Redo of Healer is a one-of-a-kind anime that really stands out amongst others in its genre. it is unrivalled against big-name animes such as Demon Slayer, Attack on titan and even Jujutsu Kaisen as its animation and plot are top-tiered. The series was not unafraid to show uncensored scenes of indecent activities and even encourage the purchasing of slaves to use for their own purposes. While watching this show, I felt a sense of gratification as I watched Keyaru seek his revenge against those who wronged him since the beginning of the story. This show deserves nothing less than a 10/10 because of the amount
...
of imagination the author put into creating this masterpiece for humanity to indulge in. I will go into further analysis of why I think Redo of Healer is underrated.
Story: 10/10
The author clearly put a lot of work into creating an original story that features the protagonist seeking out revenge which of course is something that we have never seen before. As the story progresses, the mc rakes in a harem used for sexual activities which is a gigachad move right there. My favourite part of the story that was peak fiction was when the mc resorts to gender-bending and brutally tortures and kills of Blade, who was one of those who wronged him in the beginning.
Sound: 10/10
You can clearly hear the amount of effort the voice actors put on for this show, especially during the scenes when the mc was enjoying his time with them. Other than that, the sound effects used in fighting scenes were standard with nothing more overshadowing them other than that delicious voice acting.
Characters: 10/10
There was nothing really much t say about the characters other than that the characters were all really. nice when they were in birthday suits, and it really got me going. Surprisingly, I was never tempted to touch the joystick during the intense scenes.
Art: 10/10
The art was very good, especially when they captured the details of the most important parts, such as the shadow of the mc's rod on the girl's face, and the lighting in the fireplace scene brought shivers down my spine as I imagined the worst possible outcome during that scene, which it did not happen.
Music: 10/10
The opening and ending were perfectly chosen for this series and fit perfectly well with the theme. One would never know what they were going to watch until they actually skipped the opening and got on with the story, as the synopsis does not specify what kind of anime this is.
Overall I give Redo of Healer a score of 10/10 because everything about it, from the story, sounds, characters, art and music, was above average compared to other anime aired at the time. Although I initially fell victim to this series as I did not know it would get intense or that I didn't read the tags attached as soon as I saw what. was going on, I was forced to watch it because I can not drop an anime series once I watch it.

Suggested watch order following the events in the story:
Ep:4,1,2,7,11,12,5,6,3,8,9,10
Watching it in regular order gives a bad taste and I can see why many drop this series early on. I didn’t know at first until I hit episode 4 and I had to research the proper order and luckily did early on. I’ve seen a handful of anime that have mixed up storytelling unorganized or not. Melancholy of Haruhi Suzimiya was an exception but that was because the story was still executed well, or the Danganronpa series where there was a jump from S1 to S3 with S2 having you to play the game to understand
...
the plot in S3. And even then in S3 of Danganronpa where it was released in 2 different sets of 12 (Future) and 11 (Despair) for a total of 23 episodes, there were many ways to watch the thrust season such as alternating between the two or finishing one set and going on to the other set. Peach Boy Riverside did not have to be like this cause it’s not even suppose to be a mystery but I guess there may have been some sort of intent behind it, but it doesn’t really matter. When I watched it in the proper story order, the series overall for me wasn’t too bad giving it an 8 purely out of enjoyment after it has been a long time since I’ve seen a “decent” fantasy genre asides from jobless reincarnation. One of the main side characters definitely gave me the Rimuru vibes from Reincarnated as a Slime and the character design wasn’t too bad. A decent watch for a casual viewer that just happened to stumble upon it would be the phrase that described my experience watching this.

