のぶなが の しのび (Nobunaga No Shinobi) is a great way to learn about the 14th century (Sengoku period) feudal Japan 🗾 around one of the greatest Daimyo of that time, おだ のぶなが (Oda Nobunaga).
It only has three incomplete seasons, which is super disappointing.
It has great comedy and such details of historical characters and events that Japanese History majors will find hard to remember during exams.
The main character is a little shinobi (actually kunoichi) called Chidori from Iga village (yes, same as Ninja Hattori). She is super cute and devoted to her Samurai Master Nobunaga. Five years ago, Nobunaga once saved a little orphan kid drowning

in the water and told her that he wants to unite Japan and end the hard time of war. As that kid lost her parents in war, she decided to serve him (as a bodyguard?) as a shinobi after she is more skilled. These flashback events are from episode 0, before season 1, which is, in my opinion, the funniest episode so far and is a must-watch.
Another thing I really liked is the Naruto references. First of all the MC's name itself is Chidori. Again she was continuously requested to show Kage Bushin no Jutsu and Kuchiyose no Jutsu in the first season.
I won't tell more.
The series made me doubt my morality. When Nobunaga fought his legal wife's clan and his wife Ouhime supported him, I was ok with it. Obviously, Nobunaga won. But when the same thing happened to his sister Oichi, I literally was in tears. The series showed Nobunaga's younger sister's wedding (the things mentioned in the anime were : she was married to a divorced man and the marriage was solely for forming an alliance). After only a few years, the alliance broke down for a silly reason (historically, they could have saved the alliance) and Oichi's husband wanted to divorce her before the war (they don't have any sons). But being the সতী সাবিত্রী বউ, Oichi decided to stay by her husband's side, which decision was surprising for both sides.
[I was in tears and decided not to marry off my sister or daughter just to form an alliance with my enemy only to remember that I have none of those]
The series ended with the temporary defeat of Nobunaga by his brother-in-law's ঐক্যজোট with different powerful people.
The anime was so freaking incomplete that I want to hire some low-paid animators myself and make the rest of it.
If you are interested in Japanese history, this series is a must watch.
SPOILER [From History Books] :
Oichi's husband ultimately died in war and she had to join Oda clan (her brother's clan) again with her three daughters. She was then married to a samurai from Oda clan. She and her daughters were caught up in a war where her second husband died. Oichi decided to die with her husband and her daughters were captured by the invader. The eldest became the concubine of that guy. All three of them were prominent figures of 15th century Japanese political history.
About Nobunaga, I don't care. Why didn't Oichi come back?😭
