Story 8/10
+ comedy, medieval time period, pirate, samurai inspired, nice balance between easy-going start and steadily increase of drama to the culmination at the end
- the ending idea and the whole idea behind what you could call 'fate' was a bit too much out-there, even though I'm not adversive to the theological idea behind it.
Art 11/10
+ oustanding, definitely the best I've yet seen. ever., the fluidity of the movements, the hair, expressions and even the mouth during the voice acting are absolutely stunning. The detail into the backgrounds as well, they're all little art works.
- Nothing to add, it should deserve an 11
...
as this completely blew me away. You know what, I'm actually going to do just that and add it to my overall score at the end.
Sound 10/10
+ really well-timed voice acting, befitting every situation and incredibly versatile at moment. I also loved the chaos moments when all characters were just talking over each other - add a bonus os realism and absurdity there. Opening theme is on repeat for the next few weeks for sure and gets re-used in the soundtracks here and there. Ending theme is also great, though I didn't get to listen to it too much due to me needing to go to that next episode faster.
- Again, nothing. Superb.
Enjoyment 9/10
+ The comedy is incredibly well-timed and never over done and even though I didn't particularily liked the fantastical turn of events towards the end, I'd still recommend this anime to. I dunno. Everyone., simply because the art is just so breathtakingly beautiful it would be a sin to skip on.
Overall score of 9.6, I'm going to keep it short and simple: it has pirates, is samurai-inspired, is funny and gradually culminates to more drama and fantasy. What's not to like? Every one wil ldefinitely find something in there they like. And it would just be too much of a pity to skip on this stunning piece of art. I am absolutely mesmerised and jealous of every character's hair in this one. Okay, since I'm not actually making it short at this rate: just watch it! It's absolutely stun-ning to look at. A treat for your eyes, if you will. Ok, ok. That's it. The end.

Story 7/10
+ epidemic, vampire, race, survival of the fittest, horror, thriller, started off really strong with a good rhythm and strong storytelling: awesome contrasting styles in the story itself (in addition to beautiful contracts in art and characters), supporting each other and heightening the experience, having quirky yet baffling details like a fluid timeline and playing with flash-backs without letting the viewer know this until a certain point, keeping you on edge constantly. The only reason this became a 7 score are these early moments where my hair literally stood on end, no cheap jump-scares and still expertly exciting. The more I think about it,
...
the more details I notice which makes the storytelling here a true masterpiece because as much as has been put into it, it' doesn't go into overload or restrict anything to the slightest, every little thing works together. Like clockwork.
- falls a bit flat in the second half, not very original altogether, impact of the earlier episodes declines greatly as the story progresses.
Art 8/10
+ dark style, perhaps a bit crude but fits perfect with the edgy genre, nice contrast with some moe/lolita styles, especially the first few episodes are a-ma-zing when we see the vampires come to action, easily identifiable vampires (to the viewers only, not the characters themselves),
- needs a bit getting used to, doesn't always seem coherent as some have tiny eyes and then another has huge sparkly eyes, declines in quality as the series progresses.
Sound 9/10
+ superb soundtrack, silences in the perfect spots as well, and at least the OST doesn't decline as the story progresses and remains absolutely beautiful.
- in the second half of the series perhaps a bit overused 'tension' songs that didn't really fit well with what was actually happening in the story; the story or characters weren't really as nerve-wrecking as they were before and it felt like the songs were put in there in an attempt to nonetheless make them exiting.
Character 8/10
+ Characters building is quite extensive and for a bit cast if you look at the overall picture of the entire series, which is quite refreshing. Psychological implications and effects are a very strong point which made the mediocre story stand out - suddenly it made a general story you've seen several times worked out alive and ... realistic if that makes sense?
- As more characters were explored, it happened at the cost of other characters which is a great shame.
Enjoyment 7/10
+ the first half is an absolute gem and might've gotten 10/10 on its own. It's hard to make a horror story exciting without cheap tactics, and Shiki executes it to absolute perfection balancing the crude drawing style with sudden fluid animations, using the visual and audible aspects to complement each other wonderfully and heighten the experience altogether.
- The second half is nice for those who want a story with a conclusive ending, taking the close-proximity view of the characters and actions from the first half to a more elevated level at a further distance to also explore other characters and the culmination of actions. Perhaps that might've been best in between all the chaos, but I found it to be a true shame as it took away all impact the first half had dedicated so much time and effort into making it so beautifully dark.
Overall score of 8 which is entirely due to the strong impression it left at the beginning. The score for the first half would have an overall of 10/10, just to show how disappointing the second half was. My hair literally stood on end and my heart beat like crazy. If it had stopped half-way, I would probably not even be able to sleep at all. But, as a whole, not a waste of time, I'm glad I finished it.