Another CGDCT anime to cross off my list. I've seen quite a few CGDCT anime and this one was a unique one. First off, we have a character who unfortunately has "bad luck" and this bad luck would get them constantly bombarded with unfortunate events such as falling on the street and miraculously ending up in a river which made no sense at all, getting trampled by animals and constantly losing their belongings. This character kinda reminded me of Momoki Run from A-Channel, due to her airheadedness and that funny voice she has. I found it surprising that her VA has such a vocal range
...
because of her roles in other series where it is a complete 180 to what I heard in this anime. To continue, we have another character who is ROMANTICALLY in love with a construction man cut out and would be like horny or something whenever they pass by a construction site and there would be the cut out of the man holding a sign saying something like do not enter. It was weird. Another character (funniest in my opinion), has a misfortune called poor health, and you guessed it, they would have poor health, but it would range from so many different types of health-related problems such as fatigue from doing simple physical activities like walking, lightheadedness from low oxygen intake and getting fevers at night while sleeping. I found this character funny because there would be random moments where they are walking and all of a sudden they break a bone in their foot or legs and they would collapse randomly while walking to school. My favourite was when they were brushing their teeth in the morning and it is up to your imagination what happened considering how they broke bones while walking. Other characters had misfortunes such as attracting all female creatures, having a bad sense of direction and getting lost when they are literally told to go this path and they just randomly go on the other path as if they completely ignored what the hell they were just told.
Overall, I reviewed this anime, which I rarely do, out of pure enjoyment and found that this was a different one out of the CGDCT animes I've seen. Art, soundtracks and characters were okay, nothing special and there is little story considering this is a slice of life and comedy.

Since I left a review for Charlotte (Jun Maeda’s other work) I will also write a review for Kamisama ni Natta Hi. After watching this anime along with many of other animes in the Fall 2020 Kamisama ni Natta Hi was not as bad it could have ended off with. Many people are infuriated with Maeda’s latest work as it did not live to its expectations but would like to see this from both sides of the coin before I can say whether or not it is a watch it or drop it.
(Spoilers ahead! If you haven’t watched, then don’t read past here)
————————————————————————————————————————
Summary:
In
...
short The Day I Became God is a story about a young girl named Hina who was born with an incurable disease but was cured due to some advanced scientific piece of technology that allowed her to function like a normal person. She meets with the main protagonist and all those associated with him and they go through the antics of the summer fulfilling Hina’s bucket list living as a normal girl before her proclamation that the world will end according to her knowledge. Towards near the middle end, it is found that the end of the world was meant for Hina only and not those around her and she is taken away from a company to have the piece of technology removed (as it was found to be a threat to humanity/too advanced for humans) from her thus returning her to her original state. The story gets depressing from there and the protagonist is forced to accept the reality as Hina can never be returned to her healthy state and the story ends with the 2 of them presumably in love, both supportively and romantically and live the rest of their lives along with their friends and family.
Story: (7/10)
The story was well executed and less rushed towards the end compared to Maeda’s previous work Charlotte, however the element of the rush was still being felt although it did not surprise the viewer too much. The concept and the idea of the story however, did have more thought put into it and is not found to commonly in the drama genre. It could also be a romance but it wasn’t really the main focus in the story as Maeda wanted to focus on Hina herself and her relationship with people around her when her one circumstances changes. It is pretty heartbreaking to see Hina all crippled and disabled but seeing the amount of support she had and the love from Youta, she is able to live her life away from medical support and will see a soewhat normal life. This anime also raises the awareness of people who are physically and mentally ill and shows what the relationships looks like between them and the rest of the world although there are others as well.
Art: (7/10)
There wasn’t anything really phenomenal with the art other then that it suits the current modern style as well and doesn’t feel unique compared to other animes this season. It was just there and it suited the anime for its story.
Sound: (10/10)
The soundtracks once again done by Maeda were really nice to hear and compared to his other works like Angel Beats and Charlotte. Kamisama ni Natta Hi stood it’s ground on quality and was probably the main feature that stood out along side with the story. If you aren’t really into sounds then there isn’t really nothing special but if you rewatch the series (if you ever do) and focus on the soundtracks, it fits really well and gives a nice pleasant and bittersweet feeling when you know the story from the beginning to the end.
