Yippee, another princess anime, I sure hope it plays out differently from the other ones. Actually, yes as a matter of fact. Instead of someone reincarnating as a princess or having the main girl be a commoner who magically meets a prince, Kanpekisugite Kawaige ga Nai to Konyaku Haki sareta Seijo wa Ringoku ni Urareru instead has the main character, Philia be a saint instead, someone who's responsible for performing miracles and getting rid of monsters. There's just one problem, everyone hates her because...uh, she doesn't smile? She's TOO good at her job? I don't know.
Even her parents hate her, the only person in this
...
kingdom who likes her is her sister, Mia, who's also a saint. Her fiancé, prince Julius, also hates her for no real reason and sells her off to a neighboring kingdom to be their saint to get her out of his hair. This is where my first complaint is, everyone in her original kingdom except her sister is so cartoonishly evil, especially Julius and her parents. Felt like I was watching a Disney movie. That's the problem with this idea imo, literally nothing Philia does warrants hatred, I get that's the point so we like her, but it just makes him selling her off feel forced. At least give us a valid reason they would want to sell her off instead of "idk, they hated her from birth for some reason". I get that they're trying to do a favoritism plot where the parents love Mia but not Philia, but like...Philia's the oldest one and she's even better at her job than Mia. sigh, guess they just hate kuuderes. For shame.
As you might of guessed, when she gets to the new kingdom, it's night and day. Everyone loves her and appreciates her work, and doesn't mind her emotionless looking face. The prince here, Prince Oswald welcomes her with open arms and you can tell he's going to be her love interest from episode 1. This is clearly where the plot was going, but I still felt...bored. I don't know, as cartoonish as the other kingdom was, at least they were entertaining because of how stupid they acted. But once she gets sold to the new kingdom it just turns into a standard fairy tale-esk anime where she'll finally experience joy and true love. The characters are likable at least, but that doesn't mean the plot itself isn't a drag.
I honestly like Mia's plot better than Philia's, where she finds out what the prince and her parents did to her sister. So she pretends to act dumb, and agrees to marry Julius just so she can get revenge. I'm one of those weirdos who likes asshole characters so I get a kick from watching Julius and her parents despite how awfully they're written.
This anime's biggest problem is just that it's predictable, she gets sold to another kingdom, turns out they're nicer to her and only her home kingdom were assholes. She meets a guy she'll fall in love with and become a princess after marrying him, meanwhile the other kingdom will fall into ruins due to Philia not being there, making Julius regret his decision and try to get her back, but it'd be too late since Philia is happier over there than she ever was in her hometown. Well, that last part hasn't happened yet, but that's my guess anyways.
Overall, it's a fine show. Looks pretty, and appeals to a specific demographic who enjoys these kinds of shoujo anime. I was never too fond of these types, I always thought they were pretty predictable with the same type of characters over and over, but Kanpekisugite Kawaige ga Nai to Konyaku Haki sareta Seijo wa Ringoku ni Urareru has proved me wrong with the characters. I actually like most of these guys, I just find the plot kind of boring.

Shiunji-ke no Kodomotachi is another masterpiece created by the one and only Reiji Miyajima, the mastermind behind Rent-A-Girlfriend. Everything this man touches is gold and clearly the anime industry knows that too, letting studio Doga Kobo animate his latest show, the studio to turn to if you want to adapt any material with incest in it.
Let me ruin the fun by saying...yes, this plot is weird as fuck. A family with 7 children who all grew up thinking they were actual siblings, only for their dad to drop a bombshell on the youngest sister's birthday that they are, in fact, not related. Well except
...
for two of them who'll probably get the least amount of screentime compared to the others. This man really asked himself "how can I make a manga about incest without it technically being incest" and it somehow turned into an anime.
So, what makes this weirder than other stepsister anime/manga out there like Domestic Girlfriend or Days With My Stepsister? In those shows, they knew of each other before their parents remarry and are thrown into a step sibling dynamic out of the blue. In this anime, they thought they were actually siblings for over a decade. Even if you can ignore that part, Kotono (the youngest sister) literally had feelings for her brother before the whole twist happened.
I'm also not a huge fan with how quick the sisters change how they view him, at least give it a month before you develop feelings for him god damn. At least he still thinks of his sisters as sisters, blood related or not. you know, like a normal person would. But I'm sure that'll change too. As far as what to except character wise, this is just the incest version of Quintessential Quintuplets.
Doga Kobo is the highlight of this show, everything pops out and looks beautiful, and the animation while weaker then in their other works imo, is still higher quality then this show probably deserves. That's not to say the show is dogshit or anything, I think if you can look past the premise and not take it seriously, it can be fun at times. Although, there isn't many actual jokes and a lot of character drama...I think this is actually supposed to be taken seriously guys...oh well, at least we can goon to the sisters- oh wait only one of them is of age..DAMN YOU REIJI MIYAJIMA!!!

