I was quite surprise with this manga.
I was expecting the more cliche highschool supernatural romantic but I really enjoy this very cute story.
Sakura Karukawa was just a normal highschool girl enjoying her rhythmic gymnastics with her club and adored by her two older siblings.
One night she learn the true about her family as her older siblings were kidnapped.
A stranger name Yoiyami inform her that her siblings are taken to a school for the supernatural, told her to enroll there to safe her siblings.
While she holds the key to what lies ahead of her.
The story starts pretty much steady as we get to know our Heroine
...
and how far she is willing to go to dangers to get her siblings back. Its nice to see that because most highschool manga mostly about finding a boyfriend.
Sakura is very sweet girl and made friends with the supernatural creatures among the school
Yoiyami is very mysterious and kind to her and not playing the 'Its not that I like you to help you' type. He's a breathe of fresh air.
I adore Sakura and Yoiyami relationship has it starts to bloom throughout the story, taking its time in a steady pace and slowly warm up to each other rather then just rush into the hugs and kisses.
The other characters are fun to.
The art is just to adorable~ I love how the mangaka draws hanfu and royal robes, so beautiful~
How soft and genuine the romance scenes are in the manga.
I really recommend this manga and I really hope it gets an anime sometime in the future.

I stumble upon this on youtube and gave it a watch, an anime movie from the 1970s is really charming
The story is simliar to the book, Thumbelina no bigger then a thumb made friends with the animals during her adventure.
Character designs is made by the late talented Osamu Tezuka. Famous for Kimba the White Lion and the very well known Astro Boy (Mighty Atom) and the backgrounds are just so very beautiful, they feel magical.
I can't say anything bad about it, its just a charming anime movie from the 70s
If you love fairy tales give this a watch.

I seen this twice and re-watching it again, I really think its underrated, also a very rare gem of early anime too.
Story - This story is really a twist; it has elements of the story of Thumbelina base off Hans Christian Andersen but goes its own way.
A woman whose fed up of her daughter's bratty attitude went to the town's witch and ask what to do, the elderly witch gave her a book called 'Thumbelina' and told her to read it to her daughter.
When she get home, she told her daughter Mia about the story and started reading it; a few pages in the
...
story the Mother felt asleep and Mia decide to read the book however she suddenly grow smaller and smaller.
Mia started her adventures, made friends along the way as well while heading to a kingdom to get back home and avoiding the evil witch and her magic.
The story like I said has some elements of Thumbelina and a hint of the Wizard of Oz too while still being its own.
Characters like the Toads and the mouse appear in the story as well with other creative characters.
Characters - I'll admit their pretty descent but the only grew we see is our Main Character.
Mia is indeed a total and ungrateful brat, like kids mostly are when she suddenly shirk down; she was helpless and scare while still being bratty but along her journey, she starts being less of a brat.
-The side characters are fun and cute too, Noble and Hoppy are super cute.
Art- The art is good old school anime style, bright and colorful to dark and mysterious. True gem.
Sound - Thou I did watch the dub, the voices were okay and I'll admit Mia's voice gets annoying at first but gets better later on.
The music is wonderful and magical.
The only down side I'll admit is the Witch Character, thou I won't say anything about it.
This is a wonderful story to watch, and I want to find the DVD to this since its a cute story.

When I saw the cover of the manga one day I thought I should check it out and see what is about.
Boy I get angry every time; even when I re-read it a second time and drop it at the end of the final chapter in the third volume like a rock at the bottom of the ocean and hoping it'll stay there.
In a few pages in; we see our main heroine Misao while she can see supernatural creatures and when her birthday coming up, her friends ask her what she wanted, she cheerily answer 'I want a boyfriend!' and you know where this
...
is going and waited to see the cliches of the supernatural romances stories.
However as the story goes on, I wasn't very impress with it, Black Bird is the true manga counterpart of 'Twilight'.
Misao is really the most useless, weak and, HORRIBLE main Shojo girl; I ever seen, she is so stupid. She always cries; yes I know when you're scare or emotional stress you cry to release the emotion so you won't have a bit of break down later on, but she CRIES EVERY TIME!! and its really getting annoying, she gets kidnapped so many times, you question if she knows about Stranger danger, NOPE she just blindly follow someone/or goes somewhere else she knows/doesn't know into private area where no one is around, then someone tells something about like 'stay away'/'now your mine' she gets attack/almost killed/saved by Kyo or someone else and you know how or what she does from that experience?? NEVER LEARNS FROM IT and keeps putting herself in danger and never gets development.
Kyo is just eye-candy for the reader, he's not interesting and just the typical jerk-perv love interest/boyfriend who 'does love her' and by air-quotes I mean loves her and sexually harass her, I did once believe that he was a little to good for Misao in the chapters *I'm skim a few pages and won't spoil it*' however at the end of the final chapter, my opinion change of him, he does deserve her, The stupid and prick couple.
And later on it added more typical and negative cliches romance/soap opera sub-plots that make you want facepalm..hard in the face.
The art is really pretty, soft and sweet even thou the cover art I question at times and I know the mangaka is doing a good job.
The only thing you can enjoy is the smut and steamy parts in the manga thou it won't last long with some other cringe worthy type of subject in the manga.