Characters: (7/10)
The characters in a sense were all unique and had various personalities which was nice. Although Hina and Youta were the main focus on the story for development, there were also notable side characters that also had an impact to the story. The problem with the side characters in Kamisama ni Natta Hi is that once they are proven relevant to some part of the storyline they are pushed aside and are almost never given a chance on the main screen ever again. One example is Suzuki Hiroto, where he is given some screen time through out the series at the end of the episodes and builds a subplot underneath until the story reaches the climax where Hina’s true self is revealed. He then becomes some new main/side character that assists Youta with Hina’s conflict and then once his job is gone he is never heard from again (for ref. Episode 10). Another example is Izanami Kyouko (Youta’s original love interest), she is seemingly the main heroine at the beginning of the story throwing us off of what the relevance of Hina is for until Kyouko’s problems with her own family are resolved by Youta and Hina. These examples that occurred to these characters and perhaps many others made it so that characters shown in the story were often inconsistent to how relevant they are other then providing moral support for Hina towards the end. You can literally remove some of the characters and the story would have turned out the same, if not, shorter, perhaps into a movie, but the extra plot with the side characters were only there to show what Hina could do) The score is a 7 because of Hina and Youta’s character development and relationship. Other than that the score would have been much lower if not for that.
Enjoyment: (8/10)
Overall, it was enjoyable to watch seeing the events of the story go up and down and what happens in the end of Hina. There really isn’t much to complain about other than the irrelevance of the side characters and the short rush towards the end to speed up the plot and keep it within 12 episodes. Perhaps this isn’t enjoyable to many others but opinions are opinions and a good review is when it tries to argue both sides of the coin with facts rather than shooting it down with opinions. Creators can get discouraged when reading reviews and scores, so stop being so negative as provide constructive positive feedback that shows the ups and downs and provide ideas for areas of support.
Overall: (8/10)
Personally I liked Kamisama ni Natta Hi. It wasn’t so bad that it made me want to drop the anime midway but it is bearable to watch. When comparing it to Jun Maeda’s other works I would say it ranks equally with them. I haven’t seen Clannad yet but apparently it is the best scored out of his works. Although many people will compare this to Charlotte as it was his most recent work, I would say that Maeda had put more thought and effort into Kamisama ni Natta Hi. I would recommend to those who like to watch anime for the enjoyment of it and not to those who like to pick at every detail that goes wrong. It only matters when macroscopic (big) mistakes are made compared to microscopic.

Summary: In short, this anime is one of the few in the fantasy genre that I genuinely enjoyed and everything about it is better than I expected. To reiterate, the story is about an abandoned human girl in the forest and a Golem (guardian of the forest) decides to take her in his care and travels with her to return her to the humans, which are currently in the hiding as they lost the war against the fantastical creatures that live amongst the humans. A similar concept to the movie Ice Age.
Story: 9/10
I give the story a 9/10 as it is very clear to what
...
the objective of the main characters are supposed to do and nothing is hidden from the viewers other than the mysteriousness of the golem. The story is interesting and presents to us a story of what it means to be in a parent-child relationship and teaches valuable lessons of parenthood. Another message I found and that everyone who also saw the anime should know is discrimination. As you know discrimination is very prevalent in today’s society and during this time with the current BLM movements going on, this anime’s plot line shows how humans discriminate to groups who are different to them. In this case it is between humans and the Grotesques (The “monsters” or the creatures in the anime). The humans were portrayed as the antagonists and the Grotesques were portrayed as the protagonists. Ironically our heroine is a human living amongst the Grotesques and they never find out about her identity as the Golem is protecting her while trying to return her to the humans. Humans were the first to provoke the Grotesques which caused a war between the 2 species and ultimately with the humans running away as the Grotesques were stronger physically. This anime is comical in how it represents humans as the bad guys as that is what is actually happening in the real world.