Please Put Them On, Takamine-san is one of the 3 ecchi shows this season, and also the only one I'll make a review for since it's the only one that feels most like it's trying to be a show and not just masturbation material.
It's about our loser MC, Shirota who for some reason doesn't get affected by Takamine's power that let's her rewind time by taking off her underwear. She uses this to her advantage and makes him into her "closet", basically a puppy dog that follows her around and puts her underwear on her, that's it. That's the entire plot.
This feels like one
...
of those anime that has an interesting idea, but they do almost nothing with it. They do not really take advantage of it being an ecchi, the few scenes we do get with boobies and ass cheeks are just brief and there's hardly any fetish play or something to make it stand out from the other ecchi anime out there. If you want to make a borderline hentai show, go all out, don't just make a very dull romcom with some ecchi sprinkled in. I think the erotic part is supposed to be him putting her underwear on her, but once you do it so many times it, the audience will get desensitized to it, especially when the MC is too much of a pussy to take a peek and the scene just ends.
Speaking of the MC, Shirota is a terrible character. It's like they took the average loser protagonist and somehow made him 100 times more pathetic. Not to mention Takamine is just a bitch with no redeeming qualities other than being hot, the way she gets Shirota to become her closet is by staging a rape scene and only turning back time if Shirota agrees to it. I don't care how much you try to make me care for her in the later episodes, that's something that you can't just forget.
I get some people reading this might be like "dude, it's just a gooner anime, don't take it so seriously" but they are trying to make the audience care about this relationship between this massive bitch and for lack of better words, her slave. Just watch Makina is a sex bot or Yandere Dark Elf: She Chased Me All the Way From Another World if you want to get your rocks off this season, they also have terrible plots and characters, but what they lack in story they make up for in fanservice.

The Gorilla God's Go To Girl is a shoujo anime alright. It has an interesting concept I will say, in a world where you receive a God's blessing at the age of 16, our protagonist, Sophia gets the blessing of the Gorilla God. Which predictably gives her super strength and everything else associated with a gorilla. With this power, she's enrolled into the knight exams where she meets the main guys of the series. Golden Retriever Isaac, marksman Eddie, and the big man himself, Louis who is the love interest.
Let me start with with this, I am not a fan of these female MCs, to
...
me they're likable as a person, but not as the protagonist. Sophia is timid and meek all the time and stutters out every sentence, which for a side character isn't terrible but it does not make for a good main character. Honestly, characters like Sophia are just female versions of the shy boy protagonists in romcoms in my opinion.
and do I really need to mention the other guys? You can already guess what they act like. The energetic one, the quiet and mysterious one, and the prince-like one.
I do like the gorilla stuff though and how she always ends up doing everything correctly because of it, just wish they used it more rather than just making the exact same shoujo anime you've seen a dozen times by now. It's like if they took the concept of Fruits Basket but instead of them actually turning into the animals, they just had the characteristics of the animals and made it way more generic.
All in all, it's a fine show. These types of shoujo anime just aren't for me obviously. but that's not to say there isn't an audience for it. It was interesting enough for me to watch 3 episodes, so that has to mean something, right?

