- For the first time, Tytania itself is defeated, and the surrounding nations, being oppressed by the powerful ... family, begin to rally themselves against the tyranny of Tytania. The story itself is an opera, an epic fantasy that represents the paragon of war in space.

Although most viewers who have seen this anime, Genocyber, either degrade it as poor quality or average, I would personally say that this anime can be seen as a masterpiece. It tells of a story of a young girl who forcefully is manipulated by science and her life changes forever. She must face her own internal memories, as well as those who could plunge the world into destruction. Eventually, man is too greedy and in the end, the world is nearly destroyed because of his arrogance and his miscalculation of his own intellect, and that he brought Genocyber into the world. This humanoid would virtually ... vanquish everything because of the young girl's misunderstanding of the world's misfortune. The ending is quite confusing and the main characters' fates are ambiguous, and deems a mysterious atmosphere. Despite that, Genocyber is a great anime. Similar to many of the cyberpunk animes, they consider technology's hegemony as prominent and mankind as extremely dilapidated. Otherwise, this great work of art can be seen to be admired by the sci-fi loving audience.