Story 10/10
+ isekai, rivalry between two female protagonists, comedy, fantasy but quite realistically and down-to eart, fairies, magic, almost reverse harem if you include fluffy spirits (well the protagonist is a fluffy cat herself so that counts right?), light hearted, cute, well-thought through and it all fits pretty well together. Even though there are only 3 volumes out, you can already tell there's layering going on into the story and we're only seeing the tip of the iceberg for now. Lots of gray zones between the good-evil division as well which I'm looking forward to. The rhytm and pace of the progression is also on
...
point, never wanting it to go faster nor slower.
- Only 3 volumes out, my impatient self can't handle this very well, though luckily no big cliffhangers so the authors does play it pretty clean and nicely for her readers.
Art 10/10
+ Stunning really, the amount of attention all the animals get are quite the eye-opener as well.
- Slightly bigger eyes than otherwise, but nothing unbearable or even slightly annoying, besides, it adds to the comedy value so not really a negative point.
Character 10/10
+ The characters are well-thought through and I'm having the most hopes for the second female lead in this story, I'm already feeling gray zones between the 'good' and 'evil' side which I always really prefer for realistic purposes. Though it's mainly comedy, you can already feel some inner conflict brewing but I absolutely love that it glosses over it due to the funny bits so it doesn't leave a sour taste.
- Character development is still pretty shallow, though we're only 3 volumes in so can't really hold that accountable yet.
Enjoyment 10/10
+ It's a fun and beautiful piece and even though it has no cliffhangers or dirty tactics to keep you reading, I couldn't put it down. Satisfyingly addictive and well, my inner cat lady just couldn't ignore this cute white-tailed protagonist, could it?
- X
~
Overall 10 as I'm greatly enjoying this manga so far. Initially it resembled the manga The Saint's Magic is Omnipotent a bit too cunningly which I was a bit wary of, but I'm glad I stuck through because whereas the Saint's manga is light-hearted too, it gives off a feeling of being more soft and kind, whereas Ruri's story here is more funny and cute (though as a character she's also soft and kind). So really, I shouldn't compare, as it wouldn't do any of both manga justice. I can only recommend this manga and hope for its swift publication - though not too swift so it'll rush the author; please take your time. And in the meantime, I'll probably read the light novel to satisfy my curiosity until it's turned into wonderful art by Aki.

Story 7/10
+ Easy going, not too dramatic though the characters are going through quite some (emotional) hurdles, pleasant feeling overall, giving this shounen-ai story not necessarily that kick and excitement I often like but rather a feeling of remaining content and of mutual understanding because the story de-escalates its course wonderfully and beautifully.
- No strong fluttering, fuzzy feelings and the story remains pretty superficial though that's just the storytelling in itself and not what's actually happening. My heart did squeeze during one scene though that's not where the focus lies. I also quite resent there not being a spin-off for Suzu and Eri.
Art
...
10/10
+ More cartoon or fushion with ghibli style of drawing which takes some getting used to if you're not used to it, though it's quite consistent in itself. In hindsight it also adds to the de-escalating of the story pretty well so the drama doesn't get too negative. The food scenes are drool-drippingly exquisite though and, gosh, I almost forgot the absolutely stunning cat-shots throughout this movie. It's details like this which make the entire work so vibrant and lovely that you just get swept along.
- Not my cup of tea with the more childish art style.
Sound 9/10
+ Nice and easygoing backgrounds, almost unnoticeably well-meshed with what's happening visually.
- I did find Mio's adult voice to be trying a bit too much to be gay whereas this story dissolves otherwise pretty well the traditonal male-female roles. I hope I don't offend anyone saying this as it's not my intention.
Character 9/10
+ Good character development to the main characters, spanning over their history and future worries as well.
- Suzu and Eri have some chemistry going on and it was absolute torture to not let us look into their relationship more.
Enjoyment 10/10
+ If you've had your fill of heart-pounding romance, this is a realy good change of pace. For queer people I can also imagine this giving a taste of belonging and acceptance, as it made me feel as if genders didn't really matter and even more: I wasn't even thinking in genders anymore.
- It's all in the expectations when going into this one, so just go with the flow.
~
Total of 9 since it's such a stunning artwork. The only lesser point is that there's less of an impact or heart-wretching/pounding moments, though, on the other side, that fact only adds to the experience in my opinion; I immensely enjoyed and appreciate this movie, but at the end of the day it probably won't be remembered for long just because of its lack of punch. Though, then again, that's also why I liked it. Gosh, I'm struggling here, perhaps I should give it a higher score after all?

