Honestly Elfen Lied had a great story idea. But the problem is with the characters. Half of the characters were incredibly annoying,useless, and were not needed for this anime. For example; Mayu, & especially Yuka were not needed for this anime. Making several, if not dozens of parts of this anime irritating, and boring. Aside from that the main protagonist; Kouta, was also insanely annoying, Episode 11, thinking that he can just run into a pile of soldiers and not be scared by a nearly-dying Nana surely makes sense right?
