The anime's portrayal of realistic characters is truly fantastic. While some elements may be exaggerated, delving into the original novel reveals a darker and more somber tone than the anime or manga, which I wouldn't recommend. Initially, I found the character detestable due to his arrogance and rudeness, making the show unwatchable. However, he gradually evolves into someone more likable and relatable. I came to realize that my initial aversion stemmed from the character's realistic portrayal as someone obsessed with activities leading to a hikikomori lifestyle, only to realize that he had been deceived into this way of living.
One of the most realistic characters, Hitomi,

seems to have feelings for the main character but often treats him as a second option. Yamazaki, another character on the brink of hikikomori status, is hardworking and determined in his career pursuits but ultimately faces a bittersweet failure. Lastly, the magic pixie dream girl initially comes across as mentally unstable due to her motives and her way of falling in love with the main character. Her unwavering efforts to support the unemployed main character and her desire for him to be codependent with her forever left me feeling melancholic. Overall, I would rate this anime an 8.5. If you focus on understanding the characters rather than the overall theme, I'm sure you'll love it!
