Both have a cast of colorful characters. The main characters do what they want, whenever they want. Both feature high octane and exciting action, with moves that basically cause explosions every time they make contact. Both have sidekicks, who they originally didnt want, but learned to love. Enemies also have a tendency to have interesting back stories, but really long monologues as well

...then you might like God Eater add

Both are set in the future, with a outside force going against the MC and his organization. In Guilty Crown its Funeral Parlor and God Eater it is well... the god eaters. Both MCs have generic hairstyles and wield a big-ass sword obviously compensating for something.

Based off the first episode, the settings of the two seem pretty similar. Both focus on students honing their skills at a school/academy so one day they can defend life against the forces of evil. Both also focus on working well with partners. In Soul Eater it is a weapon/meister relationship and in Absolute Duo it is well... Duos. Both have to work together throughout their school years so in the end, they can be the best partners as they can be

Although not entirely similar, some elements are. Both Shibi and Yoshi are perverts, perverted idiots at that, and are willing to do anything to look under a girl's skirt. However, both have a sense right and wrong and moral judgement and are willing to save their friend(s). Also Shibi and Yoshi always get beat up by girls due to their infamous perverted reputation and both their friends often get them into trouble through "persuasion"
