Mushoku Tensei is a show that will never be a perfect series no matter what the show tries to do with the main character. The one big theme that the show preaches: "How a scum can re-live his second life without ruining it again". It's also a show that focuses mainly on redemption for Eris, Ruijerd, Rudy, Paul (not yet), and other characters that I won't spoil.
Even so, I love this series. It's the rawest series in the whole anime industry. The characters are just so well done in this show, Ruijerd felt like a person I know in real life, the quiet and extreme
...
type but deep within, a very kind person who cares for others. For Paul, a typical asshole for prioritizing lust in a relationship. Rudy, an extremely ugly introvert that's similar to Paul, but he at least knows to not take full advantage of women. Rudy always looking to do the right thing to amend his past mistakes for his family and friends, even if he did sometimes failed to be creepy most of the time.
The human flaws in this show are the reason why this is a great series, but not a perfect one.
I do understand that most of you probably go into this expecting to fully see a perfect story writing, with all the praises that the show was getting for being the grandfather of all isekai, or how immersive the show is, which it was.
Now, looking past all the sexual assaults and the act that objectifies women, the story is a big 10/10 if we look at it objectively.
Your disgust of how they treated women in this show should not reflect on how the story writing is. Taking sexual harassment and pedophilic acts out of the equation, this is one of the most immersive stories I have ever encountered in all my years of watching anime.
A disclaimer, I hate the recurring theme of NTR and most of the men looking to only sexualize and rape all the women in this show. And it's even more terrible once the elf girl is introduced into the story.., *cough* *cough*
Even the Seiyuu for Rudy, Eris, and Sylphy called Rudy and Paul a disgusting human being. I love that Rudy VA promises her viewers that she will make him sound as creepy as possible as a joke lol.
For some who have personally experienced some form of sexual harassment in the past, I'm sure you can relate to this in some way, and the series portrays a realist view on such a topic. That men are still beasts, at least when you look at human history.
What I meant by this is, in the medieval period, the concept of sexual harassment doesn't exist. Rape is considered to be the same crime as theft, and the show portrays that normalized belief in their society with Paul raping Lilia (her backstory got even more messed up after she got raped by him), Ghislaine getting raped by Paul when she was bathing at night, Paul talking about how he slept with a ton of noble ladies - comparing it with other adventurers - in the past, etc. And yes, the series had shown us that they weren't bothered by the non-consensual sex at all. Even Roxy was able to bear all the sexual harassment from both Rudy and the prince, even in her spinoff manga series, her adventures from after she left her village contain a bit of it.
Does this frustrate me?
Yes.
Does this make the show a bad show?
This is the one point that will bring up a lot of arguments, but I have to say no.
He's a guy that jacks off to loli eroge during his father's funeral.
Yeah, he's disgusting.
He's the guy that tries to take advantage of both Roxy and Eris and likes to steal their panties.
Yeah, that's very creepy.
But when I watch this show, everyone feels like they all have a real personality. It wouldn't be an understatement to say this series is being carried by the character writing, setting, art, voice acting, and smooth plot progression (from birth to adulthood without skipping most of the moments in his life).
Most people that rated this a 3/10 or a 1/10 clearly rated with their emotions. So for those that don't have the intention to watch this series because of some reviews, I highly recommend for you guys to watch until the reunion with Paul and Rudy, which should be in the next season.
This will be the reason, the biggest reason, why this is the rawest show out there. It will not be a happy reunion. You will cry. You will cringe. You will start hating some characters with all your heart. You will sympathize while hating them. You will regret hating them but felt relieved that something has happened to them. You will cry for Rudy. Eris will too. Everybody will.
There's so much despair coming that I have to warn you guys to not quit until that moment comes. I don't want to see some people missing out on those moments just because they judged a show by its ugly cover, Rudy and Paul, and thought that it was good to be childish and hate the show for it.

What makes Ane Naru Mono so unique in comparison to other mangas out there is that the artist for this manga/author is incredibly well known for being a top tier eroge artist in the japanese community. That's not to say that someone like Tosh (Food wars) or Nanashi (Please Don't Bully Me, Nagatoro) is not unique since they are too, a hentai artist, but Pochi is actually the first hentai artist who actually turn her own hentai into a manga series. She is also the main artist for the milf isekai if anyone had seen that.
Oh yes, did I say she? Pochi is actually
...
a female doujin artist. She is also a Virtual youtuber if you guys ever heard of Pochimaru / POCHI-GOYA.channel on youtube.
Me digressing aside, Ane Naru Mono is one wholesome manga. The gap moe, meaning the contrast between appearance and personality, is what makes this such a good read. The supposedly fearsome demon turning out to be extremely loving, a nice big sister type of character, and funny enough, a yandere; all that really did made me like the characters in this manga quite alot. It does seem overly perverted for an ecchi manga most of the times, but this doesn't stray away from telling us the story (the life of the shota), or the slice of life between the main protagonist and the female demon that he had accidentally summon to become his sister. That said, I still have abit of an issue with the overly sexualized panels recurring more so than the story. I just wished the author tone down abit of the start to a hentai-esque scenario instead of trying to make it happen for most of the chapters and cockblock it everytime. In all honesty, this manga felt more like a promotion to the hentai doujin than actually trying to promote a story. Later on though, like halfway through the chapters, the author actually focuses more on the story so it's not entirely bad.
