It's a continuation of the original but it's very different. The tone is more serious, which I preferred, but unfortunately that's as far as my praise goes when comparing it to the original. The animation is not nearly as good, but worse than that, they removed some indispensable characters like Koji, Karin, Hikaru, Rokusho, Medabot Professor, AND THE GADDAM REFEREE! The new characters are fine but it's heartbreaking seeing all the best characters of the original series go without any fanfare.

Amazing art, as usual for Z-ton's work. Considering that it's an official Medabots (Medarot) manga, it is quite lewd.
The story is a bit slice-of-life'ish with a bit of action and it works for it perfectly. I ended up liking all the characters, even though some of the characters didn't have much screen time. Honestly, I wish the manga was at least 20 chapters long. There 3DS game (that's excellent) has a lot more stories and there was a radio cd with even more stories and expanding on the characters' personalities but it's not the same without Z-ton's art.
