Mayo Chiki!

Two harem rom-coms in which the male protagonist, through a fateful encounter surrounded by peculiar circumstances, embarks on a journey of sorts in which he comes to notice the various girls with quirky personalities around him. Additionally, he is slapped with a certain odd disability that is a double-edged sword; while working through it creates wonderful opportunities with said girls, it also manages to get in the way of things. But that's not all. Sharing the same director, it comes as no surprise that the shows' style of approach towards the genre has a similar feel to them. The plot in each series takes full advantage of the possibilities presented by MC's "disease" - expect hilarious setups, over-the-top reactions and zany situations with plenty of slapstick - the focus on their familiar brand of light-hearted comedy to drive the interactions between characters is the name of the game here. The romance isn't unfulfilling either; the shows' ability to insert heartfelt moments throughout the course of the episodes, as the protagonist's relationships with the cast of his harem are explored, don't go unnoticed. Nyan Koi! is filled with tons of cat-themed mischief, while Mayo Chiki! has that touch of ecchi flavour. Why not give the other a try? After all, with one of my all-time favourite seiyuu, the ultra-talented, super cute-sounding Yuka Iguchi at the helm in both anime, what more could you ask for?

Need another silly-but-fun harem style series to sate your hunger for more awkward ecchi-induced laughing fits? Of course you do, that's why you're on one of these anime's pages. Do you like cute, seemingly innocent girls? The same ones that end up in the most "hen" situations possible thanks to their sneaky scheming? Do you enjoy watching your wimpy harem protagonist MC being sexually harassed by said girls into submission while you laugh at his expense? The legendary Kiss x Sis has got you covered. Oh, and Kono Naka ni Hitori, Imouto ga Iru! ain't bad either (it also lives up to its title's name *hint*) - and look, there's even Ako-nee and Mikazuki to greet you there too!

Yep, I went there. "KISS ME!..." "KISS! KISS! KISS!..." As if their OPs weren't begging to bring this to your attention enough. Despite having varying degrees of ecchi (can't believe I just used that term), both shows have employed the same type of comedic setup at some point. While Sakura Trick does rely on its strong moe humour, it also sometimes allows the sheer awkward-ness of what the characters are doing (possibly KISSING, maybe) to take over - precisely what Kiss x Sis does extraordinarily well. Wild, excessive fantasising? Teasing and fawning? Stupid stuff that's blown out of proportion? They aim to please. Need another set-up for jokes and suspense? Throw in a character that's suspecting of the unfolding situation that sounds uncannily like Asami Imai...!? Most of all, both series pretty much embrace their "controversial" subject of choice and run with its silliness - till you can't help but laugh in the face of it. Worth a try if you can stomach certain themes (Kiss x Sis's TV ver. is relatively tamer than its OVA).

Ever wanted to enjoy the same moe blob antics but with a different feel? For fans that want to see their implied yuri relationships go one step further, while getting a nosebleed on top of aggravating their previously diagnosed diabetic condition thanks to all the moe they received from Kiniro Mosaic, or Sakura Trick fans who need a reprieve from all that "action", but still want their daily dose of imouto-seque fawning between British Yuu and her somewhat ditzy best friend, with an extra dash of over-the-top foreign moe kinpatsu humour from Karen - both series provide a decent alternative to those craving for more of "cute girls doing cute things". I guess I'll also mention that they're both 4-koma adaptions too. As such they were good with their jokes. In fact, if you pay attention to them, Alice and Yuu actually share more in common in their respective shows than you might think - and no it's not because they kind resemble each other in terms of looks (I personally don't think they do, anyway)!

Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai Next

If you enjoyed Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai Next's style of harem storytelling, Mayo Chiki's might appeal to you. I feel that both of them have managed to utilise the right mixture of drama and their respective brand of exceptional, well-timed comedy to the bring out their respective harem's full potential. There is a nice seinen feel to some of the conflicts in each. The romance in both is also built up in a more mature fashion compared to certain other harems, in a sense - the attraction feels more genuine, and girls aren't just throwing themselves onto the MC. Other features you might find enjoyable between both: high quality character designs/art, characters with a twisted sense of perverted humour (that's actually funny!), Yuka Iguchi going absolutely batshit insane in her voice acting, as well as adorable imouto action (both done by KANA HANAZAWA no less, of course it had to be her) and OP/EDs performed by the harem cast. Also, something *else* is strikingly similar... However, there is one significant difference between them. Watch to find out! (Moreso from Haganai -> Mayo Chiki than vice versa)

Nisekoi

If you're fan of Karen's antics like a *few* people I've seen, Nisekoi has her VA, Nao Touyama, perform a similar role in an almost identical voice, as well as a few new takes throughout the series. Cutesy Karen, Tsundere Karen, Sassy Karen, English-speaking Karen - all showcased in Chitoge, who is a main character, meaning more opportunities for her to shine. While not having exactly the same kind of humour as Kiniro Mosaic overall, Nisekoi's humour definitely has its moments. There are also little chibi segments of her in Nisekoi that wouldn't look too out of place in Kiniro Mosaic. Sometimes it feels like the Nisekoi producers uncannily knew exactly what they were doing with her character based on her previous performances... Conversely, Chitoge fans could check out how she possibly got that role. She's hilarious in Kiniro Mosaic. Additionally, some tsundere bits from Nisekoi aren't too different from Ayaya's antics.