I may be complaining, but the wholesomeness of the manga is enough for me to let it pass by, and alongside with the art designs for the characters.

Cautious Hero is one of those shows where the title just sounded more like a clickbait than actually being overly cautious because this hero wasn't that overly cautious at all; except for a couple of his decision making that does certainly put him within that category when he blows things up over and over again on the corpse of his enemies. To expand on what I just said, he's more like a dark soul player than anything.
Some people may be turned off by the MC's attitude towards everyone, but as a light novel reader of this series, this series is actually a lot more
...
serious than you would originally think. Though also comedic most of the time. There's actually a reason why the MC's like that as well, a very big reason. I mean, you could probably tell how messed up some of the villains are with at least the first boss killing itself, and from there, a monster crawled out from within that buff body and tore it from inside out. Somewhat reminding me of devil man cry baby for some reason.
Later into the story, it will contain some of the very overly sexualize and gruesome scenes; the light novel translation had to tag the NSFW tag/warning before you could read the chapters. Your early impression of this anime could be completely be blown away by the upcoming episodes. When I said NSFW, expect there to be a lot of gore and a bit of pubic hair. Yes, I said it! Pubic hair! You will either be weirded out by this series, or find some of the things here actually being funny. With all that said, I don't personally mind that at all. It's just a series that doesn't know the boundary between something being funny, or something that's just straight up weird or messed up. As an example, episode 4 had titties spilling out.
I had only finished reading up until the end of this season 1 of the light novel btw.
The reason why I actually read the light novel after seeing the first episode of Cautious Hero was because it broke so many tropes with how self aware they were as they only chose people from Japan because they're more familiar with isekai tropes. Or how the Demon King knows that there's a threat, so they gave the Hero no time to train, even though they presumed that he's still level 1 at the time of his departure to the world. Meaning, if there's no time difference between the god's realm with that world, the world would have been doomed before Cautious Hero could've came to save them.
If you're planning to drop this series, the twist to this show is literally gonna surprise you. Since these characters, even if you may dislike them or find some of them annoying, are not as one dimensional as you would think. It's like comparing hell to heaven. It just doesn't feel like a comedy series anymore after I finished volume 1 of the light novel.
On episode 3, I'm sure everyone had some trouble to either cry with laughter or depression after seeing my guy Celsius being bullied by our hero. And like I said, but let me rephrase it, the author's sense of humor is pretty interesting. And you guys may also wondered, why didn't they show the training that the Cautious Hero is doing? The answer to that is, because he's not the MC.
Some people may be deceived by the title of this series, but the MC isn't the cautious hero. Some people may also put the wrong tag with the "male protagonist" into this series, but the entirety of volume 1, which was like 1000 pages long, was never being portrayed from the Cautious Hero's point of view. Additionally, we never get to hear the Cautious Hero's inner monologue even once. Meaning, if the Cautious Hero were to fight against the Demon King all by himself. We will never know what happened unless the Goddess was also there as well.
That aside, the characters of this show isn't all that likable in my opinion, even though I've seen the light novel. Of course, Seiya is an exception as his character is actually a lot more likable than you would've initially thought, but aside from him and a few goddesses: Aria (a bit plain of a character that fit into a certain perfect girl trope) and everyone else are just a decent character. There is certainly quite a few character growth for the main characters and a few side characters, but generally, that kinda goes against to what a comedy anime should really be about.
So here comes the problem that I have with the series. It's one of those series that started off funny, but later became too overly serious for it to even be considered as funny sometimes. The direction that the author took with this series is actually quite disappointing and surprising. Although, this should be something that should be said after episode 12 came out, but this show will be heavily depend on your preferences when the show started to show you a lot more messed up stuff as the story goes on, and as each new Demon King's bosses are introduced into the story.
If you think that this is a full on comedy story, you guys are way off the mark. It's literally the epitome for a drama series, with the exposition and the early episodes, being consisted of mainly just comedy just for the attention grabber. It's not a bad show dont get me wrong, I'm still enjoying it despite what I'd said.
Definitely a good show to watch to kill time.

Who would've thought that 774/Nanashi, the author and the artist of this, would be able to draw and write such a wholesome story when he's known to have drawn quite a number of bestiality and guro hentai. And if you don't know what guro is, it's the worst kind of hentai a person should be enjoying. And funny enough, on chapter 5, there was a reference to his own H doujin called Yupiel Sama, if that's not obvious enough for you that he's a hentai artist. Btw, that's such a meta way to promote his best H work lol. And dont worry, this one is
...
just about as wholesome and similar to Nagatoro which may pretty much be a work of his own that inspired Nagatoro as a whole to exist.
There will of course be some people who hated this because of the bullying and how much of a dick the heroine is. Though keep in mind, the smugness and the bullying is the appeal to this series. Additionally, there's such thing as teasing the person that you like by bullying them, so it's technically not that strange. I mean, usually a boy teasing girl that they like is a good example of this. She's just on the extreme side.