Art: 8/10
I found the art to be phenomenal and the mood it set the anime gave it a fantasy feeling which is how I felt when watching the series. If you love fantasy, I suggest putting this anime on your to watch list.
Sounds: 8/10
The sound tracks throughout the anime were pretty normal as usual but some like the opening soundtrack and the ending gave the anime its melancholy feeling and we know that because of how the story goes (if you have watched it). Listening to the opening gives you the feeling of sadness and when you remember the storyline you will realize how it will all end as it is supposed to be tragic.
Characters: 8/10
The characters in the story stayed true to their personality traits given by the author. The Golem, who played a crucial role in the story is given the robot act while Somali is given the young curious girl role who would explore every inch of an environment presented to her. The development between the 2 characters throughout the series is clearly shown and their relationships with other side characters they encounter through their journey. The Golem, (although still monotone) realizes he can have emotions too as evident with his actions he does to protect Somali. Somali on the other hand continues to build her relationship with the Golem (in a father-daughter sort of way) and helps the Golem realize what it means to be a living being besides following what the orders the Golem was made to do. Side characters were also fairly interesting and added spice to the plot which I enjoyed. The only annoying character I found was Uzoi as she seemed a little too crazy (yaandere) for Haitora.
Enjoyment: 9/10
Overall I enjoyed the anime as the messages the author conveys to us is clear, the lessons the anime teaches through the characters interactions with one other and of how wholesome it is. Although I didn’t cry because of the emotional impact the anime had, it did hit me in the heart which isn’t common for me as I tend to be neutral to anything I see. If it is able to hit me hard, then that means the anime did a good job.
Overall: 8/10
I gave this a solid 8 although I was leaning close to a 9 when I rated it, but I gave it an 8 because it wasn’t too crazily good but not at all bad. I hope the series receives a season 2 however I find that won’t be for a while as the first season pretty much covers the amount of source manga that’s been released. So far there is only 6 volumes released and the 1st season covered pretty much all of that, so if you want a season 2 it won’t be for a while as the author for the manga series is still creating the story. What I do know is that the ending will be tragic and will have a bittersweet ending to it based on how it is currently going with the story. I totally recommend for everyone to give this anime a shot and I understand that some will find it boring and others interesting.

Summary: In short, Ashita Sekai ga Owaru toshitemo or The Relative Worlds (English title) is about a group of high school aged teens who try to solve their world problem (an epidemic of unexplainable deaths) by interactions with their other worldly counterparts.
**Skip to THINGS TO IMPROVE ON below if you don’t want to read**
Story: 7/10
The story itself is interesting and the concepts are very well thought out considering most sci-fi stories can be confusing to understand. One thing I liked was the idea of multiple worlds or parallel worlds and the thought of them actually existing as depicted in the anime made me think
...
it could be real one day. The main characters counterparts in the other world reach out to the characters in our perspective of the normal world and work together to solve what is going on between the relationship of the 2 worlds. The story had a lot of potential however, there were many things it needed to change in order for the movie to properly execute this complex storyline. *Will explain later
Art: 7/10
The art is not all that mind blowing as most anime’s tend to have decent art design, however, in this movie the anime is done in 3D or CG whatever it is called and the movement and flow of characters is a bit awkward to watch at times especially in regular movement like walking and swinging their arms. The animation style wasn’t too bad if you got used to it but for some it can be an annoying pet peeve to see as we are all used to the normal animation we see in the majority of anime we watch. Personally, I have seen anime’s with this kind of style and some mix it with the regular style so I did not have any problems watching the movie. The art for the character designs matched cleanly with the background and the background art in itself was well done considering for the different animation style.
Sound: 7/10
The soundtracks used in the movies weren’t all too special but they matched nicely with the scenes and if you can selectively hear them, it is actually not bad
considering the scenes they are used in and the type of music artists they hired.
Sound effects in my opinion were well done, the fighting sound effects, explosions, futuristic sounds (teleporting) were all nice to hear and goes well with the genre of sci-fi.
