Based on the few clips I had seen of this show, I expected it to be a bad ecchi anime only loosely related to food, and I wrote it off and decided not to watch it. Spoiler-free review.
First I'll do my review without spoilers, and below I'll put one with spoilers. At first, this light novel/manga was all right, but the more you read the worse it gets. A lot of people really like this story and praise it as "the only isekai with actual character development" and things like that, and while that's true for the first few volumes, but after volume 7 or so, the author throws out any more character development in favor of other things.
