Both Keima and Louis are incredibly intelligent, sharp-tongued weirdoes who are almost always on top of the situation. This also makes the amusingly arrogant, yet they have a surprising tender side to them. They also like to abuse their side kicks. Both stories are affectionate parodies of Dating Sims and Fairy Tales respectively.

Nana and Vash are good-natured, goofy and very idealistic characters who use their strength to do what they think is right, yet they are not foolhardy or obnoxious. Pacifism and even Vash's catchphrase (the world is made of) "love and peace" are pervading Tripeace as well. They are both inherently wacky, with many different colorful characters, and it is very easy to build strong bonds to these characters. Both Trigun and Tripeace build their their unique, yet easily accessible world. Shiro is like an action version of Merryl in that she is a straight man and very serious, but she is more of a fighting badass than her older counterpart. Also, Vash and Nana have blonde hair and wear a red coat, if you're into that