Character: 7/10
The characters were plain but they were all likeable to a certain extent. You could not really put hate on any characters as they had no purpose in the story other than to support the main cause and all the main characters were the protagonists, there were no antagonists in the cast of main characters. It was more of a character vs self (beginning) and character vs society (middle to end). Characters I liked were pretty much all of them, even the humanoids (Mika and Rika) as they had some pretty interesting development but overall I would say I would feel neutral due to events that happened in the movie.
Enjoyment: 7/10
I did enjoy the movie as the concepts of the story in the sci-fi genre were indeed interesting to me (as a fan of sci-fi). The reasons why I would give it a 7 will be stated in things to improve on.
Overall: 7/10
This anime deserves a solid 7 (I might be a bit generous but it is different for everyone) as the story concepts were interesting and everything else mentioned was a 7. My favourite character would probably be Mika as it was pretty cool in fights and how it protected the main characters. (Notice I used “it”). Hope I don’t get tagged for violating AI rights lmao.
Things for the anime to work on:
Time for the cons, heheh, this is probably what you were here to read anyways for those who watched the movie already or for those who hadn’t watched the movie and came to the review section first to see if it is any good to watch. Fear not, the movie is watchable on the behalf of my witnessing of the movie. You may be wondering why this movie gotten such low ratings and I am here to give a brief review of what I think were the problems.
Story:
The story had many inconsistencies and missing details that evidently led to many plot holes leaving the watcher to have thoughts and questions after the movie has ended. Movies should not leave watchers having questions circulating in their heads and should leave a nice concise ending or an intended open ending which in this case it was really not. If you are a person who gets easily lost from missing details and unexplained events I would suggest you to not watch it, but if you want to for the sake of the story and ideas from it, I suggest you to give it a chance and watch. As I gave it a solid 7, it doesn’t mean I thought it was super good but it was based off how I enjoyed it. With the story having a lot of missing details, it ultimately led to why this anime was rated pretty low. I will not provide examples as to not spoil the story for those that haven’t seen it already.
Characters and Plot:
Really the only thing that bothered me was how this anime was marked as romance when there literally was little to no romance in the movie. Sure the male protagonist and the main heroine have feelings for each other due to knowing each other for a long time but it provides little relevancy to the storyline and plot. The plot as I mentioned previously has a lot of missing details and inconsistencies that made the characters do the actions they did that do not align properly with the “specific” goal the storyline was aiming at. If you watched it, you will know what I mean. (The fate of Izumi Kotori). The humanoid girls which she created got more development and possibly screen time than Kotori herself which really is a problem when you got side characters (ironically in this one was created by the main character herself) overshadowing and taking over the main story line. This problem in trying to incorporate romance into this sci-fi world made it so that there would be inconsistencies in the story and leading towards how badly rated it got.

Overall this anime is very very grim as it is supposed to be. A warning to users before watching this, if you aren’t used to gore then don’t watch this please. I have watched many movies/shows with tons of gore and it still unsettles me when I watch something so gory like this anime. Overall the story is very short, group of friends perform ritual, teleports to spirit world and experience all kinds of horror and ultimately death. *Spoiler Alert* only 2 of the group makes it out. The characters were not very developed as it had to fit the short plot line but the
...
sound was good as they were detailed and made it very clear to what was happening in those censored scenes. Not a very good anime to enjoy based off a game in my opinion but i do applaud it for keeping true to the horror theme. It is unfortunate to what happens in the end overall as the ending is dark and of course not everyone makes it but hey the story did its job and carried out what needed to be carried out. A good horror series to see is Another which has a solid story line, characters and keeps it theme under horror. Corpse Party can be considered as a downgraded short version of Another but the gore I feel is more intense but the story is not as good. In Another, you still get to feel the same exhilarating feel of a horror plot line and mystery but the gore is a bit gentler and not as horrific as Corpse Party. Corpse Party really focuses on sound effects which makes it more unsettling to watch when viewing censored scenes. You could also say Corpse Party was a bit more messed up than other horror series as it involves elementary school children doing the scaring and not the usual mid-teens to adults age group.