If you don't like this, then just dont read it. But if you're the type of person who's open minded, try reading it until the 10th chapter and make up your mind until then. You would be surprise of how likable this series is disregarding the early bad impression that you may had.
She attac, she insult, she bully; but the best one of all: she protecc
And that's the charm of the series; when your bullies only bully you and you only because shes actually is interested in you. It's a unique love story that's for sure.
And the very great twist to all of this, she's actually a very normal girl underneath that layer of "im a bully, or a delinquent" persona. And she really just wanted to be treated normally. Within her, exist an emotional desire to be normal and be treated with honesty than ingenuity that most males in this story are being portrayed: wanting to get close to her for sexual gratification. And the hint of her interior emotions, she seems to be in a state of boredom or depression, and the thing that keeping her entertain in life is him. The writing of the character is actually a lot more intricated than you would think.
All that said, this series is just too cute.

Not sure if anybody notices this, but in the recent episodes there is a newly "added" name in the key animators section of the ending credit that reads, "Komata Shoujiki", meaning, "Honesty troubled". Im not sure what exactly is happening within that studio but it's widely known that the animators for anime in Japan is an underpaying job. In the US, animator be getting paid $60k-$90k annually, while in Japan, they be getting paid $10k a year. So it is possible that the key animators, or many more staffs, are crying for help from someone since they are being mistreated, or forced to be work
...
under a horrible condition in relation to getting pay less than normal, or something else.
And this may also be the primary reason as to why the animation for this anime is so shitty as we look at it from episode to episode.
Of course, that's not to say that the content of this show, not factoring in animation and art, is not trash. It's actually the good kind of trash since this show can be pretty pretty funny despite the great semblance that this anime has when compared to Eromanga Sensei. Although, for my standard for a good anime, Eromanga Sensei was definitely alot better than this show given a similar premise of an incest story using everything in reference to being a light novel author and meeting other light novel authors + their personalities. And of course, the idea of incest is horribly received in the west and on a global scale outside of Japan, so it's to be expected that everyone would rate this show so low.
I also personally feel like the writing for this is very amateurish. In regards to the characters, scenarios. and story telling. That's not to say that the premise is bad, it's actually quite a fun concept, but it will never be considered great no matter how much the author tries to make it great because it's just that kind of anime.
It's definitely a fun show if you can tolerate some of the more atrocious art, and some of the cringy moments in the show lmao.

Heh, Goblin Slayer? More like Rapist Slayer.
According to an interview with the author on youtube, the one on theanimeman's channel, the "story" that so many haters seem to think that it was nonexistent are basically just ignorant and blinded to their bias. There were even some people, one of the review with low rating below, seem to think that it's wrong for a show as dark as Goblin Slayer to have a cute character design, and as well as having a cheerful moment from time to time. Like dude, welcome to anime. This is nothing new. And yeah, this world is basically based
...
on a tabletop game. Which is probably why no characters in this show really do have a name. What you would mostly hear is their class name, or their race name. Which make sense since this is based on tabletop game concept. I find this part of the show is be very refreshing to see in an anime.
Incidentally, those "cheerful" moments also serve as a way to teach us about the culture of different races, rather than just having an episode where they just explicitly spent 5 mins explaining the setting and culture of the elf, dwarf, and the lizardmen. They studio literally accomplish 2 things at the same time: party introduction, establishing their personalities and ethnicity and culture. It wasn't really a meaningless, and a one dimensional story telling at all where they are trying to only have us familiarize with the characters before they get fucking rekt in the future, that was not the goal of this show at all. That being said, "don't judge a book by its cover". Goblin Slayer is one of those kind of show.
Some people may think that this show is going to be heavy, heavy, heavy, and heavy throughout episode 1 to the very end of season 1, but the anime has already proven us wrong. Episode 1 may serves as an episode that has invested the highest level of the shock factor, however, you gotta remember that much like in ep 3, episode 1 is basically world building and teaching us the culture of the Goblins.
I could name at least 6 things here that were hinted there in episode 1: Goblins use poison dagger to make up for their weaknesses, Goblins are led by Shamans, Goblins would always use raped victims as a bait to catch the adventurer off guard (that's why Goblin Slayer waited instead of going in), Goblins use Totems to ambush adventurers, Goblin uses women for reproduction (as said by the Goblin Slayer in ep 1), Goblins blood are thick (thus dulling the blade) so Goblin Slayer had to keep changing his weapon, and so on. So yes, episode 1 isn't all about the shock factor, its world building.
Now some may say that it was unnecessary for there to be rape in episode 1, but hey, the goal of this episode was to have us hate the Goblins, not really to have us sympathize or get horny with the raped victims. That was why the anime decided to cut the portion of the 3 fodder character's backstory (which is in the manga and the light novel) and proceeded to show how fucked up the Goblins are, but most importantly, the anime cut out like 80% of the rape scenes in the manga. Meaning that this anime is way lighter than the manga and you shouldn't be needlessly getting trigger for no reason.