Katainaka no Ossan, Kensei ni Naru aka If Paul from Mushoku Tensei became an upstanding citizen. It's a fairly simple premise, a 30 something year old man named Beryl is a country bumpkin swords instructor. one of his former students, a woman named Allucia who's now the commander of the knights comes to visit him and let's him know that he will become the new swords instructor for the knights. That's about it. He meets more of his former students at the kingdom, who of course, are all women.
First off, the animation is pretty good for a generic fantasy and they actually blend CGI into
...
some of the scenes well, it's almost unnoticeable. That being said...the actual plot is kind of nothing right now, 3 episodes in and there isn't really a goal, just kind of running around until they encounter a monster or a group of bandits, which they only cut to the aftermath for some of them.
The characters aren't nothing too special either, they have more to them then most of these fantasy shows, but nothing that makes me care for them. Allucia is the stoic commander who lets herself have fun when off duty, Surena is the tomboy of the group who's very competitive but behaves herself around Beryl, Curuni is the bubbly one who is this shows closest thing to a catgirl, and Ficelle is the calm and collected one who can use magic and teases Beryl sometimes.
None of them are bad characters, just kind of...boring. Hopefully I change my mind on Surena next episode, but I'm not holding my breath.
Beryl himself isn't that exciting to watch either, he's just a humble guy who's always professional and wants nothing more than to help his students, which makes him an all around nice guy, but it makes for a pretty boring main character who never gets angry. I appreciate that he's not an OP character though, he's just a swordsman, he doesn't have magic that can blow up the sun or anything like that.
Overall, Katainaka no Ossan, Kensei ni Naru isn't a bad show and has potential to get better, but right now it's just kind of boring where most of the well animated action scenes come from practice matches between him and the students and his former students. Although the one he had with the loli great mage or whatever she is was pretty good.

For the Anime industry's quest to remake every 80s-90s anime, we have Yaiba: Samurai Legend animated by Studio Wit. I knew nothing about this show going in, and honestly might have skipped it if not for the godlike animation from Studio Wit. The thumbnail for this show does look like a children's anime and I thought it was until I saw the trailers.
The author for the manga is Gosho Aoyama who also made Detective Conan, which is very evident from the art style and since the main girl, Sayaka just looks like a younger version of Ran from Detective Conan
Now I could give this
...
a 10/10 purely for the animation, but I'm not going to do that because there is something called a plot and characters which happen to be my biggest complaints about the show. Yaiba is a kid who grew up in a forest with his father until one day they get moved to the city where they live with Sayaka's family. He follows her to school and there he meets a man that will turn into his rival, Onimaru. A promising high school swordsman who faces a humiliating loss against Yaiba, you know, a child. Events happen and Onimaru turns into an actual demon thanks to a devil sword.
It's a bare bone shounen anime, which isn't a bad thing exactly, but since it's from a manga made in the late 80s, the humor is mostly slapstick and fanservice which makes me not really care about the actual plot as much. That could have part to do with the characters, I do not care about anyone in our main cast so far. Yaiba entirely depends on if you find him cute and funny and not an annoying little shit. I get it, kids are assholes..but c'mon, you can at least try to make him likable instead of this cocky prick who wants to fight all the time. But at the same time I also don't like Onimaru when he turns into a demon because he also just turns into a prick who wants to beat the shit out of a little kid. Sayaka is the most tolerable but that's just because she's the 'girl' character who follows Yaiba around
Also, maybe it's just this show but old school fanservice seemed way more creepy than modern fanservice. Don't get me wrong, there's still a lot of morally questionable anime nowadays, but most of them at least try to make the character look like an adult. In Yaiba, Sayaka looks like she can pass as almost the same age as him which makes scenes when he's looking up her skirt and watching her change just feel creepy knowing a grown man wrote it. This isn't me calling the author a creep either, fanservice is universal in anime and you can find it anywhere, I just find it extremely unnecessary.
All that being said, the last episode does leave me intrigued where the story is going, Yaiba seems to be maturing somewhat and Sayaka...well, she'll probably just become a damsel in distress, let's be honest. Other than arguably the best animation of the season, Yaiba: Samurai Legend is a good shounen series that doesn't reinvent the wheel, but there's a few hurdles to jump through before the story becomes good and not aggravating.