Despite being a new anime released for the Winter 2020, In/Spectre is an anime that provides a lot of potential in the long run when more people decide to watch it and for future seasons to come from it. While the anime still is ways away from catching up to the source content which in this case is the manga, In/Spectre provides a lot of room for improvement to make it one of the good newly released anime’s of the year. The way I see it personally for improvement is if they release a second season as the first season felt very short with just
...
two arcs (one minor and one major arc). In the first 3 of 4 episodes they introduced the characters and the mystery and analytical part of the plot within the first arc. The characters are all enjoyable and their interactions with the supernatural and other characters are fairly relevant to the story overall. The MC (Iwanaga) is probably one of the more unique characters that we have seen in a while being that she is the mediator between the supernatural and the human world. The other characters in the plot are significant as well and provide great subplot with the MC. After the introduction of what the anime is all about in the first couple episodes it then proceeds onto its first major arc that takes up the rest of the anime’s airtime spanning from episodes 5-12 I believe. The antagonist who was once with the protagonists starts to wreak havoc in the city and it’s up to the MC and the crew to solve the mystery which is fairly lengthy. After a series of events and dialogue especially, the antagonist is defeated but is still on the run which sets up for their future encounters with the MC and also sets up for potential seasons to come for the anime as their is still a lot of source content to use.
Negatives:
First let’s talk about the criticism that this anime faced and from my own perspective of how things could have improved for the anime. The biggest problem with the anime people reviewed was of how dialogue heavy it was and how short the season was for the length of the plot given. While the story had some fighting scenes (mainly from Kuro due to his immortality powers), the story had many heavy dialogues parts that could take up to half or an entire episode which most people don’t enjoy. As it is a mystery genre, it is expected that there is a lot of dialogue as there is a lot of analyzing and logical thinking that helps the storyline move on in solving a mystery. Although it is lengthy at times, the dialogue is there to help the audience what is going on in the anime world and I personally enjoyed hearing and reading all of the plot points that the dialogue had to offer. Some people might not like reading and listening to boring plot dialogue but hey that’s not for everyone and some like to take it in quick or long. To me, having the patience for the plot to roll out can sometimes pay out in the end and make the story enjoyable. In this case I was able to withstand the amount of dialogue and in the end I enjoyed In/Spectre. As for the shortness of the season, myself and many other people’s reviews I have read say that the cour of the season was fairly short for the lengthy plot it provided. I somewhat agree to a certain extent and that it could have at least included one more arc to further empathize on the mystery genre of the story. Having one minor and major arc didn’t really have much of an impact to how this mystery could have played out and could have included at least one more major arc in the form of an OVA or movie if they wished to keep the season 12 episodes long. Overall, the anime really only had these problems and a few inconsistencies here and there involving the 2 year time skip at the beginning but I’ll explain that in a bit.
Positives:
Yes, the anime was great for me overall and I would give it a mid 7/10 or a solid 8. The characters were all very likeable with the exception of the MC love interest being very bland but very mysterious as he had his own problems. One thing I really liked was the supernatural elements of the story and the concept of how the MC was the “god” that mediated the interactions of the supernatural (spirits/youkai, ghosts, spectres, etc.) as well as the interactions of the supernatural and the humans. This is something you don’t see very often as many supernatural entities in other anime are usually depicted as the antagonist or evil entities to the MC. The mystery portion of the anime was also introduced fairly well with the first minor arc and got me hooked into it after only seeing the first episode. The art and soundtracks were very nice and I loved the ad transitioning jingles where it made provided some hype when watching although it can be comparable to other anime’s like KonoSuba. The MC having one eye and one leg is also fairly neat as we don’t see many characters with handicaps that disable them from taking part in significant events of the plot. (Dororo is a good example and I recommend to watch it.) In the end, it came down to enjoyment which is the most important thing to have when watching anime and I enjoyed In/Spectre compared to other anime that I have seen in the past. You should really look on how you enjoyed it compared to other anime that you think was worse.