And now, which would be more impactful do you guys think? Simply talking about the fact that Goblins "eat and rape" women, or actually showing the scene for us audience to know what the victims had to go through. I would say the latter if you are trying to have us hate someone. It's the same thing when you see ISIS chopping a baby's head or a head of a nude women on liveleak, instead of hearing some news about it on articles. You would hate them even more if you had seen the former.
As far as the MC goes, I love the guy. This is probably one of the most unique MC out there in anime. His personality is not only realistic, but it has alot of depth to it that was mostly easy to understand and predictable. That said, him being monotone, is that a bad thing? No. This is actually a good thing since I could imagine a guy who had to hide and watch his sister and the entire villagers being tormented and raped being this socially awkward. This is what isolation do to you. You lost nearly all the ability to communicate like a normal human being, especially when you're seeing raped victims every single day, being raped and killed by Goblins, eventually your emotions would become so deaden to the point where you wouldn't become expressive at all no matter how hard you tried.
And unlike those OP characters in a fantasy world, Goblin Slayer is not some lv 100 player or some shit, he's an average joe who uses his brain to make up for his lack of power. Which typically not something we would see nowadays. Additionally, from my understanding, it felt like the way spells works in this world is actually quite similar to Pokemon games. Where there are limited uses for a certain spell that you cast instead of using the MP system...
Though, that aside, if you didn't enjoy the first episode because you didn't understand the purpose of it aside from assuming that it's just shock factor for the sake of shock factor with no context, or story; you should definitely check out at least 4 episodes before making your final judgement on a show that's only been aired recently. You can't judge the whole show if you didn't see the entirety of it yet. And this is a very good show. I would highly recommended it to alot of people, but ofc, there are personal preferences for everything so if you're a snowflakes, then don't watch this anime lol.

This anime felt like the Monogatari Series but it isn't the same.
This anime felt like Ore no seishun love comedy wa machigatteiru, or Oregairu for the shorten name, but it wasn't really the same either.
The very unique thing about this show is probably the elements that it has with the supernatural (Adolescence Syndrome) and how that affects the relationship between characters and the drama surrounding it. It actually felt kinda weird but enjoyable. It just felt like that author blended the two show together and gave birth a rather unique one while adding his own originality into it. That said, this show is
...
great.
Much like the MC known as Hikigaya Hachiman, the MC is a very frank, with a straightforward personality, who's willing to humiliate himself much like Hikki in order to protect someone. Though, I wouldn't say that they are the same either since Hikki is the scapegoat type.
Much like the MC known as Araragi, the MC goes around saving people who appeared to have some sort of supernatural "illnesses", and in turn, they became close to the MC that way as the MC consulted someone (like Meme Oshino) and then use that knowledge to save them. And again, I wouldn't say that they were the same either since the knowledge here ties with logic and science.
And thus, I love the MC. He has a very likeable personality and for him to act like a playboy at times, he felt entirely unique as a character when you compare him to any other MC with a very similar trope as his, basically a loner but is actually cool af.
Incidentally, the cause for the illness could easily be explained with, "if it's a situation caused by your unstable psyche characteristic to adolescence-", a line from episode 4.
Much like the Monogatari series, the entire series is centered around the adolescence of Araragi, and other heroines. This may also be the reason as to why I love this series so much as it could easily be linked with 2 of my most favorite dialogue heavy series: the Monogatari Series and Oreigaru. Basically, a series centered around the growing of characters and personality, expanding the characters' views and build relationship with one another. It's that sort of series.
That being said, the highschool drama thingie was done alot better than The Monogatari Series - though it doesn't bested Oreigaru - with the atmosphere, while the supernatural was alot more "modern" than the ones in Bakemonogatari; thus, its relatable and easy to understand. That's not to say it was entirely "better" in any sense, each series has its own charm that neither could beat. The atmosphere were alot different for a different reason afterall: Monogatari is centered around a more adult like philosophical theme, while this anime is more focused on adolescence with a theme involving love and school dramas. This anime is giving me Kimi no na wa vibe for some reason (at a specific scene), meanwhile, the monogatari series had gave me a more authentic atmosphere that hasn't been done in any anime, so this anime couldn't really beat the mongotari series on that one.
Now let's talk about the characters, yes, there a few character archetypes that appear extremely similar like the main heroine when compared to "classroom of the elite"with Suzune Horikita, Monogatari with Senjougahara, and Oreigaru with Yukino Yukinoshita.
Would you say that she's a redundant character? No not really. She has more character, basically personality, and she is alot more likeable than Suzune Horikita (a show with characters that felt like they were a rip off from Oreigaru), and she also has a unique personality trait that those 3 don't have: when she doesn't have a full control over the MC while speaking with him, like how Senjougahara does it. Basically, she's a cuter tsundere than the rest of the 3 that I mentioned so I would put her above all the ice queen waifus.
Overall, this is actually a very good anime. Ofc, everything lies with your own personal preferences, but if you didn't give this show a chance all I could say here is, you're missing out bruh.