Story 10/10
+ isekai, awakening as the villainess of a game, conquering your death flags, starting from the villainess as she is a child and gets to know all other characters, though a lot of time is spent about the time before the otome game starts I actually love the care and time spent there, survival, comedy, romance, fantasy, aristocracy.
- the story gets milked out after Katarina gets past the ending of the game, though I will disregard that facts as I dropped this series afterwards. As such, this review will only review the series until the end of the game Katarina is reincarnated in.
Art
...
10/10
+ The characters are beautiful and I really like the snippy artwork it has and Katarina's 'evil eyes'. Less polished, but it fits perfectly with the story and the feelings you want the reader to have. Nicely detailed as well, though alternated with chibi's at perfect intervals.
- Less big panel artworks because of the comedy aspect of the story.
Characters 10/10
+ The story takes quite some time on the development of the characters when they're still children, long before the otome game starts and long before the protagonist of that game appears. This gives Katarina a lot of time to play into the death flags and build up some preparations. The character development is best in these first chapters as each character gets introduced one by one - giving them all their own spotlight so you fall in love with every one of them in turn. And, to end with, who couldn't fall in love with gullible, thick Bakarina?! She enchants all her readers!
- They're all too lovable, making me frustrated over who I want Katarina should to actually fall in love with in the end.
Enjoyment 10/10
+ Fun, cute, funny and with quite the dramatic high point, it's the perfect story to have introduced me into this isekai genre.
- Milking out is no good! I bought the first few volumes and will keep it at that.
~
Overall of 10! I'm incredibly grateful for this manga to be my first introduction into this isekai genre and I must admit I've been reading little else ever since. It's made me hungry for more and I won't be stopping any time soon!

Story 7/10
+ isekai, teen girl, awakening as the villainess of a game, conquering the villain which is also a target for the protagonist, romance, fantasy, demon king, holy maiden with a holy sword, demons, politics, aristocracy, strong and short impact due to 3 volumes, cute extra chapters at the end.
- the story is a bit rushed and some twist and turns don't get completely worked out, and I might have done with a bigger development of the romantic side of things as well.
Art 10/10
+ Beautiful design of characters, each with very distinct features. Nicely detailed as well, I particularily enjoyed the way of
...
shadowing in the face, interchanged with some comic chibi's. The artwork also has a nice flow and movement, as I am always baffled how hair can be drawn as being so alive and fluffy.
- Nothing to improve here!
Characters 9/10
+ Characters have their own motivation and I absolutely love how the Demon King's feelings are linked with the weather and flowers. The way the antagonist's (or, in the game's set-up, the protagonist) character develops is quite unique as well and really gives the story a 180° turn. For the short length of 3 volumes I find most characters are going through their own developments quite splendidly, including some side characters.
- Somehow, Aileen, our protagonist waking up as a villainess, falls a bit flat: I had some trouble connecting with her motivations and how her feelings develop. Perhaps it's me, though, or again the shortness of the story. Some side characters their development is minimal - some more than others though so the more lovable ones you will still see flowering into bloom as the story evolves.
Enjoyment 10/10
+ Many moe-moments for those who like their target of the romance to be a bad-boy-who-actually-is-really-kind, the story is also quite fun even though there are plenty such isekai stories nowadays. If you can put the rushed story aside, it's a real fun read for in-between. I actually find it a good point that it's short as well, as other stories tend to milk it out a bit if you know what I mean.
~
Overall of 9 which is only basically due to the puzzle pieces being slammed together so you can't really enjoy the development of the death flags being overcome or the new turns and twists sprouting from overcoming those flags. Though this is only because quite a lot of happenings are crammed into 3 volumes. The extra chapters at the end make up for it though. The romance is cute and quite innocent, though it fits with the ages of our characters. This read is really a perfect go-betweener if you want a little fuzzy feeling before going to sleep or don't want to invest in (1) unfinished stories and (2) isekai romance genres milking out their twist and turns.