Recommendations:
I would recommend this anime to experienced watchers as it involves a lot of heavy dialogue and commitment in order to understand what the anime is trying to convey. If you are like mystery genres, In/Spectre is not to bad but for newcomers I would recommend Hyouka as it easier to understand the mystery component due to its easy logic it uses and humour in it. In/Spectre also provides an light taste in the supernatural genre so if you want to get into watching supernatural genre anime, this one is a good watch although other ones like Another is a great supernatural mystery however, it is a bit gory but if you can handle it, by all means go watch it. One more thing to note is the 2 year time skip after the introduction of the characters in episode 1. It wasn’t made obvious that it happened although there was a time card shown, it was made only clear after the introduction of Saki (Kuro’s Ex) and how the MC specifically mentioned how she was solving these mysteries with Kuro for 2 years. There is a bit of inconsistency here as it was not made obvious, however it can be said it was cleared up in the heavy dialogue the story had.

*This review is for those who wonder why this anime is rated low
Like me, everyone has watched anime and some can be critique as better than others or worse than others but I think those people who criticize and label every anime to the point where it is seen as downright garbage or surprisingly amazing are hypocritical. I understand that this may not be relevant but I read the reviews for this anime and was shocked to see how poor it was rated compared to other anime that are also low rated. Personally, I enjoyed Charlotte although there are some justified points other reviewers make

that pinpoint weaknesses in the anime and I myself 100% agree, but some of the comments in reviews made it to the point where everything was nitpicked at and made it really uncomfortable for me to how I could rate the anime. Of course there will be haters and supporters and I respect their passion in anime but I want to share the message of writing reasonable and respectful reviews so that future watchers can understand and perhaps be given the chance to watch the anime. People who criticize at every little thing an anime does wrong overall makes it for future viewers to see that as labeling the anime bad and not watching it at all which I believe is totally wrong since the cliched phrase is never judge a book by its cover, in this case it’s reviewers of anime. I myself used to despise anime as a waste of time and unreasonable but after being introduced to it by friends of course because friends are awesome, I have come to appreciate anime that is shared through us online and that it is accessible for everyone to enjoy. Here’s what I think the purpose of anime should be.
Anime is for enjoyment purposes and as a watcher myself I am not really an into the details person of how an anime is good or bad based on character development, story and etc, although I agree that they do play important roles in making an anime enjoyable. I personally disagree with others that criticize everything that is wrong with an anime because that’s what humans like to do, exploit/pinpoint mistakes and making seem like it’s 10 times worse then it actually is rather than focusing on the positive. We tend to point fingers and analyze what is wrong with it which is okay because that’s for fixing future mistakes and is for leaning purposes but we tend to exaggerate and put our all into it when something or someone is doing a mistake. We don’t like to look at what’s under the picture and actually put some thought into before we express our opinions (think before you speak) another cliched statement seen often. I understand that reviews are our opinions and that is what plays an important role to how something can be rated so good or rated so bad but there are some cases where it’s either all bad or all good which really doesn’t balance well to how something is. I personally dislike how things have to be ranked in first, second or third but it is to some extent a tool to how we rate things as good or bad. Of course there will be some anime that are downright terrible where even a newcomer can see the mistakes, but if you are a person who really likes to dissect an anime to see how well put together it is and criticizing it really makes it hard for newbies to understand anime. Which is why people who view anime are labeled as the lower group (weebs although I know this term is not meant for this) but anime watchers are labeled by the general population and are sometimes frowned upon. This may be due to outsiders viewing the extreme people who are into anime very seriously but there are some who are completely normal and are actually very considerate. I am a part of the general audience meaning we watch for entertainment and not for the sake of rating how good it is, although we make comments saying we like or dislike it which is okay but not to the point where we either look to only the negatives or the positives. I want to share the message of letting other reviewers know to be more considerate when writing your opinions as it can impact others who are watching or brand new to the show and how they view it after. It’s basically saying how would you feel if you felt yourself an anime was so good but when you see other people’s reaction saying only the negatives it makes you feel down or changes your own opinion about it. Another example is that you are proud of your own work but when it’s time to show it everyone looks at it with disgust saying only the negatives. It is the same concept here that applies to reviews towards anime like these. It is good to put some relative feedback to a piece of work, but not to the extent where it can ruin the enjoyment for others which is how I felt after I watched this anime Charlotte.
