Hate to be that guy, but it seems that most people who see this anime just don't get it!
On the surface, and from the first episode, it seems to be just another "social media bad" anime. But that's not quite what it has to say. It's more of a commentary of the flow of information in the digital age. The social media itself isn't treated as bad, it's how the government uses it that causes the main conflict in the story, and the heroes have to piece together facts that conflict with the official government's narrative to solve problems.

After episode 3 or so, and until ... episode 10 or so, each episode is a different episodic storyline where the characters explore a different aspect of how we view information. Stuff like moderation, wikipedia, being a creep advertising as a little girl, the benefits of following rumors, etc. is explored, and to me, that's the more interesting meat of the story, although the action adventure hijinks are great too. The style is an interesting blend of 2D and CGI where the AR and VR elements in-universe are generally CGI while the real life elements in-universe are generally 2D, which I'm sure is an intentional distinction, but they still blend together well.

If there's anything negative I have to say though it's gotta be the plot-heavy episodes towards the end. The way the crew solves their problems is very spur-of-the-moment, and the seemingly oppressive government is easily toppled. But if you're ok with relatively low stakes and want to see a show that explores themes that not a lot of similar shows do, this is a great watch.

This show came out of nowhere and I didn't expect it to grab me like it is. I'm not usually a viewer of magical girl shows but this show alone has caused me to become addicted to the genre. It's not a comedy, not a deconstruction, not a kids' show, just a straightforward action show with fantastic writing. I'm not sure what the intended audience is for this show, given that it mixes cutesy highschool drama with actual violence and adult themes like whorehouses; which is a good thing in my opinion as it probably means the creators were just trying to express themselves, to ... write a show for them rather than for someone else. There's a moment near the end that I disagree with, but otherwise the show's writing is flawless. And the soundtrack...You wouldn't think that rave music would gel so well with a show about Magical Girl Batman but it works fantastically.

Good, clean, fun anime. There's not much of an overall plot, so it's very episodic, and the quality of the writing varies strongly between each episode--nothing so far has even come close to the brilliance of episode one. Episode 1 sets the show up to be a serious drama but it's honestly more of a monster-of-the-week comedy, a lot like Western action cartoons. It has a neat art style but the animation is super limited. The tone varies between comedic and serious depending on the episode. The characters are pretty one note but still fun. I'm still probably going to watch it every week just ... to see the ridiculous writing style and interesting world. The OP is so good alone that it bumps the 6 to a 7.