Story 8/10
+ Explicit, thriller, horror, drama, battle royale idea with survival of the fittest, clever plot twist are cleverly woven in together, the one-liners in between also had me seriously cracking up when they seldomly appeared.
- Combining sci fi and supernatural feels like pushing the limits of which types of fantasy should and shouldn't be mixed, and still not sure if I'm buying Kurono as the strongest out there only because of his state of mind. Also, don't go and decide what's after death please.
Art 10/10
+ Beautifully detailed and explicit, of a more realistic style than generic manga as well. So much care
...
and attention went into the flow of the entire characters, to the story flow (I could sometimes feel certain action shots in slow motion), as even the backgrounds. I'm especially impressed by the bigger overviews, surely it equals even the most famous of paintings, I would use one as my background if only not so much were happening in them at the same time, they're fit to be printed and pasted onto an entire wall in a mansion - fresco style!
- It took some getting used to, and not sure whether I'm still a fan of the protruding chins everyone seems to have, but after 50 or so chapters you'll find yourself absolutely loving it.
Characters 10/10
+ Wonderful character development, even those that didn't last very long in the 'game' or those you don't particularly like are preciously written into the story so they become a valuable part of the entire artwork.
- Sometimes it feels like characters become caricatures of themselves, though I blame the severity of some situations for that and it adds to the drama of its all. Certain bigger characters could also have a little more depth or development in comparison to others, though yet again I'm not mad because it can be attributed to certain things that had happened. This series values other aspects and that's perfectly fine.
Enjoyment 9/10
+ Superb tension building, the switching to and fro between simultaneous fights/events/... is expertly done and adds a nice rhythm to the story while keeping you on edge to what's about to happen.
- Personally I'm not really a fan of sci fi and the mixing with supernatural genre was a bit of a turn-off for me, but even so I'm glad I finished the series, so definitely a manga you simply have to have read at some point in my honest opinion.
~
Overall of 9.25 which could probably be a 10 if I were more into sci fi. I personally could've done without the change of pace after the first 100 or so chapter (the entire end of the world idea), though I do admit that it somehow all fits and blends in awfully well together. I'm sure this will a manga and story than will survive the test of time and even though it's not entirely my cuppa, I enjoyed it plenty, so a masterpiece nonetheless!

Story 8/10
+ Explicit yaoi, uncensored, alpha omega universe, historical, romance, drama, revolutionary, not the cliché flow of fated pairing story arc, unexpected neko/tatchi.
- Even though situated in the alpha-verse it's an unusual take on the story, it's awfully romantical to the point perhaps of being sappy. Sometimes it also feels a tad rushed as too much information (time leaps/actions/motivations) is being put into the manga, I'd liked it to be a bit more worked out though one volume doesn't have nearly enough space for that. The extra story of current-time army was another nice turn of events though!
Art 10/10
+ Beautiful artwork, loving the
...
curls and real attention went to the intricate costumes.
- Perhaps too much curl? Haha I don't remember anyone with straight hair to be honest.
Character 9/10
+ Beautiful conviction of the characters and as a reader you can clearly follow the reasoning of each and every one of them. The explicitness of the biological differences in the alpha-verse, were also quite refreshing.
- Perhaps due to it only having one volume, a bit shallow in deeper character development. The few snippets of earlier childhood could've been an entire volume before the actual one we have now.
Enjoyment 9/10
+ It was a beautiful and stunning take on a very much established genre, and well executed to boot, what's not to like?
- Though explicit, it didn't really make me all hot and bothered like other yaoi. Perhaps the building up of tension lacks a bit.
~
Overall of 9, definitely give this a try for a little different pace and enjoy the beautiful art while you're at it. Just don't expect too much as it's only a one-volume story.

Story 9/10
+ Short comedy sketches for plenty variety and laughter, slice of life, middle school, very accessible comedy subjects so everyone will snort/giggle/spit out no matter their background or culture.
- No real story progression, sketches weren't as funny as the original series either unfortunately, but still fun enough, just not gut-wrenchingly hilarious.
Art 10/10
+ If the artwork itself doesn't convince you, it also uses nice textures and unique rough style for extra comedy relief. The drawing style changes at the perfect timing and is carefully selected and developed for the anime format, truly clever work and excellently worked out.
- Bit more slacked off
...
in comparison to the original series.
Sound 10/10
+ the voice acting is truly super, such a wide variety of sounds which usually would never make it into an anime which make for a, nice contrast in opening and ending theme song even though both aren't really my style it's a smart move and fits the series to a T.
- Hanako's voice actress: please take care of your voice, you're brilliant so I wouldn't want you to suffer any consequences, even though I bow to your brilliant talent.
Character 10/10
+ A somehow loveable and hilarious trio of oddballs, new characters don't just vanish after the subplot has been concluded and show up again during segments in other short stories
- No real deep dive or character development, whereas I did become a bit too curious for Aozora's development, though I will definitely check out the manga for that.
Enjoyment 9/10
+ This anime had me laughing. out. loud. in public the first time I watched it and even after the third rewatch I'm still snorting, crying and spitting out loud in amusement. A true masterpiece on all fronts.
- Even though rewatching is still plenty enjoyable, I wish I could have the experience of watching this series for the first time again.
~
Overall of 9.6 and I don't know what else to say but to just watch this series as it's way too hilarious and good to pass up on. Everything (yes all weird aspects of it) work perfectly together which just shows how carefully it's been put together. Please make more of these types of series, it's even better than (dare I say it?) Danshi Koukousei no Nichijou or Lucky Star!
