I never drop a series (anime or tv), movie, book or manga, even if it sucks. I try to watch or read it till the end. Perhaps it's the hope that maybe, just maybe, it'll get better. Sometimes, it does get better. Sometimes it doesn't. I held the same hope for Hamatora.
Story: 3/10
The story revolves around "Minimum" or "minor miracle"—special hereditary powers discovered only in an extremely limited number of humans. Those who possess such powers are known as "Minimum Holders."
Could've been a lot more, but sadly failed. One of the worst villains too.
Art: 7/10
At first, it was really good. I love the colourful
...
effect when Minimum Holders use their ability and the combination of colours is also good-it seems fresh.
In some episodes, especially in ending ones, the art quality dropped a bit. There wasn't a lot of detail, it looked rushed, faces looked kinda contorted, as if not enough effort was put into it and that's one of the things that really stings me.
That happened in only a few episodes, so a 7 it is.
Sound: 6/10
The sound was okay, in some scenes it really fit in, sometimes I didn't even notice it. I can remember a few times the soundtrack was completely off too, but luckily, that was rare. The overall soundtrack isn't extraordinary. The OP and ED were fine too. The OP is very good, Yuuki Ozaki's voice is perfect for the song. He also sang the OP for Zankyou no Terror, and as I saw he also did the one for Hamatora, I was excited. The song is energetic and kinda reminds of Nice-kun. ED wasn't bad either, but I prefer ending songs to be paced slower.
Character: 5/10
The characters. Pfffff. Could've been so much more, but it's like the ones in charge of this anime didn't bother. In a few eps, we are told a bit about some of the characters stories and background, but mainly, it's just shady details. The only ones I do remember had a proper story are Honey and Three, and we found out a bit about Ratio and Birthday too (not very in-depth though). The character we don't know anything about, except she likes food, is Hajime. That's it. She also used her minimum for maybe 2, 3 times in the whole season? A waste.
A point has to be made about the villain, Moral too. He is revealed as a villain in the first or second (I don't really remember) episode. At the beginning, basically. I don't like him. He is just too dramatic. His voice is so annoying and the stuff that comes out of his mouth.. The dialogue was just terrible. At some point, I wouldn't be surprised at all if I learnt a third grader wrote it.
Enjoyment: 3/10
As said, the first few eps are good, then the quality drops. Sometimes, just as the story starts moving, something completely irrelevant comes in. Not even a plot twist, it's just an irrelevant occurrence.
Sometimes in anime, the beginning episodes do have these random things to set up the atmosphere, but it should not happen in the middle of the anime as it only disturbs the pace.
Overall: 5/10
And perhaps even a five is to generous? The beginning was promising, but the anime definitely disappointed me and when I saw a friend was watching it, I told him he should read some of the reviews here and leave it be. There are plenty better series that don't disappoint, go watch those instead and leave this one be.