“Perhaps the cartoony mecha style emphasizes on that, but in the end it's a shallow show that foreshadows heavily on plot twists, but doesn't follow through to them in the end.” - -chronos
You didn’t even seen the whole anime or the plot twist yet, you’ve only seen 6 episodes lol
“Inspired by old familiar mecha, Darling in the FranXX tries to incorporate over-the-top elements of Gurren Laggan and symbolic yet dramatic elements of Evangelion. “ - -chronos
If you actually watch Gurren Laggan, and Evangelion, the themes, setting, characters, cinematography, art are so disparate from those 2 anime, I dont see how they are similar
...
aside from the robot thing (even though the way that works is even different, since you need a male and a female parasite to ride it).
It’s like comparing water and vinegar, its attracts, but it does not technically dissolve; rather, it forms a homogeneous solution with water. In this case, water represents Darling in the FranXX, vinegar represents Gurren Laggan, and some other solution that doesn’t mix with water or vinegar represents Evangelion. It might be similar in the use robots to fight monsters, some imagery, but the theme, setting and other elements of the show, all of the 3 compared, is markedly distinct.
“If you enjoy "nu"-mecha anime with unnecessary fanservice, no respect to its own world building and plot, and no respect to the viewer - go ahead and give this a go. “ - -chronos
You’re trying way too hard man. Did you even watch the anime. Fanservice was actually toned down quite alot in the anime, surprisingly.
I could already see the pattern with these 1/10 ratings that easily get so many upvote from people. The review is not only radical, narrow minded, and clearly seeking to get their review notice even at the expense of defaming the show. Additionally, the supporting premises that he presented never have anything to back it up with examples, but a bunch of connections with other animes, stating the obvious things from the show then label them as a cons, basically, a bunch of blanket statement indulging in sophistry fallacy. And because the show hold so much of the cons, even though there was no explicit examples to back it up, or any logical connection, many naive people decided to just upvote it for the sake of being on board with a radical opinion, because it makes them feel special or something to be holding a unique perspective from others.
People seems to like to think like this huh, in the anime community at the very least.
Spoiler alert btw
It actually took me like a month or so to get to this anime. The scene that I saw with the robot riding system was a complete turn-off for me, plus im not a fan of robot animes. The only thing that made me reconsider was the mere fact that people actually sent death threats to the creator, and literally track down the artist of Ichigo, somehow, and literally harass the person like it’s their fault that they’ve felt this indignation towards the character, blindly believing that Ichigo as a character is ruining the anime as a whole (even though we got like 10 episode left, from episode 14). That actually made me see a peek of episode 14 and literally binge watch the anime from episode 1 in one go. And like mate, its 2D, calm the fuck down. Its a “drama series”, shit like that supposed to happen. And why the fuck did you go after the artist for a character you hate? Their job was to design the character that the author decided to make. The existence to her character was due to him, not the illustrators.
And plus, let me repeat, its a fucking DRAMA series. Dont expect there to be rainbows and sunshine every single time after you see a dreary storm. I’m glad that rainbow after the storm thing didnt happen in episode 14, or else it would be uninteresting, and almost trite. And literally like from episode 10, leading up to ep 14, the anime actually sets that up for that to happen with the way they foreshadow it with Zero 2’s shift in mood, and even Ichigo learning to fear Zero 2, not only from information alone, but the accidental sight of Zero 2 appearing like an actual monster for the very first time to her.
And let me defend Ichigo's action here coz this started this hate train to begin with.
It does fucking frustrates us and all with Ichigo accidentally making everything worse when shit almost finally going down the path that we’ve been longed for, and that fucking kiss was dumb af, I would agree, but a “drama series” is a drama series, it’s to be expected to see a character acts as an obstacle within a story in a relationship, in this case, one belonging in the rival of love category. And the anime really did a great job to actually make so many people treated her like some sort of a thot (even though she’s really not if you pay close attention to the anime), mostly the callous and narrow minded people who only cares about one thing: the ship between Hiro and Zero 2; though not the emotions of the characters of the show as a whole.
In addition to that, after episode 12, Ichigo doesn’t have a third eye where she can actually watch the whole episode 13 somehow lmao. That would be way too inconvenient. But I guess, after episode 13, it kinda tunnel vision the audiences’ sight of other character’s perspective that the anime presented, so we could easily replace our indignation for Ichigo’s ignorance and put our anger onto her without recognizing the fault in Zero 2'action to not speak to her teammates, which would surely not make everyone to lock her up, her assuming that everyone lied to her and she proceed to beat the shit out of everyone.
And for the kiss part… Love is illogical, and Ichigo can’t prevent it from showing when she loves Hiro (although she had not learn of this yet when she was young as love wasn’t taught for the parasites) ever since her childhood with him. And since the very beginning, it was indicated so profusely with the way she acts toward Hiro flirting with Zero 2. The same goes for Goro, she never went out with him to begin with, Ichigo only partnered with him because Hiro couldn’t become a pilot. Both also have a one sided love: Ichigo, for the dude that had been taken away by Zero 2 but was never consciously aware that she was being jealous because she had never been taught what love is; Goro, the girl who he had always love since very young, despite knowing that she likes Hiro from the very first time he had met her.
