With the conclusion of chapter 39, and the wait til November for Monthly Young Magazine Issue 12. I believe now's the right time to write a review for Watari Kun is on the brink of Collapse.
On the outside, Watari kun seems to fall on the genre of a harem, romance, comedy whatever. After thorough reading however, it doesn't have any elements of that. Watari kun can be extremely unlikable at first. Especially with the way it's synopsis was ditched after the first few chapters, making it look extremely disorganized, or the way the manga introduces its characters. However, it's definitely worth the read compared to
...
some other stuff you find nowadays.
Of course, since Watari kun is both a Seinen and a romance, it just so includes psyche traits and some other weird s*it. Personally having experienced social phobia and anxiety, i can more or less relate to some of the characters such as Ishihara-san, don't know if that's what the manga writers intended to do for the minority of the readers but i digress.
Watari kun is anything but a flawless masterpiece, but its enjoy ability is off the shelf, at least personally. Its biggest positive is that its ending is open to interpretation, there are way too many possibilities. SPOILERS HERE, for example, Satsuki chan could realize her feelings for Watari kun, it could be mutual seen as Watari kun always worries about her. Watari kun could simply stay as a lover with Ishihara-san, but that'd be wayyy too plain for a Seinen psychological. There are also possibilities with Suzu and her aunt, in fact it's hinted in the earlier chapters that the aunt also had a presumably caring brother that ditched her for his girlfriend, which she openly admits she "hates". I put this in quotation marks as Suzu often uses the same word when she gets jealous, but still deeply cares for her brother and perhaps there's a connection some where between Suzu and her auntie.
Overall, at chapter 39 i feel like Watari kun deserves something between a 7 and an 8. The score is mainly based off enjoyment, which i believe is the most important rating out of the others, but many things are not addressed such as the backstories and secrets of certain characters. Other characters are completely ignored. Hopefully in the coming volumes there'll be more to the story rather than just Ishihara san trying to bone the protagonist.
Oh yeah, and Satsuki is best girl.