Rock Is a Lady's Modesty is simple, it's about a girl named Lilisa who's mom remarries a rich guy and now their part of a rich family and they have to do rich people things. Namely being prim and proper all the time, which for Lilisa is challenging since she's into rock music and played guitar. So when she goes to her new fancy all girls school for rich kids, she's forced to abandon her hobby so she isn't seen as a stain on her family's name. Because everyone knows real estate tycoons are the most respected individuals and they don't need a rowdy teenager
...
giving them a bad name.
Her passion for guitar rekindles slightly after finding out that the most popular girl in school and the daughter of a politician named Otoha, likes to play drums in the old school building. They don't get off on the best foot, and they will probably always fight with each other after their sessions are done. But hey, if it works it works. I love the Jekyll-Hyde dynamic the girls both have going on, more so Otoha since she actually might be bipolar. It's really fun to watch them devolve into screaming matches calling each others playing shit.
I'm writing this before any of the other members join the group so I may come back and update this review then, but I imagine they'll be more of the same, maybe just more toned down.
Another thing I forgot to mention is this show will either end up being a yuri or just has a lot of yuri bait in it, which I personally don't mind, rock and roll lesbians are awesome. But I'm aware there's a decent chunk of the anime community who aren't too fond of that kind of stuff, so if you're one of those people, this show probably won't be for you.
Now let's talk about the elephant in the room...the CGI is not that bad. I won't call it great, but come on, some people act as if it's an immersion breaker that completely ruins the anime. Hate to break it to you, but a majority of band anime use CGI, I think the only reason this one looks off is because of the scenery. It blended in much better when the visuals were all colorful and psychedelic instead of the band room. The animation as a whole looks great, everything's so lively and colorful.
Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if this winds up being the best band/music anime of 2025. Maybe it's too soon to call since we still have Summer and Fall left, but I don't care, I liked this anime way more than I thought I would and I don't even watch this type of genre that much.

The Brilliant Healer's New Life in the Shadows is another of the "kicked out of the hero party" fantasy anime, just from that you should know what type of quality to expect. It's also part of the new craze where the healers get the focus of the story except less...Redo Of Healer.
Zenos is a brilliant healer who opens an underground clinic in the slums after being kicked out of his party for...some reason, you'd think they would want a healer who can do feats like Zenos, but nope. Who needs a healer anyway, right?
Zenos isn't one of those characters who's kind of weak in
...
the beginning and immediately get OP the next episode, no. This motherfucker can reconstruct muscles, tissue, and flesh to create new limbs from the very start and overall compared to most fantasy MCs, Zenos is actually competent and isn't constantly nervous around everything that has tits. Which is kinda sad that that kind of character is a step up, that should be the standard in my opinion.
Now let's get to everyone's favorite part; the harem. It's easily my least favorite part about the anime. We have the loli girl that he saved from slave traders who now loves him. a ghost girl who has that annoying ass "huhuhu~" laugh. Then the lizard girl, wolf girl, and orc girl which are all interchangeable to me. None of them are interesting in the slightest, they're just there to make weebs pick and choose their favorite.
One thing I will give the anime credit for is they don't even try to hide it, the 1st episode practically opens up with every girl being introduced right off the bat. Maybe I'm too harsh on harems, it's just not my thing. I'm just so tired of seeing the same types of girls in every goddamn generic fantasy anime. Surely there's more personalities to choose from than the same 5 over and over.
Ignoring the harem part though, I personally think this is one of the better generic fantasy anime, not good by any means, but it's fun. Zenos is a more likable protagonist and I find the actual plot kind of interesting. The animation is also weirdly good for a show like this, the scene where he makes a new arm for the lizard girl is pretty damn smooth. If you want decent fantasy schlock to just turn your brain off too, this one is for you.

