Out of all Bleach movies, this is my favourite one.
Here is the brief summary-Toshiro Hitsugaya goes rogue in order to stop a thief who stole a powerful weapon belonging to the Soul King's family. The Soul Society, afraid of repeating Aizen scenario, declares him a criminal and it's up to Ichigo and his friends to prove Toshiro's innocence, all while the mysterious person from Toshiro's past returns with an ultetior motive...
To tell you the truth, I think the premise was quite interesting. I know that since this movie came out before the final arc, the main story may not make much sense according to the
...
lore we got, but hey, this is movie we are talking about-they don't have to be strictly bound by canon. The fight scenes are cool, the main villain was interesting and felt like a realistic character rather than just the plot device to beat and I love the soundtrack.
If there is one thing I don't like much about this movie, is the message. Yeah, I know that in Japan, conformity and following orders is considered very important and that the higher ups can do whatever they want with little impunity, but still...the idea that the main villain was executed just because he happened to have the same sword as Toshiro and when he comes back to get revenge, the good guys don't care much about this injustice and just decide to kill him again....I know that Soul Society is quite authoritarian but still, surely someone should have at least said something about how messed up the law is.
Other than that, I think this movie is good. If you are fan of Bleach, or if you wouldn't mind watching a movie featuring dragons and monsters, DiamondDust Rebellion is right for you.
