An anime that is in a constant fight with itself: Inconsequential storytelling and indecisive story developement. And it just feels like to be in a constant race against time to just tick all the major checkboxes instead of taking time to unravel the story.

Yes the animations, sound and the dialogue are good, props for that, but what does it really matter if you can't relate to the characters. Many times I thought like: okay now I finally get some insights but whenever this happened I ended up with more questions than answers.

Okay okay I get it, it's only season 1 blablabla.. but guys cmon we ... need to judge this at some level and just doing a big prologue season is not gonna cut it for me for a franchise this strong.

Unironically some side characters got more going on than the main characters. But enough of that. Would I recommend? Yeah probably as a side-anime. But don't expect much because it's just a big introduction season.

This anime is a perfect example of how to start out very good by widening the world further and further for basically 2/3 of a series and then when you actually have to deliver and fill the world with life, meaningful characters, impactful choices and a conclusion - and you fail.

The author clearly realized halfway through that he overdid it and couldn't lead all loose ends of the story into something useful together, so he just went by a completely stereotypical ending.

And the saddest thing is, he's trying to conceal the fact by the way how hes telling the story: You are quick-swapping ... constantly in between 20 years ago - Present - 5 years ago - 15 years ago - 50 years ago - Present - 2 years ago - Present and so on to confuse the viewer to hide the fact that its just your typical random boring ending.

Of course the Art and Sound is unique of this anime - no doubt about it - the production value is awesome. Some fights in this serious overall are the best you gonna see in Anime, but if you rate the characters and story - it's all just a big disappointment.

This could've been the anime that breaks the standard, but in the end it's just like all these one-hit-wonders: Yes yes, the first season is great and all, but then the thing happens that happens with so many animes like this: the quality of the story drops immensely and nobody really knows or cares whats really going on, as long as we see some nice fight - hence why this series is usually rated so damn high.

This Manga shows the different aspects of love and presents in a really realistic way what problems 14 year olds face when they want to pursue love. Contrary to similar mangas, this one actually has compelling and interesting side characters that actually add something to the story and don't just try to buy time for the author to publish new content.

Sadly due to the manga having the premise of describing exactly that 14-year-old-timeframe, there is absolutely no progress in any of the love stories - neither the main one nor the side ones. This makes it so the relationship never grows and always feels like ... it's kinda in the balance of not exactly lovers but not friends either.

But all in all it's a good manga for in between!

I watched this Anime because I was searching for a Early Relationship Anime. And more or less I was disappointed. But the Soundtrack was amazing!

Guilty Crown's World is believable, also the overall assumptions that come with the plot make sense - but the execution is just so poor - it just feels like a series of missed opportunities. In comparison to similar titles like Darling in the FranXX where at least the romance is done well even tho the plot is poor, in Guilty Crown everything is just scuffed:

The Plot doesn't make sense, you never understand why the antagonists do what they do, all ... characters especially the main character don't grow at all, the romance is meaningless because there is no dialogue that would emphasize the fact that the male MC and the female lead even like each other. And while there were plenty of opportunities for conflict between them where - after solving those conflicts - you could've seen development, these conflicts occur and then are just straight up forgotten.

But - and now I come to the strongest point of this anime - the soundtrack. It's absolutely mindblowing, a lot of action-scenes got totally carried by this amazing soundtrack and the producers use it well.

Summary: Watch it if you (like me) enjoy and value good soundtrack - then you might last for the 22 episodes, else don't bother.
