Both have strong leading female MCs have a childhood in which both MCs involve themselves in some form of rebellion against the "utopian" society they exist in before giving themselves over to it in adulthood. Until something draws them away from it, in both cases that something being a love, thought to have been dead since childhood & the curiosity that comes along with reconnecting to the person who once promised something better, something more, than what theyve settled for in the meantime. Both feature a version of civilized society that holds itself to a new standard of living. Being built after a catastrophic human inflicted event nearly destroyed humanity as a whole.