Just because Ichigo doesn’t want to fall in love with Goro, and acts in a way that may looked seemingly like she betrays him, that’s not what the male to female riding the robot thing called the FranXX supposed to indicate. So she’s not a thot from that POV, and outsider can’t typically force love, since it won't be a genuine one.
Moreover, Ichigo never acts like some jealousy bitch and forcefully, or illogically breaks them apart lmao, she actually encourages them to be paired up with, aside from that one case where Zero 2 literally gave Hiro a big ass scar in the neck, which pushes her to actually take action for the very first time, despite the numbers of endangerment that Hiro had to go through because of Zero 2, as she was actually using him to earn some freedom to kill more of em monsters and use him. And I mean, I shipped Hiro and Zero 2 and all, but she appeared as a monster before she had the right mentality about Hiro in episode 13. After that, it was kinda too late with the damage that she’d done to Hiro and getting out of control.
And the other didn’t behaved the way she does, only because she was the only one knowing the truth about her slowly turning him into a monster, and after being the only one witnessing her monstrous side in her group, ofc anybody in her shoes would divide them as a way to protect Hiro.
Some called Ichigo manipulative, but really, I don't see that at all in the show. She genuinely believes that she is protecting him. She even let Hiro make the decision to pair up with Zero 2, and respects their relationship for the past 13 episode thus far, did you guys forgot? She even called her a “teammate” in episode 12 when confronting against the elite parasite guys with the blonde hair dude. We really can't hate her here.
Selfish? Maybe so, but the desire to protect your teammate that you cherish (like how Kokoro saved Mitsuru, or Ichigo saving Goro), especially if you are in love with them, is typical of a human being. Being overly protective is an act of selfishness after all. It’s also our human nature, and the anime did very well to portray that in Ichigo’s character.
The overall toxic feedback of this episode from the audiences that sincerely hate her as a character clearly doesn’t know that this is a drama series, and the character actually do have a very realistic, and reasonable judgement for doing the things they did, given the character’s personality, and their current state of beliefs.
I kinda rant abit there, but to wrap this up, the pros of this anime would definitely be the cinematography, the very natural-sounding voice acting, the vibes/atmosphere, the animation, the most realistic interaction between characters in an anime (given their character archetypes), great character concepts, and the perfect fit of ost on a given scene.
Plus, all the interesting stuff about what being an adult entails, the origin of the monsters, what happened to the outside world, who is the papa, and other philosophical questions resided in the anime; and obviously, the key selling point of this show, the drama and the in-depth angle on each of the character’s perspectives (mainly the one close to the MC) which led into a significant character growth later on in the story.
The cons is obviously the lack of core plot in the story other than concentrating on solely the relationship between characters, while using the monsters as a way to cause character growth to happen; the lack of explanations to the setting, even if it was later explained vaguely in later episodes; the unexciting fight scenes (imo).
All in all, this anime is pretty good. Definitely a definite watch if you’re into a drama series, although it doesn’t really offer much storyline (from ep 1 to 14), but the anime will probably draws you in if you watch the anime with an open mind.

Just hear me out for those that hate reading reviews with differing opinions from me, and of those that truly enjoy this series, but mainly the novel. I actually find it to be quite hilarious that the top reviewer, aka RebelPanda, wrote one of the most ridiculous thing ever written, and probably one of the most invalid, fallacious, illogical, and even the dumbest arguments that I’d seen in the long time, manages to get so many supporters despite how stupid his arguments are lmao.
And all of that came from someone whose sense of taste in anime is so disparate from those who actually watch
...
isekai animes, and other fucked up shit dealing with human morality, and philosophy dealing with dark subject matter: human depravity, rape, slaves, corruption, nobility, ideals etc. I’m pretty sure he had only actually watched a few of these sort of series, since most of his favorite animes are more consisted of Yuri, and girly animes (like that one called Princess Tutu on his top 10), but with the only exception to “Monster” (a pretty good horror anime), and Higurashi.
And everybody also knows that it’s not virtually possible to turn the light novel’s character designs, or art, into animation given the amount of work and the differences in the overall art that was meant to be drawn as a still image, rather than a moving piece of art; and he bitched about that… lmao. He also said that, “Momonga is Kirito”, than later lead a bunch of premises that has nothing to do with that. I could say, Y is X. Then proceeds to say some other shit that doesn’t support why Y is X, then all of the sudden segue to something else entirely while not talking about the first conclusive premise. He also uses examples that has less than 5 points that made sense, while leaving aside all of the 50+ differences that the MC has in comparison to Kirito.