A friend recommend it to me when we talked about new anime and she bring up this anime and I decide to give it a watch.
After watching I really have to question this....are all shojo girls/main characters today are stupid as a door nail? and I found it awful and wasn't impress.
Yui is so stupid; rather then just try to fight back or running away and find her friends or a family member; she stays to where all of the vampire brothers treat her like trash, use her a walking blood bank, belittle her and just do as they please to the point where you
...
rolled your eyes at this anime.
The male characters are just cruel and horrible when she didn't even do nothing to them.
Even when a threat appeared later on, sadly its bad as it is.
The Story; its the usual shojo harem cliches and dreadful.
The only two thing I'll give credit is;
1-The colors are very eye-catching and how neon and bright.
2- This somehow follows the Vampire Lore, some holy things and places won't harm them, they are monsters and they are lustful only after one thing: Blood.
This was an awful anime, and fans of the game stated it was horrible.
I hope this type of shojo *characters* will not continue the trend.

When FUNImation show the trailer a year or two years ago, I was very interest and it look like something new and I was excited to watch.
I was slowly watching it since it was a short series; when I finally finish watching it last year and.....I was disappointed.
I really saw the ideas and settings to make a interesting story and looks something new, when you get into the first two episodes in, and it was pretty okay...however when you get to the episode where you found out what Nai *the main character* really was....I laugh so hard and question 'what the hell?!" I won't spoil
...
it.
The story went no where, just a few missions and a big battle at the end and begs hoping it would get a season 2 thou nothing is ever explain like why our villains doing so; yes its okay to leave the watcher questioning until the big reveal happens however it just forgot about it and doesn't come back, the characters are flat and dull, none are interesting or develop.
The sad thing is that the colors where the only thing good about it.
I would only remmened it if you want to watch it for laughs

I'll be honest and say I never thought the Highlander series had its own anime movie and I recently got into the series when I turn 20 since I watch the first movie and bit of the TV series; both cartoon and live action, still planning to watch the rest, even the sequels.
I found the movie in my local 'nerd store', I didn't think it was real until I did some research and I decide to give it a watch, and I really enjoy the movie so much.
-The story is a basic revenge plot, with a war going on as main character enter the town
...
and become involved. Its not bad it is written well, thou you can tell where its going and how its going to end, it keeps your interest.
-I'm glad the made a new character for the movie then using Connor or Ducan. Thou Colin is 'one character motivation'; to get revenge of his clan and dead wife, his determination keeps him going no matter how many times he gets killed.
-The supporting cast done a good job as well, I'll admit I do like Dahlia as the main female character then the others in the movies and shows, I don't hate them they have improve themselves to be more the the love interest however Dahlia is more proactive in action department.
-Marcus is a enjoyable villain, and not insane like some of the Highlander villains, *thou I do enjoy the villain in the first movie* and he did said the truth about the world and society, willing to change it to see fit *into his eyes thou* no complex, however he's very calm and collection villain.
-The action is wonderful, the sword fights are fast-pace and get excited to see more, the animation is flowing and great, the landscapes and backgrounds are great and detail to show how a dis-utopia in the future is too.
-The dubbing is very good, and the accents are pretty descent.
I can't say anything about the negatives of the film; its a fun watch and if any fan of the Highlander or an Anime will enjoy it.