*(Warning Spoilers here!)*
Now time for the review of the anime and advice to new watchers (by the way this is my first review of an anime since I felt the need to get the word out).
Overall Charlotte was pretty well done, I personally enjoyed the anime and the concept it attempts to bring out. The romance that’s added to the anime didn’t really have to be necessary as it was very short and implied fairly late in the season. The main character Yu was very impactful to the show and his contributions as a main character was enough so that it didn’t make him look like a side character. The other characters were also key components to the story and I felt like they had enough screen time for each to show how they significantly impact the plot. The back stories and people who had to die were very impacting to the story such as Yu’s little sister or Kumagami (always wetman) deaths which were tear jerkers. Although, it is sci-fi/supernatural genre it may be a little hard for everyone to understand but myself as a sci-fi lover enjoyed watching this anime *note: ENJOYED*. The art in the opening and endings were really well done but the songs are a bit plain to listen but most people skip them anyways. The story and characters like I said were decent compared to other anime’s although I know it’s the same kind of personalities you would see in the main characters for almost every anime you’ve seen so far but that’s irrelevant if you like to watch anime for the sake of entertainment. I’m no professional when it comes to stuff like this but from an outside perspective as a commoner it can say was alright enough for me to enjoy. Things that need to be improved were the amount of episodes that could have been added due to how compressed the story was. The first 4 episodes were introducing how the powers worked and what could be done with them (kind of like a slice of life: different story for every episode) and the background story was kinda camouflaged (Unknown) until the later episodes past episode 6. The story from there gradually begins to develop although it was very fast paced and ended off within a couple of episodes. It would have been better if there were a couple of extra episodes like OVAs to make the story more complete and easier to understand for any anime watchers who are new. It did make sense how they had to rush episode 13 because there was no way in hell they would stretch a couple extra episodes of Yu plundering every individual on Earth. Episodes 11-12 could have been elaborated more and could have actually add on to the suspense of the story which could overall improve the anime’s end which was not well received by many but I was satisfied myself after I finished. Usually I would get the feeling of what would happen next and is there more but after seeing the ending to Charlotte it was conclusive and did not make any necessary additions that would have incomplete endings. One more thing to point out was the fact that many reviewers thought how Yu’s sister was the brought back to life so soon after her death in Episode 6 (By the way a real tear jerker) was irrational. It was made like that due to how the story was so compressed in the later half and than rushed at the end. Normally a MC who dies would be for-shadowed to become back to life but that would normally take a tremendous amount of time of plot and drama which is a waste of time in this 13 episode anime. They just wanted it short and to the point while keeping it relevant for the plot. Overall this concludes my review of Charlotte, these are my opinions and they should not be taken to account to how you enjoyed the anime.
For any new watchers, this anime is indeed safe/good to watch disregarding the amount of negative feedback it receives. You can decide that later by yourself to how you think the anime was. Try not to be discouraged by other people’s opinions including this review to how you enjoyed the anime. This is what I personally think and I rate anime based on how it makes me feel, so if it makes me sleep, it’s boring and if I’m pulling off all nighters just to finish or continue watching an anime, it’s because I enjoy it due to whatever reason that may be (story, characters, OST etc.)