However, here’s the thing. How is this anime anything like SAO, or the MC being anything similar to Kirito? His only line to support that was the MC is op, and that he’s a harem protagonist ; although he gives no fuck about romance as his skeleton form kept his overall emotions in check, and literally everything about the anime’s setting; the MC’s personality; the MC controlling his army; the MC being an undead; the MC living in a world where he coexists with characters that he and many of his guild members had created; the MC being the leader of the guild but is not considered to be the strongest amongst all of the members; the MC being a spell master; the MC almost died by Shalltear; the MC being fine with killing a bunch of people indiscriminately (kids, male, and females) in ep 13, although with mercy just so he could keep his sanity while not breaking his character as an Undead King in front of his generals, basically, the MC kills both the innocents and the enemies, unlike Kirito; the MC borrowing the power of his comrades to help aid to defeat someone, unlike that Kirito dude who can solo everybody; the MC looking up to one of his savior, Touch Me, who is considered to be the strongest player in YGGDRASIL (the game’s name) unlike Kirito; and I could go on and on here, so had he not seen the anime?
So why was his review taken seriously when there was no insight as to why the anime was trash when all he did there was summarized the plot, and made a pretentious lines mimicking sophistry, pretending to make his overall points sound reasonable by using the unreasonable, then later call them bad and acted as if all of that made sense. Anybody could do that shit. I could summarized the plot of Made In Abyss, then call that anime a piece of garbage by finding one of the most dumbest anime to compare it to, with barely any connections to the anime but only like one or two, then all of the sudden you get likes for it. Are all people of this generation that naive and oblivious?
And the common pattern that most of these illogical reviewers carry along with them is usually accompanied by the most unreasonable need to downgrade their artistic sense, musical sense, and appreciation for the externalities that had been incorporated into the anime (music, voice acting, art, and cinematography) for a special case just so they could make their overall “low-rating” of that anime looked seemly reasonable. Or rather, the more radical the review is, the more people would be interested in their reviews.
Putting that aside, the anime has one of the worst exposition to starts off a second season to any series that I had seen. It felt like the creator was implying that we should read the light novel if we wanted to know how we hop from the last thing that we saw in season 1 to season 2. Like the fuck man? I watch animu because I dont have that much time to read a light novel lmao. Plus, the introductions to many of the new characters/groups seem to just appear out of nowhere, while lacking in great details and explanations in brevity, and without any decent transition to segue from one scene to their first appearances. And tbh, they all just died off really quickly. I mean, if they have some world item or something, or some sort of an enigma to them, it would’ve made this eight finger, or whatever it was called, alot more interesting. Additionally, this season really do lack alot of challenges for Momonga. That’s actually one of the many things that im kinda disappointed. The lizard Arc was a little bit boring imo, I mean, sure, it’s their way to remind us that Momonga, the man seeking to take over the world, isn’t all that nice. Generally, anyone with that sort of goal are never nice to begin with. The idea there looks nice, but it could’ve done it in a more interesting way, with settings, characters, some third party involvement, etc. And not with the trite archetype. Even though im naming all of these cons that one of the top comment dude didn’t even tackle upon, the animation, and art was actually pretty good, objectively speaking. I'm actually a bit surprised by the animation quality tbh lol, especially during the fight scene. The ost wasn’t all that impressive for sure, and the voice acting is pretty good in and of itself, it’s just that there aren’t many unique characters with a weird manner of talking that would showcase some of the voice actors’ talent in the anime. I mean take that one crazy girl who got hug to death by Momonga for instance.
Overall, this season appear to just be another introductory exposition to a much greater story in the future, coming in season 3. They maybe lack the budget to completely cover other groups who may served as the main antagonist, or at least an adversary that kinda rivals Momonga himself that exists in the story, but they sorta doing this in this episode. Although, they only did introduce like a couple of groups, but not the one that was introduced in season 1, and they’re the more interesting ones too sadly, so it was sorta disappointing. But that being said, seeing sebas being a gentleman and being affected by his creator’s ideal of justice, seeing the maids in action, seeing Evileye, some capable of at least fight and actually beats one of Momonga’s maids, Momonga causing character growth to his own generals to think on their own as well and not just by obeying him like a puppet all the time (which incidentally led demiur to act on his own in ep 12 and 13, that benefitted Momonga greatly). All of which is pretty entertaining and fun to watch.

(Before reading the review, or planning on watching this anime. Please do realize that this arc marked the end of the journey of Araragi's confrontations of the supernatural, amidst his occupation as a high schooler, before being graduated from being a high schooler to a college student. That being said, it's unwise and rather illogical to not watch this at the very end of the timeline, which can be discerned here (http://imgur.com/UjlhSyS). But that being said, you must watch all aired series of monogatari, excluding hanamonogatari ofc, since it's entirely irrelevant to the main story or the main attention of the plot of Koyomi, the
...
MC. Though, be sure to watch koyomimonogatari ep 12 last before heading toward the second season of Owarimonogatari)
As the monogatari series had made itself known to me, in the beginning of time, my first impression of this series wasn't bright, I had to, almost as if, coerced myself to continue watching it given the exudes of its sense of pretense and sophistry; which I had decided to assume about the series first that I have no great first impression off, since it's only natural to doubt a philosophically deep dialogue from an anime right? That being said, that's only when my mind and thinking process are struck in the subjective sense, due to sentimentality and all of the other factor that made up subjective view. After I've mature abit more, I started to look at things more objectively, whilst discarding the subjective ground of thinking like appealing more to sentimentality or enforcing few parts of the show I hate about to irrationally hate the show itself , listening to others to build my own ideas, trying to pander myself to the social constructed common thinking, and such. This is when I became a hardcore monogatari fan, rewatching the show like 9 times already for the past years.
