The first thing you'll notice about this anime, especially if you are watching this in high resolution, is the amazing art you will see. Fantastic.


Story: I was a bit touch and go with this anime. I dropped it after the first 4 episodes and then decided to pick it up again and then dropped it again. The story is a bit unique in my opinion.. I haven't seen an anime/manga yet that has a similar story line. The story tends to jump around a lot - Excalibur? Seriously, wtf? They could of cut that easily and ... saved two episodes. It just seems like its taking the writers too long to explain the main story. From what I've heard it also tries to change into a more dramatic anime half way in the series.

Art: Art is amazing. Not only is the art great but there is great camera direction which is one of the things that'll get me to keep watching an anime.

Sound: I don't really like to review sound in anime .. you'd think i'd be interested in it since I'm studying record engineering . But if I were to, I'd say that the voice actors did a fine job.

Characters: The main characters I liked a lot - their relationships and build up were well written. The side characters I could of easily done with out, looking at you Excalibur. I also dropped this anime 20 episodes into it because I sort of lost that excitement that I got from the characters - they were starting to become more annoying than the intial "Wow" that I got from them.

Enjoyment: As I've said before - I found myself to enjoy this anime .. at least until it started becoming a more dramatic series and disrupting the original flow of the anime even more so than it already has.

Overall: Take a few test watches for a few episodes.. It might be a bit hard to get into but it may not. It ended up becoming a so so anime to me because of the dramatic change and the lack of enjoyment I got out of the characters in the middle of the series.

Full Metal Alchemist - Picked this up recently as it was on Adult Swim and I pretty much had nothing else to do.

Story: Story is fine up until halfway or so. At this point it begins to feel that the writers are just dragging the story along when they could probably just have ended it in 30 or so episodes. I don't know what the manga is like and don't really have any interest in it if it explains more or has some different content etc. Also, about the R rating - I think its only R rated because there might be ... some mature themes expressed a bit differently than most anime (Killing & Using Humans for example & other topics related to the Circle of Life).

Towards the later episodes it appears that there is more comedy involved in the writing than there was in the previous episodes and it throws off ... the viewers sense of direction i suppose a bit.

Art: Aside from the comedic moments between the main characters when the directors decide to change their faces to be more humorous.. not sure how to describe that... this can become a bit old later in the series. Otherwise art is fine. I'm not usually one who cares for art because I haven't really found a problem with art in any anime cause of how our standards change.

Sound: Sound is fine - I can't really stand the character Al's voice, but maybe thats just because he's eh.. talking out of a suit of armor i suppose (this is an "he is but he isn't" kind of thing.) I also could not stand one of the background songs used in the middle of the series. It just sounded out of place or even horrible in the anime.

Character: I was a bit more impressed than I thought I would be with the characters and their relationships. Sure there are some misses in the anime/manga but overall well done.

Enjoyment: Again up to about halfway I was fine with it and wouldn't mind an episode during dinner or so - but past the half way mark I just haven't really been interested in the anime because it keeps on going off the main story plot.


Overall: Its tolerable. Nothing spectacular but if you want to watch it when youre bored or find it on Adult Swim, if you have it, go ahead and watch it. The dubs aren't that bad once you get used to them.

Lucky Star. Just wow. What an amazingly pathetic attempt at an anime. Slice of life animes I can get - they have stories, they can have strong character relationships and they might occasionally be something you can relate with in your life.

Story: 0 - Lucky Star - I'd rather watch 15 minutes of The Hills than watch 15 minutes of a group of people discussing on how one goes about eating a certain food - or any other subject that they discuss. To me there is no story here. None. Imagine the hottest, but stupidest, girl in your ... school talking to you about a handbag for fifteen minutes. You want to enjoy her but just can't because she is so bloody annoying. Lucky star for you.


Art: Art is fine - your standard slice of life art if anything...

Sound: Aside from the nonsense you hear from the characters ; Sound is pretty average. The only thing that is awesome about this anime is the intro music. One of the best ever I must admit that.

Characters: 2 Sure they have their own "personalities" but thats it did not get any sense of attachment other then "Will you be my friend???? Yayyyyyy"

Enjoyment: 0. This is the first anime I found to, pardon my french, piss me off. there are slice of life animes that i enjoy - they have an actual story. This doesn't.

Overall: 1 - The only thing that I really liked about this anime was the intro music. That was pretty good. Other than that - I can't really see why I should watch an anime that has managed really piss me off.. its not just that the story is not that good or I'm just not into it - like Code Geass S02, Black Lagoon s02 - both animes I like but the sequels not so much. 4 chicks in just talking about a random subject is just plain boring. I understand that its classified itself as a comedy - and i can like comedies, but maybe I just have higher standards than most of my anime peers.
