CSM is a great dark shonen that follows SNK in terms of violence, battles, suspense, mystery, and approach of complex characters with traumas, anxieties, and desires. You really get hooked on the first chapters and you feel that the story becomes more and more intense, so it’s hard not to want to read it quickly. Similarly, the death of characters is suffered a lot. I love both aesthetics and particular designs, they are very attractive, as well as the characters and their respective stories and personalities, without forgetting the amazingly drawn fights and action sequences. CSM is more comical, so the sudden death of a character perhaps delivers a more aggressive pain-in-the-gut feeling instead of SNK, which does it as slow-paced suffering that lasts longer.

Essentially, both slice-of-life is about interpersonal relationships and affective bonds as they explore their own sexualities and reflect on what it means to love someone and their implications. They don't represent a utopian scenario where love between people of the same sex is completely normalized, but rather they put into discussion the context in which we live today and how complex it still remains, so the development of the characters feels deserving overall.

They both show a surprisingly mature relationship between teenagers, and they're also really funny in their chemistry. The animation is also very similar.

The initial plot is almost the same: both protagonists find the secret side of each other and start a lovely relationship. The humor and the supporting characters are also similar, so it's a great idea to watch both of them. Although, keep in mind KareKano gets more introspective and darker