Then it had become my no.1 anime of all time.
Digression aside, mayoi hell, hitagi renvendous and such, marked the end of the tale of Koyomi, the main lead of the story, in this great adventure of learning about the oblivion, entering into the realm of the supernatural, and adapting himself, using his own irrationality and resignation of not knowing obscured truth, to saves all the presented girls in the story. But this simply marked an end to Araragi's adolescence life, as he did in fact graduated and became, quasi, a new person entirely with the enlightened knowledge bestow by other characters, whom to which held great and unique wisdom given their differences in characters and perspectives that builds Araragi's character. Araragi started off as a pain the ass character, it changes though, and this is the quintessential growth, to that of a strong and greatly developed character through a person's adolescence, though from the perspective of an especial or an exceptional one.
This arc could be named the "Magnum Opus" of all the monogatari series combined, I would even go as far as to say that it's prolly one of the finest, and incredibly well executed, wrapped up of all arc of the life of Koyomi before his graduation and the foreboding tales, entailing the yet to come experiences, that had yet to be known to the anime watchers (that's a different story if you are a light novel reader of the monogatari series). Incidentally, the life of those that held a great relevance to Araragi's adolescence, all of them have grown as well. The rather monotonous speech pattern, and the ever so repetitious, static personality had been abolish almost credulously; this signifies the their growth, namely, Nadeko, Senjougahara, Hanekawa and some of the character in the show (aka, Ougi).
Whilst some people maybe confused about the scene that had been replayed in Kizumonogatari in a much different setting from the movie; this second season remained true to its primal source material. Meanwhile, the movie version of kizumonogatari greatly differs from the light novel given the extensive hyperbolic visuals, differing setting, metaphors and of the lack of a more deep and plenty dialogues; though that doesn't dwindled the credibility of how Araragi and kiss shot was built, honed, or came to be.
Another confusion in the this anime as well, would be the fact that in the monogatari universe, all supernatural entities that are straying from its own role, pretending to be a human/other deity or oddity, or if the observer see them doing so or realizes it (this can effect the darkness if you've seen ep 3 of Owari second season, and back in time with kiss shot and her first minion) or acknowledge them, they get swallowed up by the darkness as its existence lives solely to rectifies abnormality.
As I've fleetingly digress, let's talk about this arc of the monogatari in particular shall we? Or let me just change that to I instead if we were to think about it logically. But, we finally got to learn about Ougi's actual identity in this second season of Owari. It had been hinted directly and even indirectly like the exuding air of her ominous aura or appearances , but it literally flew past by our heads given that we had already, instinctively even, enclosed the possibility of that to be true. The very great thing about this though, the show manages to creates this brim of articulate connections, from the facts that are not known, or left to be obscured to us but is slightly told throughout the series (like Kiss-shot's past from 400 years ago when she became a new god there), and the very obvious ones consisting of Araragi's interactions with all characters, basically, his entire adolescence as a whole.
Since spoiling here is imminent and almost inevitable if I were to lay out bare the great level of intricacy structure of the display of the connections, I'll just left some part of the show's revelation left untouched, lest you're already spoiled by some reviewers here, in which I will not be doing.
All in all, the greatness of the music production and its great segue for each scene never made me questioned the inappropriateness of the director's selections, the extraneous scenes and playful background movement amidst the dialogue always makes it alot more bearable, but in this case, very entertaining to both appreciating the dialogue, the voice acting, and the visuals. Never had I got bored watching the intensive hour of the first episode, Mayoi Hell, the second episode, Hitagi rendezvous, the third episode, Ougi Dark; all thanks to the great production of music and such, that the director and the staffs gave in each episodes. The revelation, or the main plot that builds itself since and of the entire monogatari series, had ended with a very good and meaningful plot twist (a plot twist for you if you're not Gaen Izuko lmao) that left me with a feeling of awe, an elated one. It's very rare for an anime, or even a story, that had solely rely its dialogue, to move the plot forward to be this fun to watch. The simplicity of a fighting show, harem show or any other story hold no chance against this piece of work that we called, the monogatari series. That maybe an exaggeration, but I have yet to see any show that wrapped the entirety of its show as good as this.
The disturbing scenes that encroached the norms of our century, the pedophilia like interactions or thoughts, the incest, the first ever scene of someone getting aroused from having their teeth being brushed by another person, the perversion, all of it are not a complete representation of what the show has to offers. As far as it stands, it don't negates the intellectualism that the dialogues has which includes many of the fundamental core message or purpose of a life lessons, the wisdom, the perspective, idealism or convictions crashing with another person's, and so forth. And ofc, not all dialogue from this show are that serious all the time, most of the time though, they are relevant to honing Araragi's character and of the other ones (like Kaiki for instance).
That being said, this anime is prolly one of the best anime out there yet, and the most unique amongst all, and it's a must watch if you haven't finish watching the show yet.
