School Days is a psychological anime as said by everyone, and when we say "psychological", we mean drama to its fullest extent. First off, Do not judge a book by its cover, School days might seem like a typical harem/romance anime, which is what i thought, until i realized it was a complete opposite.
Story:
The Story is easy to understand, just by reading the synopsis, I'm sure you would know what it is, well, what it starts like is probably a better term. There are a few twist and turns in the anime which is one of the main aspects on why this anime is
...
different from all the "typical romance/harem" anime. I would suggest you not to watch the anime if you think its a plain old typical romance/harem anime, be prepared for alot of drama, but overall the story is different, I have not seen one anime similar to school days in its plot and how it can have such a huge twist.
Animation:
The animation for me, was ordinary, I did not see any huge flaws or anything that made it stand out, it would probably fit in the just above average in the animation section.
Sound: This was truely for me one of the best aspects of the anime, the only flaw was the opening for school days, sure it was good and happy, but because of the "happyness" the song had, it didnt fit in well towards the end of the anime, but there were other songs i really liked and gave me a postive feel to school days, my personal favourite would be Namida no Riyuu, it truely fits perfectly with the anime(read the lyrics).
Character:
Now this is one of the either you hate or you understand sections. Many people think of the characters as something they hate and could even quit the anime because of it, but without thinking that it is because these characters are made very realistically with real life humans. There are probably multiple Makoto's in real life., people just dont realize it, but yes there are some flaws with the characters, like how an average human would do something different from what he did, also that this anime is similar to what we currently are in reality, underage sex, cheating and much more.
Enjoyment:
Straight after finishing the series, i thought how i did not hate it, but i did not like it either, so i left the rating at an average, but now looking back at it i can understand a bit more, maybe its because it takes time to realize the potential of this anime. I thought that i probably wouldnt watch this ever again, but now looking back i might have been overthinking, because it really wasnt a bad anime.
Overall, All anime have its advantages and flaws, One huge advantage that this anime gives is more of a lesson, A lesson of life, to Never cheat on your partner and always be reliable towards your friends.