I came into Catch Me at the Ballpark! with one simple question, how will they make a romance primarily set in a baseball stadium for 12 24 minutes episodes? easy, have each episode contain 3 stories with different characters. Which has a few pros and cons, but I honestly think they do it pretty well.
plot:
The main story follows Ruriko, a gyaru beer vendor who fakes a teasing persona to drive up sales, and Murata, a depressed office worker who's only joy in life is watching the game. Since Murata shows up to the stadium so often, he's become a regular and Ruriko takes every chance
...
she can get to tease and talk to him.
and to quickly go over some of the side stories we have a wife to one of the players who goes to see him play when she can, a girl who works at a food stall despite wanting to be a beer vendor to show off her legs. an American player who somehow played in the MLB despite not being portrayed as a great player who gets distracted easily. and the mascot that everyone treats as this mysterious entity that cheers everyone up when they feel down. There's also the other beer vendor girls that show up every now and then, but they haven't gotten much about them yet. There was a few more, but those were the ones with characters I feel will show up the most.
characters:
There are a lot of characters in this show, and probably even more to come. So to shorten this review a little bit, I'll only cover Ruriko and Murata since they're the main focus. Ruriko is perfect for anyone who loves teasing characters, she doesn't go too far to where it feels like bullying which I appreciate. Murata is...well, just because he's an adult don't expect him to have a backbone. He's better than most, but he's still that "has trouble talking to women" type of guy.
art/animation:
Studio EMT Squared has a whopping 3 shows airing in the same season: Once Upon A Witch's Death, Catch Me at the Ballpark!, and The Unaware Atelier Meister. It's pretty evident which one they put most of their resources to, but that's not to say Catch Me at the Ballpark! looks bad, it's a slice of life show, it doesn't need amazing animation as long as it's pleasant to look at. Which I think it is, I really like the art style, it's simple but charming, and I like how colorful everything is.
Conclusion:
I really like Catch Me at the Ballpark! if that wasn't obvious, it's a good show to turn on and just feel happy. I don't think it's an amazing show or anything, it's quite simple and I'm aware not everyone likes these more episodic anime series, but I don't know this is right up my alley for comfy shows. If you're only watching for just the romance element, than you might be disappointed since Ruriko and Murata might interact in only 1 of the 3 stories per episode, hell I don't think they even had a segment in one of them.

Sword Of The Demon Hunter was a very welcome surprise, especially after such a lackluster season that was Winter 2025. I came into this expecting it to be good..but just that, but honestly if the rest of the episodes are as good as the first 3 are, I think it could be one of the best new shows for Spring 2025.
Plot:
If I described the entire plot, I would just spoil the first episode. So I'll give you the stupefied version instead.
Jinta and his sister, Suzune live with their abusive father who beats on her because she has a demon eye. They escape from the
...
house and run into a man who happens to be the husband and bodyguard to the current Itsukihime. They also have a daughter named Shirayuki who's to be the next Itsukihime once her mother dies, which surprise surprise, she does. Time skip around a decade later and now Jinta and Shirayuki are grown, while Suzune is still the same since she's you know...half-demon, which makes her age slowly. Shirayuki is now the Itsukihime and Jinta is one of her bodyguards, and that's where I'll stop. Anymore and I'd just spoil the first episode. Just know that events lead to Jinta going on a 170 year journey hunting demons in order to find his sister.
characters:
I really like these characters, they're nothing we haven't seen before, but they're likable. Jinta is your stoic protagonist, but he still has a heart and will listen to peoples backstories and engage in conversation, and he even lets the demons give him their name before he kills them. How nice of him.
Suzune sadly I can't say much right now since they write her out of the show after the first episode, but as long as they don't make her full bloodthirsty heartless demon, I think she could be an interesting character.
I also like the side characters we've been introduced to so far, especially the demon, Mosuke introduced in episode 3 who's just a guy trying to blend in with humanity to live a peaceful life who's also hunting the same demon Jinta is because it killed his wife. Which I love, I love when the monsters in anime are portrayed more complex than just mindless monsters, and they have a more not everything is black and white element. That's why I adore 'Shiki' so much, the humans and vampires are both assholes but also have sympathetic characters in the mix.
art/animation:
This is where it falters a little, while not bad by any means, the animation hasn't impressed me at all either. The art on the other hand is great, I love how dark everything is, and the demons look amazing. I was a little worried when I saw the studio was Yokohama Animation Lab since they don't have the best track record, but no, Sword Of The Demon Hunter is great so far.
Conclusion:
This is not a Demon Slayer clone, which is what I initially thought. It's set in a similar period, and both Tanjiro and Jinta hunt demons, plus the demons are a little bit more complex than just "bloodthirsty killer" in both, but that's where the similarities end. I honestly think this might have a better story and characters than Demon Slayer, while Demon Slayer will top it in art and animation alone.
I really like Sword Of The Demon Hunter and hopefully the rest of the episodes maintain the same quality.
