When I first started reading Tengoku Daimakyou I was halfway convinced the author had to be the same guy behind Fire Punch( and Chainsaw Man) and I was a bit surprised when I discovered this wasn't the case. There's a lot of overlap in themes between the two beyond the mere fact that both are set in a post-apocalyptical world. Foremost the exploration of the nature of humanity, human existence, identity and the shape human behaviour might take after society as we know it has collapsed. Beyond that we also get religious and deeply philosophical questions (although arguably the former might be more overt in Fire Punch). While Tengoku Daimakyou doesn't shy away from violence, gore and dark themes either (and boy does it get sad sometimes), Fire Punch in my opinion is the bleaker and "edgier" of the two, although both deserve a list of content warning. Nevertheless, both settings share a similar kind of gritty realism that is also evident in the artwork and the linework. Characters in both lean towards a certain degree of moral ambiguity and Kiruko and Maru, while being markedly different, have dynamic that reminds me of Agni and Togata, at least at the beginning. So yeah if you're looking for another manga with supernatural elements that doesn't shy away from mature themes, darkness and philosophical and existential questions this might be a good choice. I'd say Tengoku does longform storytelling clever foreshadowing better than Fire Punch and is more sci-fi-y, but Fire Punch has it beat in terms of nihilism.
